Had a call from Vodafone today because I am due for upgrade on August 14th. Said I could have a new phone or if I was happy with my current phone a discount on my line rental. Told her I am going to wait until the Sony Ericsson C905 is released, which is also good because hopefully I will be able to threaten to leave and hopefully get a decent deal, not really interested in more mins, just lower line rental. Not sure about pricing for the handset though. Currently on £35 (500 mins - 100 sms) 12 months. BTW Wiki says "The release date for this phone is planned to be on October 7th this year, Q4 as stated by the offical announcement."0

I know it's a tad cheeky to ask but it'd be so handy to have a brief summary of the commercial rules for retentions. For example I understand that under their commercial rules new connections can offer any tariff half price with any phone free on three conditions: Firstly, the phone cannot have a box-price of more than £300. Secondly, the cost must be recouped in total line rental spend and thirdly the 50% discount can't run for the last three months of the 12 or 18 month contract.
Also, can I ask what things we should ask for as part of a retention deal? Alot of people here seem to have negotiated to get free internet and extra mins/texts but apparently there's no point in asking for mobile TV or broaddband as they cannot be included for less than the published rates. Maybe you can confirm this?
Finally, perhaps you could tell us what the guidelines are for having other things thrown in like bluetooth headsets, microSD cards, insurance, delivery etc.. A friend of mine asked for some of these and was told if he wanted them it would come out of the allocated spend for him and he wouldn't get such a good tariff. Again, it'd be so useful to know what the score is before you ask.
Anyway, sorry for the long post everyone...0 -

Current Price Plan-18m Anytime125 STC +1000Txt
Average Monthly Spend over the last 3 (I believe this is what is looked at?):£38, (£25 contract)
-After an offer involving UNLIM texts, UNLIM internet bundle, 600 mins.
-K850i, N95 8GB
-PAC code would be requested if needed!
Also, as has been said, the golden rules of retention so to speak. Perhaps then it would be easier to work out what the maximum we can actually get ahold of is!0 -
Hi all.
I've been with Vodafone for around 4 years now.
I've stayed on the same price plan for ages:
18m contract - £16 p/m
75 anytime minutes
100 texts
Stop the Clock
and rollver minutes (if I dont use them, they rollover to next month's allowance)
I don't tend to use many minutes, and a lot of the time I get a lot rolled over. I tend to text more, so 100 isn't enough, and I usually overspend on texts, making it more like £20 p/m.
Anyway.. my contract is due for renewal, and I've been saying to myself for ages that Im going to leave Voda as the managed to lose my phone when it went away for repair, and were extremely unhelpful.
Went through to the cancellation department to request a PAC code and she started offering me some 'deals'. First one was:
Keep the same Price Plan @ £16 and she would give me the Samsung Soul for free.
I said no - the price plan is not good enough for me.
She then said
150 Mins
500 Texts
Free Samsung Steel
for £17.99 p/m
I said no thanks.
Last offer was a non-hardware one. The above price plan for £10 p/m but no phone included. I said I needed a new phone, as Ive had this one for 18m, so this was no good.
Thing is, there are 3 lines on our account, so our overall monthly spend with Voda is quite high, and we've been with them a long time. So that was that. She requested my PAC code, so Il see what happens.0 -
I'm on the same tariff as you Charl_x so I'd be interested to see what they offer. My contract ends this weekend so please post the outcome to any retention deal you get."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Quite strange actually.. not long after I posted that, Vodafone rang me. The woman asked why I wanted to leave, and I explained. She was very apologetic (like most Sales people..) and asked what phone I would want.
I thought I would try my luck and say the Samsung Soul (seeing as that is one of their best handsets available) and she said yeah you can have that free of charge. I said, would that be on the same tariff (£16) that Im already on.. she said no, I can do much better than that.
18 Month
600 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
for £12.50 p/m !!!
And it would be £12.50 for the whole duration of the contract. My phone will be with me tomorrow.
She also gave me her direct number, and said I could pass it on to friends and family if they wanted the same deal?? I duno how legit it is to post it here though, lol0 -
So that's the £25 per month online promotion at half price. Wonder if they'll throw in unlimited internet on that as well?"Who throws a shoe, honestly?"
