I have two contracts, one of which has an upgrade available on it, perhaps the Vodafone rep can confirm if someone should be calling me from E2save/Carphone warehouse offering me an upgrade on behalf of Vodafone, this seems very suspicious to me.

I'm also a bit miffed as well in regards to the upgrade, seemingly I can't speak to anyone on the phone to do this, and HAVE to do this online, i've been thinking of moving on from Vodafone and this is just another mark in the against field, I have been a customer, loyal and courteously paying and this is how we get treated, it's not on, I don't want to order a phone online I want to order with a person. I did go through the same thing when my last contract was up I went through the same thing, but a nice chap from the Retentions team contacted me and we arranged something.

    Hopefully you can help.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

Too late now my notice period has been activated! At least when I need a new handset I will be a 'new customer'.
Must say though I am dissapointed with the response from vodafone. First guy lied through his teeth (won't) be able to access internet through my iphone. The other two offered nothing as an incentive to stay, only the standard 12 month sim only deals I could get online.
I think because I didn't want an upgrade maybe they don't have the same interest. Also as I have another contract for my daughters phone with 6 months to run perhaps I am not a priority as they are still getting money off me!

doesn't matter that you've activated your notice period, if anything it should work in your favour. expect a phone call, and those will be the people who can do the proper good discounts

Can anyone from Vodafone comment on this at all?

Just upgraded one of my contracts in store yesterday, got the Galaxy SII for OH, just had phone call from upgrades department trying to fob me off with a nokia C5-03 on a 24 mth contract with my 300 mins/unl txts for £26 pm, then if I wanted I could get a HTC wildfire or Iphone 3gs, no thanks I can get a better deal in the store, quite shocked with the offers, and they were all on 24 months, the phone I have Nokia 5230 keeps switching off and thats after only about 16 months so won't be signing no 24 month plan.

At this rate the notice will be going in to cancel, which after 12 years loyalty isn't the first time i've done it:mad:

  • Has anybody done well out of VF retentions lately?
My offers were rubbish & Smitchy has done better in store!
Notice also that we both have more than one contract with VF, I think my theory from my earlier post 'I think because I didn't want an upgrade maybe they don't have the same interest. Also as I have another contract for my daughters phone with 6 months to run perhaps I am not a priority as they are still getting money off me!' may have been closer to the mark than I thought.
  • Just extended my contract.

    Didn't want a new phone.

    900mins
    3000texts
    500MB data

    £10/month for 12 month.

When do you ask for PAC code and give 30 days notice?
I have 60 days left of my contract, so can I do it between now and up to 30 days before the contract expires?

In terms of retention offers.... I really just want a SIM only as I can only afford £10 ish a month. Is it likely Vodafone will offer me anything or should I just go for Giffgaff straight away?

Ask for a PAC code but on that call just insist you want your code & need to think etc. Then you get calls from retention the next day.

Offered the 900 mins etc as above poster when asked for pac but settled for 300mins, 3000 texts, 500GB & a free Sure Signal Box for £10 for 12 months.

Happy with that because we moved to a dodgy signal area & there was no way I would use the volume of calls, data or texts.

Cheers Vodafone. Well happy. £2 more than Quidco-O2 etc but at least I know I have a signal in my house.

Called vodafone today & gave my 30 days notice, apparantly retention now means you can have the same as everyone else can get on the website!
From some of the deals offered to others above in this thread it would seem they don't want me anymore ;(

I agree with you, Vodafone told me that if I can get a better deal elsewhere then I should go. This is not the way I would have expected a company like Vodafone to behave towards loyal customers.

It seems that are only willing to offer a reasonable deal on older phones, if you want one of the latest then the best offer will be from their web site.

It’s a shame when companies forget that it is cheaper to keep existing customers than hunting for new ones.
