Sigh, Just got offered a crap deal tbh by outbound retentions.

I want an HTC One, but seeing as i'm not used to 24 month contracts, the price really has to be right.

I basicly got offered the deal on the website 600 mins/unlimited text/ gig data 3g, except rather then £33 offered for £29. 4G etc would cost way more.

Those that recently got the £23.50 deal with 4G etc, have you been with vodafone long? I've been with them 8 years, always on the £30-£40 contracts. Even a galaxy S4 would cost me £33, where as my younger brother who's been with them 2 years got offered one for 29 I believe.

Sounds like my contract isn't up until the end of november, whats the next step for making them offer something better.

Those of you saying you "finally rang them up" and got the deal, which number did you call and were you pretty much at the point asking for your PAC
  • You need to request your PAC code 30 days before your minimum term is up, you wont get the best deal otherwise.

I think what helps me is that for some reason I have 50% off on mu account. Ive been with them for about 8 years as well

I just rang and quoted dialaphones cheap deals and said I went into carphone warehouse on the way to work and have been offered a deal so just wanted to know what I need to do to leave.

I always say something along the lines of "I dont want to waste your time cos i've checked what you have for offer on your website so I know you wont be able to offer me what I need to stay"

It's sort of reverse psychology which panders to their ego!

Very worrying development. I rang up today to change my deal to a 1 year deal. The guy said no problem, I asked him check what price plan they had me down for with the 24 month deal

He said £47. But, as I posted a couple of days ago, I was told it was £23.50 because I had a 50% discount on my account.

This guy said "no there no mention of that and there's no way you should be entitled to it eithe"r. :(:(

My currnet deal that is expiring also has a 50% discount for some reason as well though. They have said they will check the recording of the conversation.

What are my chances. I'm 99% sure i got the guy at the time when I renegotiated to confirm it was £23.50. I mean why else would I have posted that on this thread previously.

Can they check and say no it was a mistake tough luck or is there any other way they can wriggle out of it?

They are calling me back tomorrow and I need to know how to play it. My current bill is £21.50 there is no way I would suddenly go to a £47 bill willingly!

    ANy advice?

You got me worried that my 50% discount hadn't been applied when i was offered the £23.50 offer, so got onto the 24 hour live chat thing, as £47 a month would cripple me.

    It has:T:D.

So has the 16 months of 0800/0854/0870 numbers they gave me when the phone didn't arrive on time.

If i was in your situation, and within the 7 days, i would tell them cancel the whole thing, ask for my pac code, and hopefully force their hand. I couldn't afford the £47 though so would have no choice

Make sure you have time to spend on this call ... get comfy cos it will take you a while.

Be VERY firm. Tell them that you KNOW you were told you had a 50% discount on your account, tell them that is the ONLY reason you had agreed to the deal, and you will cancel the deal entirely if they renege on that promise .
I believe they record all calls (certainly did when I last dealt with them), so tell them you want them to go back and listen to that call - you'll need to give them an approximate time the call took place.
Make it ABSOLUTELY clear that you only entered into the agreement because of that inducement, it was key to your acceptance of the contract.
If necessary ask to speak to a supervisor.
If they accept and re-instate that 50% make sure that you get an email from the operator concerned confirming the terms, and state that you MUST see that IN WRITING before you will enter into the contract.
Be prepared to walk away .. I know from old that Voda will set up contracts, then will DD a different amount from your account than you agreed, and it takes masses of time and energy (frustration) to get the matter put right. It's why I'm not a voda customer any more.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
  • been with vodafone since 98 i was considering the s4 mini phoned up and asked as i saw it online for £17.00 a month threw talkmobile said they would match it but i would need to pay a deposit of £86.00 where talkmobile was free should i wait a while and try again or just go to talkmobile cheers .
  • I always ask vodafone to email me details of my new contract after I've re-negotiated and they've never had a problem with that - that way it's in writing what's been offered.

    Just upgraded:

    iPhone 5 - free
    £25.90 per month
    Unlimited mins/Unlimited text/1gb data

Plus credit to cover price of sure signal box (we do have 3 vodafone contracts though so this helps).

I sometimes wonder if it is worth carrying on with Vodafone. None of this was shown in my bill. I have just had an email back, from India, saying that the sure signal has been credited but that line rental will be £37 per month!
The same happened with my other daughters phone last year!

they said on wed that they were going to listen to the call and get back to me within 48 hours. It is now 52 hours later and ive heard nothing. Do you think they are hoping i go away. Its just so frustrating. The guy even said he knew the time of the original call on monday so it shouldnt be difficult to trace.
