I'm currently just past the earliest date when I can renew, I've had the first phonecall after tweeting them and asked what they can offer in comparison to a deal on the Virgin Website for an S3. I was advised by Vodafone to take the Virgin deal as they can't get anywhere near it. Whilst I presume that's the truth I think his 'we' refers to him and not Vodafone, especially their retentions team.

Should I now ask for my PAC or leave it until my contract has around 5 weeks remaining?

Their twitter team claim iPhone contracts are fixed as on website. This is not true. Retentions can do better, so you're better asking for a PAC.
  • Received a callback offering Samsung Galaxy S2 with Unltd Mins + Texts + 1gb data for £16.50 over 24 months. Tempted by this but the inflexibility of 24 months leaves a nagging doubt.

I asked about the S3 but was told £26 for this phone on same deal.

    Any thoughts?
  • How many times do retentions call?

    Just been offered:

    iPhone 5 32GB
    24 months
    £49 for handset
    £37 monthly

unlimited calls + texts plus 1GB of data.

Trying to judge if this is a good deal and whether or not retentions will continue to offer better if I hold out. Any ideas?

On it's own, no but coupled with the non-negotiable price increases over our previous 2 years with them and 2 x 1 wk outages in local service, I think that's giving them a fair crack at keeping us.

And to top it all, our local mast has been down again for 2 days with no ETA for a repair. 3rd time in the life of this contract

My contract finishes on 23/01/13, i can upgrade now if i want, i received a call today from vodafone offering me an upgrade of
    HTC One X + Free
    Ult mins
    Ult txt
    1gb
    24 months @ £32
I declined as I have never and will never take out a 24 month contract to long a time to go with the one phone especially when the change so quickly and with the up and coming 4g launch. I was then told the same phone and tariff for 12 months would be £52 and £39 for the handset. No thanks I can get the new nexus 4 and tmobile full monty plan for £40 a month. So I now need to decide whether I want to wait and request my pac or just jump ship now as i can see vodafone getting anywhere near the deal i can get on the nexus. And on a side not tmobile/orange or EE whatever you want to call them seem to have superior coverage compared to vodafone

Where is the T-Mobile Nexus deal?
  • Just got an s3 unlimited calls texts and 2 gb data for 22pm for 24mth out of vodafone by asking for PAC code and then dealing with retentions when they called back the following day. Do not cancel contract just ask for PAC.
Others appear to be getting similar deals. If you sell the s3 then you are on sub £8 pm with no need to chase cash back etc.
Asked them for unlock code at same time and was told that they would let me have if I needed it.

Spoke to Retentions yesterday and they said they couldn't do a S3 for less than £25! They really do lie through their teeth.
    I settled on a S2 Unltd Mins+Texts plus 1.5gb for £16.50 pcm over 24 months. I was keen on a S3 but not at £25 pcm.

Next month I shall be phoning to request my PAC as seen some good deals elsewhere and will wait and see what retentions offer me. Just one question- what telephone number shows up when retentions phone you. Just in the past I've had some calls claiming to be from vodafone that weren't and just wanted to make sure was legit
