I've also received 50% discount and my new price plan has already been applied without receiving the phone yet, but my bill doesn't show the 50% discount yet, only the non discounted price of £43 per month, it should be £21.50. I'm on live chat with vodafone now and their 'investigating'
I think I remember the retentions guy saying that it might not show the discount straight away but im not sure, did they mention anything like this to you?

Hi Andrewc88,
As discussed last week, upgrades are quoted on an individual basis. As such, the deals which are mentioned in this thread may not be available to everyone.
I believe that you've already spoken to one of my colleagues to discuss what we could do for you.Dear Vodafone company representative,
Any chance of a call this week?
Thanks

Hi ghosthardware,
Could you explain how you went about getting this discount. what did you have to say? and was that his first offer?
Also did you have to take out the insurance as well? if so when did you mention you wanted to take out insurance before or after he made the 1st offer?
Thank you
Basically, I rang up to terminate my existing contract which was £13 a month, so in 30 days I would have to pay off 4-5 months early. The next day they rang me and made me an offer, but I refused this as it wasnt very good and continued with the termination. The day after that, I placed an order with tesco and literally seconds after, I get another call and say I've just placed an order with tesco, I'm happy with it and it fits my budget perfectly, he asked what it was, I explained and then he said he'll beat it. At first he offered me an iPhone 5 refurb but I said I'm happy with a new iPhone 4S as I don't really need a top of the range phone, I think (I think) he asked me how much I'm looking to spend a month, I said around £20, he then offered me unlimited minutes, texts and 2GB data at £21 a month, but then he said he made a mistake and it's actually 4GB at £21.50 a month, which was fine with me, he explained as I am a 'decent' customer and that there has never been any problems with me, (I've only been with vodafone since march 2012) that he could offer me that deal which was half price, originally £43 a month, I accepted, and as he was processing the order he asked if I wanted insurance for £9.99 a month, in which I asked "Could I think about it and maybe get it another time" and that was all ok, he then said the phone will take 2-4 days to arrive as they're awaiting stock. The man sounded White British and was very friendly and helpful. I rang customer service up the following day, they said they just received an update from apple and it will take 2 weeks for the phone to arrive, I was a bit disappointed but still decided to stick with it. In the end the guy stuck to his word and I received the phone today and i'm very happy with it. My 50% discount hasn't been applied yet, but I rang today and they said it is in the order notes and their dealing with it, so everything looks good so far, I will update once that discount has been applied.
I'm not sure if this would help but I could PM you the salesman's name if you want.

I'm actually quite puzzled as to how some people are pulling out these amazing deals!
Our family used to have 3 contracts with Vodafone, each one at around £25-£37 a month. Not one upgrade offered to us that is of the same calibre as these here. Usually every contract cycle I'd just go with an external site such as Mobile Phones Direct or something other, but still go with Vodafone. Does that count as me still being a customer with them? Well times seems to have changed and I'm nearing the end of my £32 a month contract (only remaining member of the family on Vodafone, everyone else has migrated to O2) and I love my phones so I'm thinking of upgrading to a Galaxy Note 3. I might as well try my hand at landing a decent deal with Voda before I move to 3 and get the all-you-can-eat data plan for the Note 3 for £34 a month.
Anyone got any tips? I've already sent the 30-day notice for the cancellation but I've not requested a PAC code, should I do that just yet or still wait a bit? It's also quite frustrating that whenever retentions do call, it's always to my parents and not me as they can't talk to me as I'm not the account holder. My parents aren't tech savvy at all and barely know what data is. Hopefully I'll have a bit of luck with this upgrade, if not I'll be saying bye to Vodafone after 10 years and numerous contracts with them! Oh, on a final note, anyone managed to whack up a decent deal for the Galaxy Note 3 with Vodafone?0 -

How on earth can you tell if someone "sounds white"?0 -
Thanks for your help Lee.
Unfortunately, all that was offered was what is already available on website - no retention deal.
Oh well. will have a look to see what's on offer this weekend.0 -

I wasn't sure if I should mention that. I dunno, could just tell...
This might sound wrong and I really don't mean to cause any offense, but with my short experience with vodafone, I've found the foreign (mostly Indian) salesman don't offer very good deals.0
