It's more a case of letting them try hard to find a deal you find acceptable. The customer is king with retentions. :)
They can't offer any better deal so waiting the PAC code

    SUN PREPAID| Limit £O - balance £800CR
    JD WILLIAMS | Limit £320---£800 - balance £10
    Next | Limit £3500 - balance £ 0
    Savings - £3350

Are you not gonna have to pay to get your PAC now then?

you are allowed to upgrade 70 days before your contract expires, but if you want to cancel you have to give 30 days notice. if we ring in October then they should offer us better deals.

I cant be bothered waiting another month as i keep going over on my texts so its doing my head in they wont give us a good deal seeing as i have gone over £22 this month, about £10 last month, about £30 the months before.

Obviously they arent bothered about giving us a better deal as they are making more money this way so why should they offer us something better.

What annoys me about Vodafone, they have good network coverage but their customer service is terrible. Id move but no one offers a good a deal as these.

i called the upgrades and they offered me a nokia E51 15£ pm on 12months contract with 75min 100 texts..i can go with a 18m with lower line rental..
I wouldn't even bother calling upgrades. Ask for your PAC and wait for the call from 08080000133 (you cannot call them). Anybody else is a waste of time.

The thing about retentions is that they offer the best deals as a last ditch attempt to get customers to stay who are literally on the cusp of leaving. I can only imagine that if customers are some way from their leaving date then they wouldn't yet be eligible for these deals. Nevertheless, it must be quite frustrating for you. Could you maybe get a cheap text bunble in the meantime?

Well we probably did ring abit too early but nevermind. but even if we ring a few days before it ends and they dont offer us a decent package then we have to wait 30 says to cancel which is stupid.

I just dont want to wait a month and am very impatient :D

Don't worry that's not necessary. If you ask for your PAC at the end of your contract then they have to generate it within 48 hours. Then you can take your number somewhere else immediately. If you merely ask to cancel then not only do you lose your number but you have to wait 30 days.

Besides, for most people in this thread asking to cancel or for your PAC is just a tactic to squeeze the best possible deal out of them. As soon as you do this retentions with do everything possible to keep you. And again don't forget, you cannot call them, they call you (from 08080000133) - don't accept a deal from anybody else or even waste your time asking for one!

Have you actually written asking to cancel on earliest possible date yet?
  • no we havent written yet. Just asked for the Pac Code and then they said ok just never rang us back. Probably wait till next month and try again.

maybe we just approached it wrong.

Rang up and asked to upgrade both numbers (2 phones/contracts coming out of 1 bank account). asked for the Tocco and it would be £30 to just upgrade and stay on same tariff but the omnia is out of stock so had to wait. Then asked if we could get unlimited texts they said no but put us through to promotions (or something like that).

Put on hold and then they went through the offer again but said we really want to get the phone free and get a better tariff. asked for unlimited texts and unlimited internet but they said no. TOld them that we can get it on the internet and we said we were thinking of cancelling (is that the right time? i dont know) and we would be requesting our PAC code. They then give us an address to write to to cancel :/ and then said bye.

No one else rang us so not sure whats happening.

I don't really understand. If you are this far from the end of your contract why are they sending you your PAC without charging you a cancellation fee?

    I work for Vodafone.

If you are unhappy from month 1-15 and want a PAC, you have to pay up front for the PAC code by paying your line rental off in advance by card.

You can upgrade 70 days early yes, but you can also go through to saves too, speak with upgrades, if you're not happy, say so :D. The correct business rules and process is, if a customer asks to get a PAC within 70 days you put them through to saves. So upgrades isn't your only option, you may still have two months until the 30 day notice period, but you can still speak to saves and they'll try to save you.
