I was doubtful I'd use all 500 minutes, so she also offered 250 mins & 100 texts with phone on 12 months for £12.50.

I wonder if it would be unrealistic for try and get that down to £10 a month as I do need the new phone as I'm using a really old one. Maybe I should take the 250 minute deal (and maybe try for STC) and stop being so greedy!

    Thanks for your help, moneysavingaddict07!
  • Also it depends when you make most of your calls after 7/weekend then I should definitely go for STC. Another thing you should do is, have a look on ebay and see how much you could get if you were to flog the same phone they are offering. Having read this thread since page 10, some MSEs are saying Vodephone charge for delivery.

Yes, she said it would be £4.95 for delivery. A bit cheeky when the Vodafone website advertises that delivery is free. Just not for upgrades!

I'm in two minds about the tariff as I'm about to have six months off work to have a baby so I don't know how much I'll use the phone in the next year, although it will be during the daytime so STC won't be valid for those calls. Maybe it is best to go for too much than too little.

Anyways the tocco launched on vodafone yesterday 13th june so i thought i would phone up and ask them what it would cost, i am on £20 pm and i get 75 mins and 150 texts which i think is rubbish and i always go over and spend 25-27 per month so i told the lady that i would be willing to upgrade to 25pm and she offered me 150 mins and 500 texts which would suit me fine she then wanted to charge me £100 for the phone and put me on a 24 month contract well i explained i had already looked online at vodafone upgrade store and that said it would cost £55 for handset on £25 pm on a 18 month contract, and also that o2 was doing 200 mins 200 texts and handset for 14.99 and i could get 75 mins and 200 texts on t mobile and 19.99 for handset for £20 pm she basically said i couldn't. Anyways i said i would pay £20 for handset and £25 pm but on a 18 month contract which i thought was very reasonable, she went away and came back with £30 for handset but on a 24 months contract, i said this was unacceptable as it was worse than what i got offered online with vodafone she didn't say anything so i said i would wait for my contract to end and join o2 she said ok is there anything else i can help you with.

I think this was shocking i know it wasn't retentions it was me phoning for an upgrade but now i will have to wait 15 days or so till im in my last 30 days then go down the route of cancelling my contract and waiting for retentions to phone me up. Would anybody else have accepted this deal or done or said anything different to what i said, thankyou for your time!

i think you did the right thing. just hang on for the two weeks, put in your end of contract letter, and then phone retentions. they should offer you a much better deal than upgrades.

cheers jen well i got an email today saying i could have it for 19.99 on an 18month contract so i aint complaining, i know i could have waited and gone through retentions but i got what i wanted so im happy.

    update 11/06/06
    so requested pac
call from retention and rejected offer and ask for pac
few days later missed a call from them
couple of days later they call back - 11/06/06

for the two contracts, they would hardly budge. the guy i spoke to put me on hold twice and the call ended up being 30 mins long. with half of it being on hold.

told him what i wanted in a nut shell, two free n95 8gb on the two numbers above and don't want to pay anything more on what i'm on now (look above £26.50 + £20 = £46.50 for the two).

    first number:
stick with my 200 mins + 250 txt from £26.50 to £25, STC, original rollover

    second number:
they wouldn't budge on tariff offer @ £20, so original 75 mins + 100 txt. didn't have rollover on this and said can this be added, he said yes. as my girlfriend uses this, she doesn't use it much, so is fine. more mins would have been nice, but with rollover, she could accrue time more.

final hold, was asking free delivery and bluetooth headset. he said none in stock and so will send out later.

he also said the above will be sent with confirmation on what we agreed and if not happy 14 days to cancel or change.
after hearing others not getting what retention offered, i will be checking this thoroughly.

would have liked cheaper tariff, and internet and more mins for sure on second number, but at least i have the phone i want for free (which at the present moment is one of the top range phones).

    comments and opinions welcomed?
once i get the phones, can i push for more mins on the £20 contract and if so who do i speak to?

2 phones arrived 13/06/08. but low and behold, i've been lied to already. i asked if the telephone conversation and what tariff plan we have agreed will be on paper and sent out with phone? answer = YES!

hmm now it's 18/06/08 and nothing. so going to ring up and spend god knows on 191 phone call and check what price plan i am and probably find out retention have fobbed me off, as reading the above, they don't update system.... grrr

he also said all offers were only valid for a period of 24 hours- whether this was rubbish I don't know but he did admit that outbound team had more sway to offer me a good deal - I had previously been offered a N95 8gb free plus 250 mins and 100 texts for £15 pm. I was holding out for unlimited internet but it looks like they would not budge on that.

that's a good deal. go for it. i pay £25!

they said the same on not being valid, but obviously wanted to close the deal. but i had enough ringing about etc. also the last guy in retention was quite rude i found and forcefull

If 191 fob you off with some lame excuse or are just unhelpful as they tend to be, I'd say pop over to the VF eForum (http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?act=idx) as I think I've suggested to you before, and they resolve problems much quicker than any other department of VF. They should be able to tell you quickly what you've upgraded to, and if retentions have lied to yet another customer, they'll resolve that for you too.

i'm quite fed up with Vodafone today... on 28/5 i renewed my contract and got 250min and 100txt, VP and stop the clock for £12.50 ..no new phone as they wouldn't bulge.. this was for 12mths contract. i wrote down all details and the name of the manager who has agreed to all this.. I was supposed to receive everything in writing... Yesterday as i still hadn't received anything i phone 191.. was on for 20min to be told that my contract was 18mths and the delay had passed to cancel as it was 14days.. originally i was told i had 30days to cancel...
Today again i have spent 25min in 191 to be told that sbdy will contact me..
Does anybody has a email address for complaint.. i have filled the form on the site but would like to write again...Not sure what to do..
    Thanks for any advice...:o

    try the voda eforum.
but this is a joke. so many threads i have read with retention not keeping their word of mouth and so in my eyes lying. as consumers we should start something to hit them with watchdog and get compensation for it.

as each 191 phone call takes an average of 30 mins to get someone to talk to, and only to find out they can't help and more hold music.
