just rang 191
waited 20 mins!
spoke to a lady. said i wanted the n95 black. she said battery life isn't good. then she said she couldn't do a deal as it's a premium phone. funny how premium phone has crap battery.
she then transferred me to retention. waited another 5-10 mins!
spoke to some dude, and he said £150 for phone.
thanks but no thanks, so PAC code 3-5 working days.
so hope for a outbound call.
want to upgrade to accounts:
1) 200 mins + 250 txt @ £26.50
2) 75 mins + 100 txt @ £20
i want both to have n95 black and not pay more than £20 each on at least 200 mins + 100 txt.
wish me luck
update: well just had a phone back.
i stuck to my guns, and they couldn't offer what i wanted so said no thanks, so pac code please. (was polite etc.)
i've got the above two contracts.
- want n95 8gb for both
- best they could do is free phone and stick to 200 mins + 250 txt @ £26.50. which i wasn't happy with, as wanted to pay £20, like some of you. or at least sub £25.
- didn't even get a chance to talk about my second number, as they couldn't offer on first number.
best they could do for free n95 phone and £20 was 100 mins and 50 txt.
so i said no, what are the chances they will ring back?
what shall i do from here?
if anyone has a n95gb free and decent mins and txt (& internet) deal, if you don't mind, can you PM your number so i can quote x is getting this, why can't I?0 -
For anyone negotiating a deal with the Vodafone outbound retention department, once you have decided on a phone/package ask for free delivery of the handset, otherwise you will be charged £4.99 and usually there is no mention of this delivery charge at the time.
Also for anyone getting a months free internet or 3 months free insurance, please note that you have to ring up to cancel these ‘freebies’ (if you do not require them beyond the free period) otherwise you will be billed on a recurring basis once your trial is up. With the free internet you can do this the day before the free trial ends. With the insurance it’s best to do it a few days before the 3 months are up as then they will be able to do it on the spot. Whereas if you call them exactly after 3 months (or beyond), then you will have to give 30 days notice to cancel and thus be charged for that period.
Just for peace of mind it’s a good idea to call 191 once your upgrade arrives and check with them to see that you are on the tariff/rates/contract duration etc that were quoted to you at the time of speaking to the outbound retention department operator.0 -
i'll rememeber that if i stay with them.
but i've not had a second call back, after saying no to the first outbound call.
all i want are realistic deals that some have said they have managed to get and not even the low prices i'm going for.
got two numbers with voda.
all i want is n95 8gb for the both free, and £20/month with 200 mins and 100 txt. is that too much to ask for?0 -
Just had a call and been offered the following:
75 anytime Minutes
100 texts
Sony K770i
12 month contract
£12 per month
Does this sound ok or could I knock them down to a tenner a month?0 -
Care. Some of the deals being offered by retentions dept are not then followed through.
I was offered free internet & line rental £15pm but later found out that free internet was for just 1 mth then £5pm extra and line rental discount was £10pm over 15 mths of a £25pm 19 mth contract.
In addition when I didnt receive the phones we were promised-2 samsung soul & Nokia N95-Vodafone claimed they were then not able to agree this deal as it was not profitable even though it had already been agreed! The notes on the account didnt back up my say.
Each time we phoned Voda tried to get out of the deal and renegotiate.
At this point I have received the N95 but still waiting for the samsung soul which apparently is out of stock but will be sent when back in.
I have also cancelled the internet.
It seems the retention dept will do anything and not tell you everything to retain a customer and get paid commission.
So make sure you check exactly what deal you have signed up to.0 -
philng, what deal did you get on the n95 8gb in the end?
but thanks for the tip, having read hear retention team aren't very honest or clear. they better becarefull before consumer power hits onto watchdog and the likes.
after turning down retention deal, i've not had a second call back.0 -
I was given the N95 on 250 mins 100 texts £25pm discounted by £10pm for 15 mths with 19 mth contract but they claimed I should not have been given this deal and then tried to stop me gettin the samsung soul on my other number (same account) which my daighter uses.0

thanks philng. i was given the option to stick with my current: 200 mins + 250 txt @ £26.50 for 18 months
or £20 for 100 mins and 50 or 100 txt i think.
so how do these others get it for £20 with more mins and txt etc!?!?!0 -
Hi all,
I am on the 500 mins & 250 txts tariff on £17.50 p/m line rental and I have a Samsung D900 (my line rental was halved by Voda after phoneboxdirect went bust!).
My contract ends in a couple of weeks and after a few conversations with different people in the Retentions team at Voda, the 'best' i have been offered is:
500 mins & 100 txts for £12.00 line rental (12 month contract) BUT with no free phone or upgrade.
Is it too cheeky/unrealistic of me to ask for a free phone too?
TBH i only want a basic new phone, like a Nokia 6300...i don't want or need anything of greater spec.
And would it be even more unrealistic to ask for even cheaper line rental, like say £10 p/m PLUS a Nokia 6300?
Any views (especially of people who work or know about Voda) would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.0 -
you should be able to get the 6300, as it's an older phone. but it's the n95 8gb i want, which either pay for the phone (how about know), or average rate tariff.0
