Woohoo - finally!
I got me a decent retention deal after 3 calls and much haggling, I got:
Galaxy sIII with unlimited texts and calls, unlimited data for first 3 months and 1gb per month thereafter plus a free screen protector.
24 month contract - £24 per month.
I have an iPhone 4 at the moment so will ebay that for a little bit of pocket money on top!
Happy with that0 -

That's a good deal. Can I ask what contract you were on before, and if your monthly bills regularly went over your contract cost? I've been trying to get vodafone down to around £26-28 a month for the 2gb/month contract but £31 is the best they've offered me so far.
Might try one last time before purchasing the S3 sim-free and switching to virgin mobile/giffgaff.0 -

Previously on a £20.50 contract with 300 mins, unlimited texts and 250mb data that they recently upped to 500mb. I used very little in the way of texts/minutes and rarely went over my data or minimum payment (just the odd MMS or 0844/0870 call that wasnt covered by my allowance). I rang and basically said that I would prefer to stay with them for convenience and their service. I said I would really like the S3 and knew for a fact that someone I knew had got the sIII for £22/month (as mentioned previously) and she said she might be able to do it for £26 so she did a bit of searching... and said she would meet me in the middle at £24. It will Appear on my bill at £37 a month minus a £13 discount every month. Bingo!
Good luck0 -
Just phoned Vodafone again to see if they could offer me a good deal and "the best" they could offer me was £36 a month on their Vodafone Red deal, compared to the £31 a month I was offered last time retentions phoned me :rotfl:
Looks like I'll definitely be leaving Vodafone then!0 -

Outbound retentions almost always have better deals than if you call yourself.0 -

Oooh, watch those first few bills/direct debits. My experience with voda in the past suggests that they will 'forget' the £13 discount, and will direct debit the £37 for the first 2 months or so. You will get it back after kicking off, but make sure your bank has enough in in case this happens.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
OK here goes..
I have been following this thread for the last two months as my contract is ending on the 27th feb.
Last year I tried to haggle and get the iphone 4s on a good deal but failed and I requested my PAC code. A week later, they rang and offered me the S2 for £36 a month (300 mins, unlimited texts, 500mega bombs) on a 12 month contract. I was happy with this.
Two weeks ago, I asked for the S3 and they offered me the following
£42 a month for unlimited mins, texts and 1gb data 12 months contract
or
£27 a month for unlimited mins, texts and 1gb data 24 months contract
I declined and by mistake asked to cancel, rather than ask for my PAC code. So today I rang up and requested my PAC code. The advisor said i should wait a week or two as my contract ends on the 27th. However I will ring them up on sunday (27th of Jan) and request it again.
eckky thump, it's a lot to pay every month. I know the S3 is the wizzy new model, but in your shoes (I have an S2and love it!), I'd hang on to the S2 and get one of these deals. http://shop.tescomobile.com/sim-only?gclid=CPm74p7Xg7UCFePHtAodgTQAiA
Put the cost difference away in a savings account, and then put them towards the next new phone that comes out - I know it would be skipping a generation, but it would mean you might be able to have the S4 - or whatever they called it - as soon as it comes out.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. <<<<Touch wood>>> I've only ever had one billing hassle with vodafone (payment taken too early) - I went instore and they sorted it out straight away. This is kinda the reason that I want to stay with them. I was with Orange at one time and they sucked at customer service!0 -

I can't figure out how this retentions caper works at all - seems totally random!
How long have you been with them? I wonder if its down to that? I'm not a big spender but I have had this number for about 6 years: it was my ex's contract for the first few years - and he was a big spender - then I took it over when we split.0 -

I've been with them for around 2 and a half years. 18 month contract, then 12 month sim-only contract. I know it's not the longest amount of time, but I went over my monthly bill quite for a few months (poor account management from my side). And as far as I'm aware networks tend to look at spend and not loyalty when it comes to offering retention deals.0
