My current contract is as follow:

£35 pcm (18-month contract ending in March 2009)
    Nokia N95
    750 minutes + Stop The Clock + 500 texts

I've been with Voda for over six-seven months now. Am I paying getting good value out of this £35 a month?
  • This is my retention deal with Vodaphone.

I need a new phone as my existing one is defective. I am not a heavy user of calls or texts.

I asked for a Sumsung Soul on a 12 month contract for no more than £17.50 per month (which I'm currently paying following Vodaphone halving my £35 pm payment after the Simply 3g collapse).

They have offered me a free Samsung Soul phone on a 12 month contract for £20 pm - 100 cross network mins and 50 texts.

I'm happy with that - my records with Vodaphone show I barely used that amount each month in calls or texts, even with my OH using it as well.

The Soul is out of stock at the moment but they are hoping to get some in tomorrow.

I know I could probably get more texts/minutes elsewhere but most of the Souls appear to be on 18 month contracts which I dont want - or they appear to be more monthly expensive.

What a shame Vodaphone decided to try and impose a completely different contract on me costing twice the above and the texts/mins did not even resemble what I had negotiated with them.

I only found this out (fortunately within the 14 day cooling off period) when the phone developed a fault and I had reason to contact them about it.

Even despite having THREE times asked for a transcript of my original call to them regarding the above deal they have refused to comply - and even had the cheek to tell me I had been dealt with by Phones4U!

So people - if you have recently negotiated a new contract with Vodaphone I strongly suggest you check - within 14 days - you actually have got what you agreed.

They do not send out any paperwork for over a week.

Meanwhile - they now have the faulty phone back and have been told where their illegal contract can go too.

Voda is the best as far I see it having used t-mobile & orange.
They give the best phones and the coverage is far superior that anyone else. Please dont take Three or t-mobile unless you know where you are going to be living with that crappy service or keep the phone resting on the table 24hrs a day !!!

Of course service quality does come with an added price on the tag, and customer service is pretty bad with tmobile and orange as well. ... my 2 cents on Vodafone.

The contract I've come off was originally a 12 month contract at £35 a month (a cashback deal), 500 mins a month I think.

It did get reduced to £17.50 a month not long after signing up as a goodwill gesture from vodafone after the cashback company went bust.

Also....it is an 18 month contract I've agreed to so it will actually cost me £270 for the full term.

But i see that the N95 8GB is selling for about this price on Ebay at the minute so not a bad deal at all I think....especially with the hands free etc

Moose, Phillng (see post 281) or anyone else that got the N95 8gb plus unlimited internet for £15, would you mind pm'ing your account or mobile number as they claim it can't be done and i want to prove them wrong.

Just spent 20 mins on the phone to vodafone retentions after they called me about a new handset. They (after the usual checking with a manger) came back and releuctantly agreed to give me N95 8gb plus 250 mins +100 texts for £15 on an 18 month, but would not chuck in the uinlimited internet.

best they could do was £5 pm. (I was paying £40 per month for 500 mins and 500 texts). Didn't even get a chance to ask them re the bluetooth and hands free!

The lady I spoke to said the best deal they can do is half price therefore it was impossible to get all of the above including the interent for £15 p.m

Also has anyone managed to get this on a 12 month contract as opposed to 18 months and if so what was the best deal you got.

De Boy Gupta-I got the £15pm as follows:

We have 3 x contracts with Voda at £15pm on 100 mins and 50 texts & Vodafone At home broadband package.

I wrote in with my 30 day notice and then received numerous retention calls.

I was asked which phones we wanted and I said 2 x Samsung Soul and 1 x Nokia N95 for me.

I have taken up 150 mins & 500 texts on 1 and 250 mins and 100 texts on the other 2. I believe this is a £25pm contract (which includes free internet) discounted by £10pm. So I am paying £15pm.

I have subsequently found out that the discount is only for 15 of the 18 months which was not explained. I am therefore going to write further requesting an option to leave/upgrade at month 15 without penalty as when I called VODA they say they can't extend the discount to the full 18 mths.

I have been sent 3 x Bluetooth headsets for the inconvenience but this does not cover the 3 extra mths at an extra £10pm per contract i.e £90.

But I have got the phone I want with the free internet.

It may have helped that my daughter went £20 over her allowance in April (1st time ever) I dont know.

thanks for your mail- i thought the £30 tarriff for the 250 mins 100 texts included the automatic unlimited internet for free? but the lady in retentions told me that even if you pay £80 for a tarriff then the internet is £5 package on top.

Would you mind providing any account details or one mobile number- with no other info via p'm (purely for the purpose of proving that they can offer the N95 + internet +250 mins and 100 texts for £15 per month).

I can't beleive that they were not willing to do so- especially considering the £40 tarriff I was on (which was a cashback deal!)

then again I am worried with several posts saying the offer is not for the full period of 18 monhts- did you not get it in writing in the first 14 days.

  • New on here ...so hi everyone...just a quick one called vodafone yesterday to try and get a upgrade for the 2 phones we have..
you are now able to upgrade 60 days before your contract ends..great i thought, but hold on if you do you are now placed on a 20 month contract..not 18 they add the other 2 months on to the contract length...very clever...so there were told see you ii am off in 60 days to somewhere else...so beware when you upgrade your phone

Well after reading the vodafone onthly guide I picked up from a shop I was thoroughly confused about whether the price plans included the unlimited internet or not so I phoned up customer services and asked. They confirm that the cost for a 250 mins 100 text tariff is £25 without the internet or £30 with the internet; hence if retentions cliam that they can only do half price - which is what they claimed to me- then point out that the £15 whcih is half of £30 is the tarriff that includes the internet!

hope that helps--- Just out of interest those of you who only wanted 12 month deals- what is the best deal you have obtained?

O2 have a similar deal, though it does seem much better, a free Nokia N95 , 500 cross network mins 500 texts and a choice of free bolt ons, ie free internet web browsing as well as a free nokia maps enabling your phone to be a sat nav, for £30, might have to jump ship as having no luck with vodaphone:cool:

I have just finished negotiating my retention deal and managed to get 200 x-net mins 250 texts, stop the clock and Vodafone Passport and a new 5mp Samsung G600 for £12.50 per month inclusive of vat, I think this not too bad a deal?

    Cheers
