Wait until you are in your last month - then ring for your PAC ... shows you are serious about leaving.

It was her attitude that got me. Absolutely disgusting for a supposed customer service advisor.

Look at it this way - you've rung up early to ask about an upgrade - they don't really have to offer you anything as it will cost you money to leave. Even when you are in a position to leave many won't and will accept what they are told - if you are lucky you get a small discount. Ringing to request your PAC signals that you are going ... hence a call from retentions to make better offers.

That said sometimes the customer service is poor - but they will be limited in what they can offer anyway.

    Hi all

I have two 12 months contracts £36 a month each with vodafone both expiring within a week. I rang them today in the hope of getting a good offer but ended up with a PAC code without any sort of offer at all. They texted me the PAC codes for both phone numbers soon after the call.

I was hoping someone will call me from retentions but about 4 hours later I received another automated text message on both numbers with the PAC code again. Does this mean that they have decided not to call me?

I was hoping to get a good deal on samsung galaxy s4, something better than they have on their website. Maybe they decided that it is not worth it since they will have a lot of pre-orders anyways?

If they are not going to offer me anything, I will go with phones4u where I will at least save £100 each on both contracts.

You're unlikely to get a call back same day, especially as its a bank holiday. Maybe wait until next week.

I've had a similar experience to some others - used the Vodafone deals twitter first of all which seemed to be good but the deal was rubbish.

Rang to get my PAC and after a lot of back and forth got offered the Xperia Z for £30 a month on a 2 year deal but that's still nothing special - been with Voda for 10 years and expected a bit more and I'm not averse to having a different handset but nothing was forthcoming but the adviser seemed mortally offended that I wanted my PAC and to try my luck elsewhere!

Be interesting to see if anybody calls me back or offers anything in the next few days, will update if I get anywhere :)

To be perfectly honest, I don't know what's going on with the Twitter/Web Relations Team at the moment.

I was in recent contact with them but they were hopeless, saying they couldn't offer any discount on the published SIMo deals. This was in marked contrast to my dealings with them a year ago when they offered me a 50% discounted deal, which I was happy to accept.

So I ended up negotiating a deal myself with retentions, and surprise surprise, got an acceptable deal! But it took a lot of hard bargaining!!

This is because the retentions team of any network have more flexibility to offer deals than the usual upgrade/cs staff.

A lot of front line staff will tell you they have no flexibility on SIMO deals. I was told the same by T-Mobile, and reading the 3 retentions thread, they don't really negotiate on SIMO deals either.

The market is changing, and, as you noted, it's a lot harder to get a decent deal than it used to be!

Sorry to contradict you but with regard to Vodaphone, which after all is the subject of this thread and not T-Mobile, and as I say in my previous post, a year ago the VF web team organised an excellent deal for me, far better than the retentions department were offering me. But this year, I've found it to be the opposite! :(

I was merely using T-Mobile and 3 as examples that the lack of negotiation wasn't confined to Vodafone.

And as I said in my post, things are different today than a year ago.
