Vodafone Retention Deals

Hey All,
Just to provide a guideline really:
Old Contract:
Free HTC Magic
600 Mins
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Web (500mb FU)
18 Month Contract
£17.50/Month for 15 months then £35 for the last 3 months
New Offer (From outbound retentions today after I rejected their stupid deal when I called to cancel on Monday):
Free HTC Desire HD
600 Mins
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Web (500mb FU)
24 Month Contract
£20/Month
I have rejected this offer for two reasons:
1) It is the first offer and I tend to think that common sense negotitation techniques advise the first offer to be the highest of all offers available
2) I really do not want to commit to a 2 year contract. In fact I do not really want an 18 month contract. I was going to go Sim Free with my HTC Magic but it does appear to be breaking now both physically an...erm software-erly? I'm sure you know what I mean.
So out of interest what do you guys think of the offer? Would you take it? What do you think the chances are of me getting a better deal either with Vodafone calling me back or elsewhere?
Cheers

Well that's £480 over the contract term and given that the sim free cost of the handset is around the £400 mark, your call, text and data allowance for two years will run to less than £4 a month. Seems like a decent deal to me and as I'm now in my final 30 days if I get an offer like that I'll be taking it.0

so I got the call from retentions, they offered me a 12 month SIM only deal - 300 mins, unlimited text and 500MB data for £10 p/m and a bluetooth headset for £9.99 for good measure. That'll do for me."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

sound like not that bad a deal i currently pay £40 for the same mins/txt/data with a iphone 3gs in an 18 month contract
The only thing is that there are a whole host of new phones coming out really soon, one of which is the upgraded Samsung Galaxy S 2. I'm getting an iPad 2 through work soon, so the latest best phone doesn't bother me so much, but it surely means standard Galaxy S tariffs will start to plummet soon...0 -

Not sure you'll get a better deal than that...
wish i was offered this i had £35 a month on the same price plan with first 8 months 1/2 price.!
this was 2 weeks ago, told i would be called within 3 days....didnt recieve this call!!!! ridiculous.
so, called them again today, they provided me my pac and the guy on the phone was not enthusiastic at all and didnt discuss other offers. my contract expires on the 24th march, do you think the retention team will still call me even though i have been provided with my pac code?
i have a feeling they have noted me in their file as had alot of problems with them...oh well...fones4u have a £25 p/m deal on the hd desire, looks like i am going to have to venture down this path.Target- clear £1000 student overdraft by Jan 11

I requested my PAC this afternoon and had a chat with a very pleasant young woman who was only able to make me a fairly uninspiring offer on the desire HD, 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb for £25 a month for two years with an upfront cost of £120 for the phone. Much better to be had elswhere but I've got till the end of the month so I'll see if they try and improve on that....they'll need to!0

I have found the deals offered to me over the last few days by Vodafone to be rubbish. I have 2 phones on contract with them. I've had my phone with them for some years. The current contracts I have with them are approx £40.00 and £20.00 pm. Their first offer to me was the Samsung Galaxy 551 with 300 mins, unlimited text and 500md data for £22.00 per month and the HTC Desire (not HD or Z) 900 mins, unlimited text and 500mb data for £30.00 on 24 months contract. I said no and requested my pac codes (they didn't arrive when they said they would, but after ringing I was given them over the phone).
My daughter decided she wants the HTC Desire Z and will need 900 mins per month. I liked the look of the phone, and decided it would be nice to have a change from the bog standard Nokia. I tried ringing them again. They offered me 2xHTC Desire Z at a cost of £70.00 for both 900 mins, unlim text, 500mb for £30.00 on 24 month contract each. I can get the same phone on the same Vodafone tariff through Tesco Mobile with the phone free + £25.00 gift card and 1000 clubcard points. Rang Vodafone and was offered the phone for free on the same tariff with free insurance for 6 months. Well, imagine my delight! (that was a joke)
This indifference has made me consider leaving Vodafone. Carphone Warehouse offered me an Orange 24 month contract for the Desire Z - 900 mins, unlim text and 750mb data for £32.50 per month. Their Magic Numbers make this tempting, but I've heard that the reception is not good in my area.
Hmmmm, what to do. One things for certain, I won't be making any more calls to Vodafone!0 -
Friend of mine is looking to upgrade with Vodaphone for a SIM only contract. She only wants to spend between £10-£15, what offers could she realistically push for?0
-
Depends how lucky she is I suppose.
Last year I got the £15 SIM only deal (300 mins, unlimited texts, 500Mb data) half price for 11 of the 12 months.0
