barclaysguy wrote: »Hi Guys,
Im nearly at the end of my contract and im just looking at what people are getting. p1tse, sounds like your spitting your dummy a bit mate with the old get my whole family to change. The cheapest ive found a n95 8gb is 35pm 12 month contract, has anyone found cheaper (as a new subscriber, although 60 topcashback aswell). Im on 200min, 250 txt + stc 12 month, gonna push for a secret i think on 12 month.
Got to agree with you there, the n95 8gb seems to be on a pedestal or something at all the networks like they worship it, only offering it on the £35pm+ deals, which is the cheapest I can find it too atm. I don't see what's so good about it, well the features are good, but in terms of looks and feel, after having a play with it, it's way to cheap feeling to me.
Can I ask what your line rental on that deal is atm? If it's £20pm+ should be able to get the LG secret free if you push them for it, as just looking at my options to upgrade on the website they say I can get it for £150 and I'm on £20pm, so should be relatively easy to knock them down if you want it. If speaking to upgrades doesn't work, requesting your PAC code and getting the retentions team should be able to offer that, easily I reckon, could possibly even push for so many months half price line rental.0 -
I pay 25 per month on my deal. I must admit i have had a play with the n95 and it did feel cheap, but the pics of the n95 8gb make the phone look better.
I must admit though vodafone have been good to me and there is a very low chance of me leaving, my phone broke 2 weeks into the contract, the insurance wouldnt pay out, and they wouldnt fix it (water damage??? the ringtone didnt work - every other silly noise - fine) and the nice store manager replaced the handset on the hush.
Out of curiosity do any of you spend more than your contract? When i was young and single my bills were a bit higher and any phone was free and easy to get, for the pat 2 upgrades its been a bit harder, i spend about 2 pm over my contract each month - the odd pic txt etc.
Wonder if vode really care that much about keeping us cheapskates.0 -
main reason with voda is family, some older generation ones ;-) are still on original off peak mins! so if i went, they would look else where too, hence the quote before.
i wouldn't say cheapskate.as it's still revenue.
it's more expensive for an organisation to gain new customers than it is to retain.
from another thread, apparently 02 offering n95 8gb £25/month, but not seen it myself.
i've spent over my basic, as the basic on second phone which is my girlfriend's is rubbish.
also voda picture msg and wap browsing used to be free or part of my mins and txt bundle, but now charge.0 -
Well, after spending about 40 minutes on the phone and having talked to 3 different people in their Retentions and Dedicated teams the 'best' they could offer me was still:
500 mins & 100 txts for £12 per month.
I asked for a free phone and reduction to £10 rental but they said they could go no further as they had given me the maximum possible 60% reduction. They actually said that they normally give only 50% reduction in line rental so i was given special treatment to get 60% - i don't know if they were just saying this though!
They did throw in a free bluetooth headset though.
My plan is to wait until 10 months down the line and then renegotiate this contract for even lower rental and a phone upgrade.
Does anyone know what the lowest rental i could get them to agree to then?
Does anyone think i could've got an even better deal out of them? Or elsewhere? (my aim is to retain at least 400 mins & 100 txts for as low rental as possible! That's all i need as i'm not into fancy phones!)
Believe me, i did try!0 -
Hi,
I was going to leave Vodaphone and went through their customer retentions. The guy basically said fine and gave me the fax number to use. About a week later I got a call offering me £8 a month to keep my existing hand set. I turned it down and I got another call from vodaphone offering me £8 a month with new samsung G600 (one that had been returned because they sent the wrong phone, etc), 75 anytime, any network mins and 250 texts.
The phone came 2 days later, although it is described as nearly new, its still got its plastic covers on.Mortgage £120K, monthly overpayment £600, 18 years and £100K saved0 -
fizzylizzy wrote: »Inspired by this thread and having phoned 191 a few times and made comparisons of deals offered by O2 and T Mobile, I've just made my final call to Vodafone.
Have kept my deal of 200mins, 250 texts and stop the clock for £25/mth but they wanted me to pay £58 for an N95 8GB (I particularly wanted this phone!).
They said that this was the best they could do but when pushed agreed to throw in unlimited internet too. Always good to compare other networks and also keep persevering. This was my third call and the first one was useless.
I didn't really want to pay for the phone but will get some cash back by trading my other one online and also have £135 worth of internet thrown in free so I'm pleased. Can't wait til the phone comes tomorrow!0 -
thanks fizzylizzy, another case to show Voda retention don't upgrade your records!!!0

update: well just had a phone back.
i stuck to my guns, and they couldn't offer what i wanted so said no thanks, so pac code please. (was polite etc.)
i've got the above two contracts.
- want n95 8gb for both
- best they could do is free phone and stick to 200 mins + 250 txt @ £26.50. which i wasn't happy with, as wanted to pay £20, like some of you. or at least sub £25.
- didn't even get a chance to talk about my second number, as they couldn't offer on first number.
best they could do for free n95 phone and £20 was 100 mins and 50 txt.
so i said no, what are the chances they will ring back?
what shall i do from here?
if anyone has a n95gb free and decent mins and txt (& internet) deal, if you don't mind, can you PM your number so i can quote x is getting this, why can't I?
update 11/06/06
so requested pac
call from retention and rejected offer and ask for pac
few days later missed a call from them
couple of days later they call back - 11/06/06
for the two contracts, they would hardly budge. the guy i spoke to put me on hold twice and the call ended up being 30 mins long. with half of it being on hold.
told him what i wanted in a nut shell, two free n95 8gb on the two numbers above and don't want to pay anything more on what i'm on now (look above £26.50 + £20 = £46.50 for the two).
first number:
stick with my 200 mins + 250 txt from £26.50 to £25, STC, original rollover
second number:
they wouldn't budge on tariff offer @ £20, so original 75 mins + 100 txt. didn't have rollover on this and said can this be added, he said yes. as my girlfriend uses this, she doesn't use it much, so is fine. more mins would have been nice, but with rollover, she could accrue time more.
final hold, was asking free delivery and bluetooth headset. he said none in stock and so will send out later.
he also said the above will be sent with confirmation on what we agreed and if not happy 14 days to cancel or change.
after hearing others not getting what retention offered, i will be checking this thoroughly.
would have liked cheaper tariff, and internet and more mins for sure on second number, but at least i have the phone i want for free (which at the present moment is one of the top range phones).
comments and opinions welcomed?
once i get the phones, can i push for more mins on the £20 contract and if so who do i speak to?0 -
I'm on Voda, and currently paying them £60/month (£30 phone, £30 mobile broadband).
I asked them if they could match this offer from 3:
3 are offering new customers the following (Mix & Match 1100, £20):
-New phone (eg Nokia 6500)
-1100 minutes or texts to split
-300 minutes 3-to-3 (equivalent to STC?)
- Half price mobile broadband (3GB at £7.50)
They said they couldn't match this because "there's only a certain amount we can spend on you, which includes discounts and phone". Wouldn't elaborate.
I asked for my PAC (yesterday). They phoned back today and said "what can we do to keep you?". I said match this offer from 3, they said they couldn't and that I should just go to 3!
How odd. Did I do something wrong?0 -
Just got off the phone with vodafone this evening and the bloke at the other end confirmed what others had said in that the retentions deals are NOT for the full 18 months (or 12 if that was what you were after). They are only for 15 months.
why? Because you can upgrade up to 70 days before the end of your contract and so this if why it only applies for 15 months.
he also said all offers were only valid for a period of 24 hours- whether this was rubbish I don't know but he did admit that outbound team had more sway to offer me a good deal - I had previously been offered a N95 8gb free plus 250 mins and 100 texts for £15 pm. I was holding out for unlimited internet but it looks like they would not budge on that.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0
