First of all I used the number above from a BTlandline of course!
I got through to the 1st salesmam as in closing deals!- Maz was his name
Anyway as nobody is ringing me rang them
Contract took was 18 months on the same conditions as previous as my deal of 125mins 250 texts nmessasges no longer exsists with stc and all rollover etc, and any new contract with different minute usage would not include STC (£5 EXTRA)
and they could not increase my minutes without shafting me
SE W980i for £15, might give another call in my 14 days cool off to get a blue tooth headset and at least ask for more minutes
Also free months insurance and free delivery
( DID ring again got the bluetooth headset for free- vbh 650 which retails for £40)

My current contract finishes on the 12th October. I spoke to someone today about an upgrade, but didn't really get a very good offer. Think I am going to have to threaten to leave again. I don't really want to be paying more than about £15 a month.

When's the best time to threaten to leave? 11th October, now or some time in between?

  • Just thought I'd share my retention offer with the forum, as I did use some of the other deals as a bargaining tool for getting my own!

    I got offered 250 mins + 100 texts, mobile internet, and a SE c902 for £12.50 /month.
I had the option of a 12 or 18 month contract, and I chose the 18 because it means I have to go through this haggling process less often.

GL everyone with your battle with retentions!

 Each to their own I suppose but I wouldn't even consider an 18 month contract. Rententions will only ever offer improved or identical terms and you get a new handset 6 months earlier (old one straight on ebay!). Congrats for getting a C902 on a £12.50 tariff though.

Can I ask what tariff you were on, for the contract just ended?

I was offered the C902, 250 mins, 100 texts for £15, and was holding out for free mobile internet, but they said no. So I'm waiting for them to call back again (hoping they will!). So your negotiation makes me think I should be going for £12.50 too.

Did you tell them exactly what you wanted, and how much you were prepared to pay for it, or did you keep refusing their offerings until they got down to the deal you took?

    thanks,
    Guv

    Hi Guv,
I was on the Anytime 125+ 100 txts discounted to £12.50/month, and I always had mobile internet at £7.50 / month, so my total original commitment was £20/month.

I didn't really do any special bartering, she offered me the above deal with mobile internet with a c702 for £12.50 on the first time she called me, and I said I would have to call her back as I didn't know the phone and wanted to check it on the internet. She gave me her number, and when I phoned back I said I wanted the c902 and she said yes. It was that easy! She also said she would give the discount for the full 18 months, not just for 15 which was nice of her.
One thing which might help: I originally said I was going to leave because of the geographic number price increase (I genuinely was going to leave until they gave me this offer). Perhaps because of the bad press surrounding it, they are giving good deals to those say they are going to leave because of it.
Good Luck, and let me know how you get on!

    They're rubbish!!

Having been offered the C902, 250 texts & 100 mins last week for £15 which I turned down, hoping for more, I had a call from someone else in retentions today. He said the best he could offer was a c902 on my existing tariff, for same price!? ie 100 mins, 50 texts for £15.

He said there was no way I would get the deal I'd been offered last week, based on my spend (so I'm a liar), and there was no record on my account. Looks like I'll be leaving then....

Was wondering what people think about 18 month contracts. Have always had 12 month, I don't like to be tied down for too long, but VF won't give me a 12 month retention deal for the N95 8gb. I really want this phone, considered the Tocco but can't decide. Am sure if I asked for Tocco on 12 month they would give it to mwe, but there is something in bck of head saying on ly N95!

So, should I opt for 18 month?
