at present im only on a 15pm contract as last year I renewed contract without taking a new phone - reduced monthly costs by 10pm. Just tried to upgrade to a new phone online and been told by online advisor can only have a new phone if I increase my contract by 10pm as they no longer offer an upgrade phone only - changed this month apparently ??!! My husband recently changed to vodafone and they offered him a better deal as I was with them - looks like he got my benefit !! Annoying thing is my phone is knackered now and I need a new one. I live in a remote area and the only phone service that works here is vodafone. Was happy to increase to 20pm on an HTC phone but told cannot help! suggestions ?

Your best bet would be to move house lol..cos on a serious note I don't think Vodafone are interested in retaining customers anymore. After being with them for 10 years and showing loyalty even though they made some major mess ups all i got was a 1st upgrade offer which was more than what new customers would get, When i obviously refused i was simply told your pac code will be with you within 7 days. After 10 yrs and £1000's spent you'd think I'd be shown a little more respect.
The next day i was called by retentions, in a nutshell i told them the deal i want. Htc HD Desire 18 mnth cntrct, 600 mins, unlmtd txts at £25 p/mnth. Told £30 p/month is best he could do, i said I'm unhappy with that as others have recieved that £25 deal. He simply said check your fone I've sent you your PAC, have you got it? I checked and there it was. I said yeah..He replied well you're free to leave us with immediate effect, if you find a deal with another operator you can go today, thanks bye.
Not even a "we'd hate to see you leave us..etc etc"

After all the loyalty I've shown Vodafone, their appreciation is zero. I'm moving to a network where loyalty is appreciated.

I feel sick every extra day I'm with them now, I'd rather they not have any more of my money. Just mulling over a few offers, hopefully within a few days I'll be with a better operator!
  • Called Vod just now asking what they could offer...spoke to upgrades team knowing fully well whats hot and whats not!

Coming to the end of my 18 months £35 per month contract (first ten months were half price), 600mins, unlimited text, unlimited internet...

Best upgrade team could offer was...

Trade my Nokia 5800 in ...24 month contract at £35 per month with first 9 months halfprice with same plan as im currently on...PLUS £40 for handset!

Gave them an example of what online deals I was looking at on HUKD and he was like unfortunately we cannot get anywhere near this and asked to request my PAC code and that the retention team would be calling me soon.

I can only dream to be offered the £20 a month, 600mins, unlimited texts & internet deal over 24 months on the HTC DESIRE HD!

I'd probably accept £25 p/m over 24 months assuming the handsets free.

  • They've made u a stupid offer so you take the one retentions offer you..You'd want the 600 mins £20 p/month offer but because they gave you such a bad 1st offer they're tricking you into accepting less of a deal. So now you'll go to being prepared to accept £25 p/m.

Considering some orange customers have got their htc upgrade deals for £20 for an 18 month contract i cant see why voda cant do it for you for £20 for 24 month contract?! You're not even askin for the same deal or better deal, in fact a deal more expensive than what orange customers get.

I have contacted the we relations team via email and through the eforum on vodafone's website.

looking into things a fair few people have claimed to have recieved the Desire HD for the same deal I was offered. I think it's only fair to receive the same.

we will see what we will see.

I can now see why there are these Samsung Galaxy S offers being made to keep customers - there's a new Samsung Galazy S 2 relased on March 4th!

Is there a likeliness of being made a good retention offer on a newly released phone?
  • Im due for a Vodafone upgrade soon too interesting to see what everyone is getting. I think I will go for the Motorola Defy looks a good phone. Im on 600 crossnet minutes unlimited texts and 500mb internet for £25.54 is that the going rate now or should I be asking for money off that ??. I dont normally go over 300 minutes so maybe I can get that reduced to save money. The DEFY is coming up as free now online early upgrade but I have to wait 3 weeks before the full upgrade options are available.
  • I have just purchased a sim only deal from vodafone and now want to get one for my husband as a present. If it is another new number can I get the same deal. What is a new customer a person or a contract does anyone know?

My wife called Vodafone yesterday asking what options were available to her now it's upgrade time. She has seen a deal with T Mobile for a Motorola Defy 300 mins, 300 texts, 500mb data, could they match £15.12 a month? "Sales Advisor!" totally uninterested in offering any decent deals. Basically told to take it or leave it. Needless to say Vodafone have just lost another customer, and come July i'll be off too. I think Vodafones approach to retaining business, is baffling to say the least.
