Vodafone Retention Deals

I'm currently paying £26 a month on Vodafone for 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500 MB data. I'm after a Galaxy S3, which I can pick up on a similar tariff from either phones4u or Carphone Warehouse, for the same amount per month, without any cost upfront (via the Orange network). By contrast, the best deal Vodafone could offer for the same phone online was £37 a month with £29 upfront cost. My contract ends at the beginning of February.
Called them on 11/1, requested my PAC. Said that I had seen a better deal elsewhere, and after he put me on hold to speak to his manager, he said that they could offer the same deal - no upfront cost, £26 a month staying on the same tariff that I'm on. I declined, since it wasn't better than the Orange offer and I could make use of Orange Wednesdays.
Got a call from Vodafone on 14/1, but wasn't able to take the call. They called again today (15/1) and it was someone from the "Loyalty" department. She asked me again the reasons that I was leaving, and I told her about the Orange offer and surprisingly she said that she couldn't match that, and hoped that I would consider Vodafone again in the future.
It's a shame really, because if Vodafone would offer me something just a bit better than what I could get with Orange, I'd probably stick with them. I would have thought she would have attempted to offer me the same deal as I was offered previously when I requested my PAC, which would have been good as a starting point. I might give them a little longer to come back to make a better deal, but not much longer.0 -
I believe Vodafone know they aren't the force they used to be. Phone tariffs have become cheaper and they can't compete. I know a few people who were with Vodafone and they all say the same things that they're too expensive considering the low amounts of calls and data they give you. Ok so some do manage to get a good deal still but others just move on.0

Up until last June I had been a Vodafone customer for at least 12 years. When upgrade time came I had more or less decided to move to someone else but waited for the call from retentions after requesting PAC. I was all up for a good haggle but when asked why I was thinking of leaving I said the data packages available were too low compared to someone like 3. The guy just gave up there and then,no fight, nothing. I wasn't bothered about not being given a good deal (any deal in fact)but absolutely amazed that Vodafone gave in without any effort at all to try and keep me.0

I was reading this thread last night and phoned vodafone today to see what they could do for me .. I am currently on iPhone3GS and paying £36 a month for 500mins u/l texts and 500mb
My deal isnt actually up until April but I went with the 3 month in advance thing and after a lot of toing and froing, I have got the Galaxy S3 for £25 a month starting from today for u/l texts, u/l calls and 1gb of dataAm happy with that as PAYG doesnt really work out cheaper for me as I use it a lot and most of the cheaper options arent yet available in most of Northern Ireland
The two best things I have done with my life

Did you request your PAC first or just ask them for a good deal? If they had offered me that, then I would've taken it...0 -

I spoke to them AGAIN yesterday and would not budge on £29 for a S3. Wanted £49 for the handset if i went lower on same contract as now. Rubbish. My PAC code expires before my contract so will request a new one and give them one last chance before I move.0 -
