Hi, have you heard back from them ?

NO :( They rang the day after a few times, and I even said to them can you call me back tomorrow at a certain time and it has been more than a week now.

Any advice what to do now? Ring again and ask for the PAC code again to be brought into their system?
Call back the retentions team on the 0800 number?
Can the Vodafone Web rep here sort me out them calling me again?

Yes just request PAC code again - a few upgrades ago I wasn't offered the deal I wanted so left it a few months, so I was out of contract asked for my PAC code again and then they were all over me with deals. Probably depends who calls you from the retentions centre, whether they are having a good / bad day etc.

If you are already out of contract you seem to stand a better chance of getting a better deal, but this isn't always the case. I got the deal I wanted but others have since got very slightly better (4G rather than 3G or spotify/ sports included) but as my area won't get 4G until at least 2015 I am not that worried and I don't really have time for spotify or sports.

Make sure you have time to spend on this call ... get comfy cos it will take you a while.

Be VERY firm. Tell them that you KNOW you were told you had a 50% discount on your account, tell them that is the ONLY reason you had agreed to the deal, and you will cancel the deal entirely if they renege on that promise .
I believe they record all calls (certainly did when I last dealt with them), so tell them you want them to go back and listen to that call - you'll need to give them an approximate time the call took place.
Make it ABSOLUTELY clear that you only entered into the agreement because of that inducement, it was key to your acceptance of the contract.
If necessary ask to speak to a supervisor.
If they accept and re-instate that 50% make sure that you get an email from the operator concerned confirming the terms, and state that you MUST see that IN WRITING before you will enter into the contract.
Be prepared to walk away .. I know from old that Voda will set up contracts, then will DD a different amount from your account than you agreed, and it takes masses of time and energy (frustration) to get the matter put right. It's why I'm not a voda customer any more.

I wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment, wait until the bill comes through or check your Vodafone account online. I think my last 3 upgrades with Vodafone I have had to call back for various confirmation reasons and the person I spoke to said this or that wasn't correct. The first time it happened I asked to be transfered back to retetions and was told it didn't always show up on the other staff computers but that it was definitely on there. Second time it happened I got a confirmation email saying I was paying full price with no discount - straight on the phone lots of 'right I'm leaving' threats but eventually got through to retentions who send another informal email stating correct terms of contract. Same happened this time with email - however I didn't bother ringing but checked online and it stated correct deal and that was what I was billed.

they said on wed that they were going to listen to the call and get back to me within 48 hours. It is now 52 hours later and ive heard nothing. Do you think they are hoping i go away. Its just so frustrating. The guy even said he knew the time of the original call on monday so it shouldnt be difficult to trace.

I did that yesterday, but I'm wondering if I made it onto their system as they've not called yet. Last time I went to India first (or a call centre that was definitely abroad) and upon telling them I want to cancel was redirected to Cancellations in Britain/Ireland. This time, the guy in India provided me the PAC code himself instead of transferring me to Ireland, so I'm wondering whether that is enough. They were quite prompt in ringing me quickly the day after I got my PAC code last time, wondering whether not getting through to the UK Cancellations team is going to prevent me from getting the call.

  • Ai Ai Ai, it's so frustrating having to play these games with them.
Just rang them up, spoke to a UK based person this time, best he could offer me was the

    s4 mini
600 mins unlimted texts 500mb data
phone free 24 month contract £25/month

Which is just not acceptable when there are people here getting an S4 for less than that price, I said to him I've spoken to people who've got better prices for an S4 and he said it wouldn't make business sense for them to offer deals like that and they probably had up front phone costs to pay.

I asked for my PAC code again, he just retold me the original one I got, hopefully having gone through the UK system this time I'll get flagged up for a call back but I'm not holding my breath. If it isn't a new PAC code and it's just the old one I originally got then I probably won't end up in the system again for them to give me a call back.

    Very frustrating.

thanks vcr. I ended up ringing them back as it was 3 days and i still hadnt heard from them despite the second guy saying 48 hours at the latest.

Anyway this latest guy said that it had been looked into and indeed on the recording I was clearly told £23.50. So thats good.

Shame I had to chase them up for their error though.

One question I have though is that I wanted to change to a 12 month contract but was told I wouldnt necessarily be offered the same deal after 12 months. Even if it is the same phone. Is that true?

    thanks
