Vodafone Retention Deals

how long you have been with VF doesn't come in to it either, you need to be spending over your tariff basic plan cost every month, that's what makes them profit.
if you don't make them profit, they couldn't give two hoots if you leave.
I can understand what you are saying and on a very basic business level it is somewhat correct. However anyone that is on the equivalent of the £30+ contacts (regardless of what they are paying - if they have haggled hard previously probably somewhere between £20-£25 for a top range phone) will still be making Vodafone a massive profit. I'm not sure you understand just how phone contracts work or the massive amount of profit they make even on heavily discounted ones, or what they actually pay for the handsets.
Its exactly the same with Sky deals in that people don't really go over a tariff. You don't just need to be on the high end packages to get the big discounts as every customer will make them a profit regardless. Anyway companies would rather have a smaller profit than no profit.
Regardless I got the deal I wanted (see above), and I have not been over my tariff for at least 6 years - bar the odd 0845 number.0 -
Hi Guys,
Not sure if I have done this right, my renewal date is 03/10/2013 so I rang Vodafone today to ask them to terminate the contract, they said I could call for my PAC code on the termination date.
They did attempt to offer me something, but it was a god awful deal...to be honest I expected they would at-least try but sadly not.
Do you think I should expect a call in the next few days? or should I be waiting until the renewal date itself?
My deal was £21 a month for a Samsung Galaxy s2, with 300 mins, unlimited texts and 250mb data.

@ Matski
I have nearly always waited until my contract has ended, sometimes months afterwards if the phone I want isn't out. They will offer you a deal and it could be a good one, I've done it once several years ago and got what I thought then was a good deal.
If they don't offer you the contract you want just wait until yours has finished then ask for the PAC code and see what they come back with then.0 -

Sorry Lottie but it is pretty much the opposite. Those that use nearly all their tariff or go over or are heavy users if on unlimited tariffs are less likely to get a good deal. Compare this with someone on the same tariff who is a lower user and is therefore proportionally paying more per call / text / data. You can see the lower user makes them more money.0 -

Hey Guys,
So I did get a call back almost exactly 24 hours later! they offered me a good deal I think, a 30% discount, I imagine it would be more if I was with them longer or had been paying a higher tariff.
Galaxy S4 - free
£25.90 per month
Unlimited mins/Unlimited text/1gb data plus 3 month unlimited data
Very happy with that!0 -
has anyone got any good deals on 4g sim only contracts? they tell me they can't touch them. Have other people found the same?
thank you0 -
THe problem is we cant never tell discount the customer get is true or not.
But one thing is for sure - the longer the customer stays with VF, the better the incentives are. So the discount factor/credit applied to the account for the contract terms varies widely, so there is no way of checking
However , I do think £19 per month and S4 for free is not possible anywhere ?0 -
Phones been due an upgrade for a few months, rang up today asking for s4 deals. Wouldn't budge under what's on the website, asked about S3 and i was shocked to be offered some derisory terms on that phone, so I just asked for my PAC code. Fingers crossed I get a call like some people on here have.0
