I was contacted by the Vodafone retentions department today after requesting my PAC code.

To keep me as a customer they offered me unlimited texts, unlimited calls, 1Gig of data and 1Gig of BT OpenZone WIFI for £15.50 per month on a 12 month contract. This is a sim only deal.

For the first three months the data is unlimited too.

I thought this was a good deal, and I accepted the offer. I don't think these deals are generally available, only if you are attempting to leave.

Anyway, I thought I'd post so my fellow money-savers know what's still available via retentions. Hope this info is useful to someone.

The gentleman from retentions handling the call was excellent. Professional and straightforward.

After a lot of haggling, I got this deal back in March. Supposedly they don't have a lot of leeway on SIMo. The top line of your monthly bill will be £20 odd, then discount is taken off.

I got similar (but with 500mb BT openzone wifi and 1.2gb data allowance) for £10.50 per month for 12 months.

This is just £5 off their standard SIMO price for their cheapest Red deal isn't it? Tiny got a better deal although 1.2gb is a weird number... Anyone got better?

I think it's actually 1.25gb but I haven't got the paperwork to hand to check - it was their basic 250mb plus 1g add on

I asked for my PAC last Thursday. Got a call on Friday offering the Samsung S3 Mini for £18 a month with:
    Ulnd Calls
    Ultd Texts
    1 Gig data
    & 5 Gig BT wifi

Refused as could pick up the S3 mini sim free for £199 & bung a £10 a month sim in it for roughly the same cost over 2 years, bonus being not tied in for the 24 months.

That's a heck of a SIMO deal you think you can get - is that with Voda?

Sorry if I mislead you, I was thinking of getting the £10 goodybag with GiffGaff which has 500 mins of calls the same data & texts but no wifi. As I only average around 300 mins of calls a month its more than enough for me.

I did a Vodafone upgrade yestaday and using Martin's negotiating pointers I managed to get the following deal:

    • I pay them £28 every month for the next 24 months (£672 over the lifetime of our agreement).
    • They give me a Sony Xperia Z (black) smart phone with no upfront handset cost.
    • They give me a allowance of Unlimited UK calls, Unlimited text mesages and 2GB of data usage every month.

I see on the Vodafone website that this deal is available to new customers at £38 per month so I have negotiated a saving of £10 per month or £240 over the lifetime of the agreement.

    Is this a reasonable deal?

Thanks Martin, your negotiating tips seem to have worked for me.
