Quite strange actually.. not long after I posted that, Vodafone rang me. The woman asked why I wanted to leave, and I explained. She was very apologetic (like most Sales people..) and asked what phone I would want.
I thought I would try my luck and say the Samsung Soul (seeing as that is one of their best handsets available) and she said yeah you can have that free of charge. I said, would that be on the same tariff (£16) that Im already on.. she said no, I can do much better than that.
18 Month
600 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
for £12.50 p/m !!!
And it would be £12.50 for the whole duration of the contract. My phone will be with me tomorrow.
She also gave me her direct number, and said I could pass it on to friends and family if they wanted the same deal?? I duno how legit it is to post it here though, lol
Hi i have pmd you for her number, hope that is ok0 -

Have you thought about putting you complaint on the voda website eforum?
didn't know it existed! I may well try that. There's no way that they should be allowed to call their customers offering 'upgrade' great deals if they aren't going to honour them. Makes me wonder what would have happened if I'd been able to talk to her and to say yes immediately or even the next day, when she did call back?! I've had 3 "upgrade" calls from Vodafone now; the first one wasn't too bad at all but he didn't follow up - but this one was a no-brainer!0 -
Hi
I have 2 phones both on £15 pm for 100 minutes and 50 texts pm. I have been offered the Red LG Viewty and the Sony Ericcson W980i on the same tariff on an 18 month contract.
Is this a good deal and would anyone recommend these phones? I just want the best phones I can get for free but don't like the N95. Would anyone recommend any other phones on Vodafone website?
Also is it worth trying to get some extra texts thrown is for free?0 -

Personally that seems like a bad contract, tariff wise. Those sort of minutes and texts are being offered for a fiver a month nowadays.
Any current phones? No.
Quarter 3 phones, let's wait and see0 -
Terrible deal. I got 500 mins unlimited internet and 100 texts for £22 on a 12 month deal. The internet is £7.50 a month add on to the half price plans.
Make sure you get free delivery as thats often added after you agree a deal.0 -
hi guys
i work for the vodafone retention sales department
if you would like any advice on upgrades or release dates of when we will have a certain hand set in please ask
if you are enquiring about an upgrade then please let me know your current price plan and what you average spend is each month and will be able to let you know what we would offer you in a retention call
I hope not - your input would be so helpful.0 -

honest guv, my current spend was only £16 p/m and the sales people were telling me I am a 'light user' so would not get a decent phone for free. They offered me all sorts of rubbish.. some old Nokia and old Sony Ericsson, which I obviously refused.
Now Im paying only £12.50 p/m for 600 mins and unlim texts with a Free Samsung Soul.. which is quite pricey as it's one of the best selling phones at the moment.. so don't give up hope! You will get a good deal if you keep pushing them, dont take their first offer.
No, I didnt ask about a 12m contract, spose I could have pushed them for one.. but Ive been on an 18month plan for ages now, and Id rather have a longer contract and a lower montly rate (if that makes sense...). I suppose if I'd pushed for 12months I wouldnt have got the £12.50 offer? Who knows?
Nope, didn't get free unlimited internet, but I did get it free for the first month and free insurance for the 1st month (but thats pretty much standard for Voda anyway)
She did't say if it was for existing customers or not. I guess it could be for anyone? She didn't specifiy. It's the best deal I was offered though, and haven't had to pay a penny for the phone, so Im chuffed.
Think I may have messed up. Got the retention call, bartered down to new C902, 250 mins & 100 texts for £15. They said that was their best offer, so I said not interested, hoping they'd give me the free web access I was asking for, and she said OK, bye then and hung up!
I thought I read on here somewhere that they would ring again to try and convince me, but I can't find it now. Once you've had a conversation with retentions, with no successful outcome, will they still ring again, or have I blown it? Is there a number I can call them on?

I'd be VERY suprised if they didn't phone you again!
I think you will get a few more phone calls. When I requested my PAC, the first phone call was the next morning at about 11am ish, but I accepted that deal as it seemed too good to refuse.
I know my partner (who is also on the same account) refused the first upgrade deal, sent of his letter of cancellation and then he refused the 1st retentions offer. I think he had at least another 2 phone calls after that, with the offers getting gradually better. This was over a year ago though, so don't quote me on it.. they may have changed their policy.0
