Vodafone Retention Deals

You don't upgrade to get the good deals, you have to wait until 30 days before your contract is set to fully end (so in your case 19th November) then call them to cancel.
At that point you will likely get a call back from retentions, otherwise you're just talking to their upgrade teams who can't offer anything like the same deals.0 -
Thanks very much for this info crispy_chris. Will have another go later this month then. Fingers crossed they offer a better deal!0

Hi All. Trying to get a decent upgrade deal with Vodafone although contract officially runs out on 18th December. Retentions can't get anywhere close to the £23.50 deals mentioned on here-would anyone be willing to provide a confirmation e-mail for these? Vodafone have told me that they haven't heard of these deals before etc! Only half decent deal I can find is on their website using promo codes to reduce the monthly line rental-eg. HTC One Mini on the 4g service, unlimited mins, unlimited texts, 8gb data, 24 months free spotify or sky sports for £39 per month and 3 months half price line rental. Any advice re how to get closer to these £23.50 deals would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, just to be clear, your contract doesn't "run out", the minimum term does. If you don't cancel, it will keep running.
If they are going to offer you a decent deal, then they won't do it until you request your PAC (or give them notice to cancel your line), when you are within 30 days of being able to cancel.
So try them after 18th November, you won't get anything decent off them until then
Also, just because someone else has been offered a deal by retentions, doesn't mean you will.
Just read back the last 10 pages or so of this thread for "tips" on how to negotiate.0 -
Thanks 19lottie82. Will re request PAC code later in November then. Hopefully might be offered a better deal by retentions or at least one that is close to some of the offers I have seen on MSE. Cheers.0

From my experiences i don't think it gives you the discount price in the confirmation email(unless somebody knows different????). In the email it tells you the basic price as if you bought the phone off the Vodafone website and not the price the retentions salesperson gives you. Like a lot of people have said on here, if you do get a good deal with Vodafone keep an eye on you're bills too make sure you are charged the amount agreed and not charged the full amount0

Hi I wondered if anyone has had a call from outbound retentions in the last few days at all? I requested and received my PAC on weds eve but have not been called. The offers from cancellation dept were exactly as per website and not competitive when shopping around. Thanks.0

I've been lurking on these pages for the past 2 months so though it only fair that I let you know the deal I managed. The first time I requested my PAC code I never received a call from the retention team so waited another 30 days and requested another PAC code, only had to wait 5 hours this time and "customer services" phoned. The deal I was looking for was an S4 and a small HTC one (Mini, S, X etc) and a Vodafone sure signal as the coverage in house was poor. £50 a month was my limit.
The lady that called couldn't have been nicer but I played dumb and suggested that I doubted whether she would be able to meet my request, at this stage I said my limit was £40 thinking she would negotiate up, anyways the deal I ended up with was
HTC Mini, unlimited calls and texts and 1GB for £16.50 and an S4 600mins, unlimited texts, 500mb for £24.75 and a £100 credited to my account to cover the cost of the sure signal. So £41 a month and a £100 in my account. I think I could have negotiated more on the S4 but this phone doesn't use anything like what we've been offered so decided I was happy with my lot.
Might be worth suggesting that you're indoor reception is poor to see if you get offered the £100 back. I never mentioned the sure signal just that I had poor reception. She asked if I had insurance and when I said yes she didn't push it at all. So I'm happy with my deal and would like to thank all posters on these pages for helping me save £18 a month. Chuffed!0 -
That is a good deal. Just a question though. If your signal with vodafone is so bad at home why are you bothering to sign up with them for another 24 months? I only get 2g on voda and no 3g within 10 miles of my home. My wife on orange gets 3g faster than our home broadband. after being a voda customer for over 12 years when i request my pac next month there isnt anything vodafone could offer me to persuade me to stay.0

We're in the North East of Scotland and the best coverage out and about is Vodafone, I live in a barn conversion which has 2ft thick granite walls and this is why we have no signal inside the house.0

Hi, My contract is about to run out and I am considering going to a 30 day sim only deal. This would only be for a few month until the new Samsung galaxy comes out then I will be upgrading to that.
Does anyone know if I will still be able to get a retention deal if I request my PAC while on the 30 day plan? or would I have to just stay on the plan i'm on now when out of contract until I decide to upgrade to be able to get a decent retention deal?0
