dont ring them, let them ring you again. Explain what you have been offered and then say your not happy with it. Tell them you want a phone and you will take the offer. If not, request your PAC code. They will then offer you a deal or phone back after another 24hrs. If they dont, phone back and take up the offer.

But why would they ring me again? The woman rang to give me my PAC code that I had requested several days earlier. After giving my PAC code she tried to offer a better tarrif deal to make me stay. After realising that I wasnt happy with what she could offer, she said "ok, sorry to bother, bye". Surely this would have put a mark on the account to say retentions have already tried. Therefore I can not see them ringing again, or is that the protocol ?

He got put through to "Customer Saves" not "Outbound Retention" ...

Outbound Retention cannot be transfered through too.. however Customer Saves is classed as Retentions, not Upgrades.

    They usually try three times.

    Right I am confused now.
I am due for an upgrade on November but if I wanted to cancel I couldn't until January as that is when the contract ends.
Last year when I was in this position after looking about at the price plans I found a price plan that I wanted but unfortunately it looked like I may have had to pay for the phone I wanted as I only wanted a £20PM price plan.

When I phoned up a pressed the selection for upgrades when I told the person that I spoke to they said that they were able to give me the phone for £80 instead of the £100 stated on the website I said no so they put me through to another department and the person I spoke to there said that is fine what I wanted and didn't have to pay for the phone. I thought that must have been retentions but it couldn't have been as I wouldn't have been able to cancel.

In my situation could I still ring and ask to speak to retentions?

I am so angry with myself as the person I spoke to gave me there name and said next time I am due an upgrade phone and speak to him but I can't remember his surname but I suppose he might not even be there now.

You were speaking to retentions, yes.

Retentions will still take the call aslong as you are within your upgrade period, it doesn't have to be at the very end of your contract.

What you gota remember is when you call through to retentions or new sales etc, Each person has there own pot of cash to use, So its upto the agent ultimately if you pay for the phone or not, This could be down to if they like you or not :), So be nice also taking insurance and the internet then canceling after first month will get u better deal :P as they hit there kpis

well vodafone said they would ring us 2 days ago and still nothing. contract runs out at the end of the month and i think we're just going to cancel. really annoying us now. Seems like they dont even want to keep us.
  • Does anyone know how long it is before vodafone gives you their *second* retention call after you have requested your pac code?

I had the first call 2 days after requesting my pac code. The woman said she cant offer the deal I wanted, and hung up. Will someone ring back, or is that it? Its been about a week since their first call.

All the retention people who call you generally get the same pot of money, so if the first person couldn't offer you the deal more than likely the rest won't.. try not too be so greedy :p

she said you can have £12.50/pm 600 minutes, unlimited texts (the standard offer)

but she said no free phone. I said some people get offered that (according to this thread), she said impossible. she said no one can ever get a phone upgrade whilst only paying 1£12.50pm - she said it may be a special pretend deal from phones4u or an independent company - but *not* from her vodaphone retention office where she said she had been working there for 4 years.

Was she right than fsrandom? (btw thnx for ur help in my recent posts, it is appreciated)

Also.. about the 2nd and 3rd renetion calls to my, when do they usually happen? My first call came 2 days after requesting pac code, when does the 2nd call come? its been a week.. and no one has rang, and i want to get a contract sorted im in limbo waiting.. plus i have the feeling no one will ring as i bet she marked the account as 'unable to offer anything - closed' or somat like that hah
