Vodafone Retention Deals

Well this was my first upgrade as my first 24 month contract was up at the end of August with VF. I had been reading all the mobile phone threads for the last few months trying to decide what I would like to do (and being concerned about long contracts etc). My DH was with 3 and since I had never had any problems with VF we decided to see if a deal was on the table for us or just to go with GG sims. I ordered a GG sim ready to swap it into my Blackberry as I really could take or leave any deal.
I rang at the end of July and said I would like my PAC number and an unlock code for my Blackberry please. I was very polite and so was the young man from VF. Of course he asked why I wanted to leave and I told him I was just considering all options until the 30 days were up. He offered two deals which were not that good but I politely thanked him for his help - and he was helpful - gave me my PAC there and then and the unlock code for my BB.
I then received a couple of texts saying VF were sending my PAC code - even though I already had it! Then I managed to connect with an actual call the next morning with a very nice bloke. He said he was ringing to give me my PAC but I just politely told him I already had it. Then he asked me what I would like to do and we had a bit of a chat. I told him I was interested in the Desire S and he immediately gave me a price that I was happy with and said 300 mins (I already had this and was happy with the mins) unlimited Texts, 500 mb data and 100 picture texts. I was really OK with this except for the data. I told him I would want at least 1GB. He was so great that he actually went to 750 data and then added a discounted 500 gb making a total of 1.250 data plus 2GB BT Openzone. Unusual but perfectly OK. Of course somewhere in there I let it slip that if I got the right deal for mine my DH would like the same phone for the same price! I made his day. However, once we had agreed what would be suitable for me and mine I told him thanks very much but I would like to think about it for a couple of days. He was not working until two days later but I told him to make me his first call at a certain time. He called exactly when he said he was going to and we sealed the deal:
Was: £25 for Blackberry Curve, 300 mins, Unlimited Text and I think 250 data (didn't use it much on the BB as it was so slow!)
Now: 24 month contract, HTC Desire S x 2 (free/new), 300 mins, Unlimited Text, 1.250 Gb Data, 100 MMS (picture texts etc) and 2GB BT Openzone (yet to know how to use this!). For the princely sum of £40 for the two every month.
Despite all the bad things I have read about VF and their customer service I haven't (touch wood) ever had a bad customer service call so far. So I say thank you for the good service I have received and of course I wouldn't hesitate to complain if I had to. Oh and we are loving the phones!LBM: June 2010 DMP started: 1/8/2010

Looks like a similar deal offered to me today aswell sunfleur.
300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB mobile internet and 1GB BT Openzone Wi-Fi and Vodafone Passport including HTC Desire S (free) for £20 per month for 21 months then £26 for next three but I can upgrade 3 months before contract ends. Quite happy with that especially as they had previously kept saying I had to pay for the phone.
So very similar to yours except no picture text messaging and I do that quite a lot.
Didn't ask for this to be emailed to me though - drat!!0 -
I have been with Vodafone for a number of years and now out of contract. I was disappointed that the upgrades offered were not at all comparable with other networks and would like to stay but it would actually cost me more to stay. I am wondering why I have not been offered anywhere near the same offers as some people on this board. I have already requested my PAC. Can anyone help?
I want to keep a blackberry and upgrade to either curve 3g or Bold 9780. Best that Vodafone can offer for Bold 9780 is £35 per month for 24 months, whereas O2 do it for £24. I want to check all my options before I commit to 24 months.0 -
As a loyal customer of 10 years (her words), i was offered the bog standard renewal price, and they refused even to match the £5 online discount for new customers, and wanted to charge me £50 for phone. Online its free!0

I was offered Curve 3g 18 month contract, 600mins, 300 texts, Blackberry internet bundle, £15 a month. Don't like the curve though, so I'm going to send it back and swap for something else.0

That sounds like a good deal tiny_courageous...I wish they would offer me that deal.0

Have you asked for your PAC code? I did and also conntacted the VF people on here. They couldn't give me a better deal so I kept looking round then out of the blue I call from retentions asking why I was leaving. He than gave me the phone I wanted, Desire S at no charge, and at a cost cheaper than anyone else. You have a month to use your PAC code. I had about a week left on mine. In all I was given three quotes by VF and none of them were what I wanted until the fourth one. I didn't really want 24 months but if that was the case then I was going to have an up to date phone! It may pay you to hang on aswell. Good Luck.0 -
I got (from retentions) Blackberry Bold 9780 300 mins, 5000 texts, 500 mg internet, BBM £20 pm for 18 months with £75 towards the handset
or the same deal as above for £20 pm for 24 months, same phone but no upfront payment
Today offered (in shop after haggling) Blackberry 8520, 200 mins, 500 texts, 250 mg internet, BBM £12.40 for 24 months0 -
It's that time again when the phone calls start coming to tie me into a contract before my current one ends, lol. Shall wait to see what offers they are doing at the moment. Any ideas on what phone to get for work - lots of texts, calls and am now looking at being able to email."Failure is always an option"
Sealed pot challenge #107 - still going strong0 -
Got a top deal today, respect to Vodafone retentions...
Web relations offered me the other day a Wildfire S, 12 months, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500mb data for £26 a month and £80 up front, so asked for my PAC code as could get a better deal from Talkmobile....
Retentions called me today (sorry fella forgot your name, but you were excellent) and he offered me....
Wildfire S - Free of charge, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 1gb of data, 100 pic msgs a month as well, all for just £25 a month...
Now you can't argue with that, especially as it is only a 12 month deal...
Very happy (not sure if you can tell :money: )
