They advised that unlike normal customer services they're not paid commission. Who this nonsense about getting insurance then cancelling it doesn't apply. They were extremely helpful and found a package to suit my needs over the life of my contract. It turns out there aren't any packages available with 600 minutes that give you 1gb of data. Check online it's true. Turns out anyone who says they've got 1gb of Internet for anything less than 30 quid must have a discount. Make sure You check your first bill as you're probably in for a surprise. I also mentioned Vodafone insider. They don't know how he/she is and he/she is free to give his/her views. To surmise, very pleased with my deal, very happy to commit to Voda
so whats ur deal ??0 -
So I got the outbound call back today and was told that the SIMO unlimited tariff couldn’t be discounted any more than £15.50 (despite saying that I could do better by hopping onto a 3 deal and then back to a Vodafone unlimited deal with cashback). The outbound guy was decent and said he’d offer me whatever he could, but they couldn’t do that.
However, he did add unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone minutes (capped at 3000) to my existing plan for free, which clinched it as the wife is on Voda. I’ve passed on the international texts and MMS coz I mostly use Whatsapp or email anyway for pictures or international.
So the deal is (SIMO)
600 minutes
3000 texts
1GB Data
1GB BT Openzone Wifi
Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone Calls
£10.25 per month
I'm relatively happy with that. I could have done a bit better by switching (take note uber-money savers!) but I'm ok with what I've got in the end.
To respond to Cymru (who is obviously very happy with Vodafone) - most people here are trying to negotiate a discount and that's what I did. My deal (above) was actually 50% off a £15.50 tariff (600 mins) plus £3 for the extra 500mb of data, taking me up to 1gb. It's a SIMO plan, hence the price, but you could get a cheap phone if you wanted to keep the price below £30 pcm.
There will be no surprises when the bill comes - I've already had a text confirming the deal.
The others on this thread are recounting similar experiences, depending on their own circumstances, but hopefully useful to those aiming to renew or upgrade.0 -
The deal I got is a 24 month deal unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 1gb of Internet at £33 a month. The phone is supplied free. Very happy with this as the standard deal for a new customer gives only 600 minutes and 500mb of data. I work in the service industry so realise that some people are very unrealistic. I didn't see my negotiations as a battle, unlike some. If they couldn't give me a decent deal I'd have gone elsewhere. It's as simple as that0

thats the standard deal they seem to be offering 33 pounds. if indeed you got the s4. the normal price plan is My plan
24 months, Unltd minutes, Unltd texts , 1 GB mobile internet data
Red plan - includes 2GB of UK Wi-Fi
£37
you got it for 33 pounds . thats a 10 percent discount0 -
I know. A 10% discount. The standard deal is 600 minutes, unlimited minutes and 500mb of internetvat £33 for a new customer. i got unlimited minutes and 1gb for the same cost. I recognise that a company needs to make a profit so they can invest in their network for my future. If they didnt investnid soon complain. My supermarket doesn't give me my shopping free as I've shopped there before.0

yes thats one way to look at it0

You could have got 20% discount if you work for one if their "corporate discount" companies (or even if you knew someone who does apparently!)
Interesting views about a company that makes a decent profit each year whilst still offering knock down deals and paying cashback providers etc... But this thread is about getting the best retention deals so I'll limit my response to the above!0 -

agreed also apprently pays no corporation tax, any way we move on0 -
It is. I'm not criticising anyone else's approach. I found my involvement with the web relations team to be superb. They called me back when they said they would and I'm very happy with the deal I've got0

If you are happy with your deal then fair play to you.
Now I adopt the attitude that Vodafone, like the vast majority of massive international firms are not interested in your future they are interested in one thing and one thing only - PROFIT.
Did you know that Vodafone Paid No UK Corporation Tax in 2013 Despite £294m Profit. Now think of how many hospitals, how many pre schoo nursery places could have been created with that money. That's your future and your children's future.
And you're concerned about doing the decent thing with Vodafone.
Here read THIS and tell me what you think0
