Jonesbo - check out post #4615 on this thread (about 4 pages back - sorry not sure about links). Our buddy VodafoneInsider made some good comments about what you can get on S4 or iPhone 5.

Iphone 32GB. Go for £25 Liner Rental plus £13 Iphone Insurance (cancel next day). Phone will be free.

S4 - Aim for £25 plus £10 for Insurance (again cancel insurance next day)

I would do these deals without hesitation. Depends on the adviser. If they can get you to pay £52 and full price for the phone they would. Remember we DO NOT have your best interests at heart, thats the honest truth, it's a numbers game. So haggle.

Here you go! Just as good as a quote. Also a few posts further on VI talks about 50% tariff discounts...

Yeah I did see that, though I didn't ask about the insurance thing so will try that.

My understand from what VFI said is that it's partly based on targets and time of the month Etc. as to what they'll offer you.

I've read quite a few posts on here and haven't seen to many people actually get that deal. I pushed him down to a point where he wouldn't go any further... £42 to £29.

Also curious as to why he couldn't do the actual deal in the end if he can supposedly do 50% discounts all day long according to VFI.

Would be happy with £29 if I could get the VEA discount too, but as I said above I'm unclear as to whether that's possible?

It's a tricky one because you always think you are getting a reasonable deal and never quite know if you can push it further. I wonder if there's anyone on here that's done that - i.e. pushed it that little bit further?

It's clear that we are always told it's the best they can do, but when some staff are saying that with a crap deal, it makes it hard to know whether the guy you are talking to is genuinely giving you the best deal he can.

You could try the insurance tack - i.e. "been thinking about getting insurance too, could you knock another £5 off the tariff if I took out phone insurance with this deal?"

    No harm in trying.

I'd love to know if they actually do speak to the manager or just wander round the call centre!

Yep the other they always do is claim that the offer is only open then and there.

He didn't actually do that this time. But what I'd also like to know is if I say I'll think about it, can I go back say next week and say I want to take up that deal?

Obviously you can't call retentions, so if you turn down their deal, can you go through normal customer services and get them to authorise it if you change your mind and retentions never call back?

I've a feeling this has been asked already - have a search back through this thread. If memory serves you can ask them to call you back but worst case scenario, wait for your PAC to expire and then ring for a new one?

    Well they certainly work quickly...

Just got a call, spent about 10m on the phone going through different packages.

He's calling me back tomorrow but think I'll probably go with the following deal:

    Free Galaxy S4 | Unlimited Calls + Texts | 2GB data | £29.40 a month (from £42)

Tried to get them lower and asked for free 08 numbers, but he said just couldn't do it. So is this a good deal based on what other people have been offered? Seems ok to me.

Out of interest he said that max discount he could do was 20%, needed a manager to get the 30% he gave me...to the point that we never did the deal in the end because the manager had left. True or not, that's what he said.

Also can I get the vodafone vea 20% discount on top of this? He said I wouldn't be able to, but I thought some people have said you could?

Your deal is pretty much what they offered me but I knocked them back after reading this forum. I pay 28 just now and don't want to pay more. I don't need unlimited mins but I do need a good deal of text/data. I've already had one pac, I'm gonna try again at start of July and push for a sub 25deal with 100mms, though I'm sceptical it'll happen, no one on here has been offered cracking deals. I've already organised a giff gaff sim and I'm gonna keep an eye out for a deal on o2 in the coming months, just for their coverage.
