  • Thought i'd make an account here to share my recent experience with vodafone. On Wednesday I contacted them to terminate my contract (5 months left) mainly because they wouldn't offer me a good early upgrade deal and seen a deal I liked at tesco. Next day, after literally just placing the order with tesco, I get a call from vodafone asking why i'm leaving and I explain that I seen a better deal elsewhere, then he said he'll beat it and made me a 50% discount offer I couldn't refuse.

    iPhone 4S 8GB - free handset
    £21.50 a month
    unlimited minutes
    unlimited texts
4GB data (at first he said 2GB data at £21 a month)
+ I don't have to pay the early upgrade fee

Compared to the O2 deal at tesco:

    iPhone 4S 16GB - £49.99 for the handset
    £22 a month
    300 minutes
    unlimited texts
    500mb Data
+ I would of had to pay the Early termination fee with vodafone

The two things i'm slightly worried about though
    1. It turns out to be a refurb
    2. It takes ages to be delivered as he said their awaiting stock and I should have it within 2-4 days

Still though, I thinks its a pretty good deal and cancelled the order with tesco immediately, what do you guys think?
  • ghost_hardware sounds like a decent deal.

However im led to believe by all Vodafone representatives that you are indeed lying about the deal you have just received. When I pointed out to them I wouldn't renew without a 50% discount that everyone else on the forums are getting, I was told that the people on the forums are liars.

So there you have that sounds like a great deal you've got but you must be lying.
  • I can assure you i'm not lying! I myself find it too good to be true, but that's what the guy on the phone offered me (+0808 number)

I regret not recording the call or getting any actual proof in case they say they made a mistake and cant do it, but he did text me what i was getting and how much for, the text didn't look official or anything as it had a spelling error.

Also, why would I lie? Maybe they didn't offer you a good deal because they thought you was just threatening to quit to get a good deal, where as I was genuinely looking to quit and handed in the 30 day termination notice.
  • And another thing, I didn't ask for the 50% discount he offered it to me
  • Yes I know you're not lying, apologies for the confusion. I was being sarcastic/ironic because Vodafone representatives keep telling me that they are aware that people talk about these deals on the forums but they can't find any record of them being real. Obviously you aren't going to waste your time making stuff up on forums.
  • Sorry, didn't realise you were being ironic, hard to tell when reading text, but yeah I can see where you're coming from. Oh, and my prediction came true, the phone will now take up to 2 weeks to arrive, even though I asked the guy to guarantee/promise me it would be a maximum of 4 days :money: damn. You'll probably get a call from them soon with a better deal.
