  • I have just been offered the Desire (not the HD) with 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb of internet for £25 per month so I've taken this deal. Spoke to the upgrade dept who were very helpful.

Hope I've done the right thing!

Meant to add that they are charging a fiver for next day delivery of the hanset - not too happy about that part!!
  • I was on £15 a month sim only tariff & due for upgrade this month and am after a HTC phone.

Upgrade dept - the best they could do for me was £25 for the handset HTC Wildfire, and £20 a month/ 24 mths contract for 300 min & 300 text plus internet. And they said they couldn't lower the tariff anymore tahn that.

Few days later I requested PAC code, and they offered me HTC 7 Trophy for free, £17.50 a mth with 600 min, unlimited txts & (500mb) internet, also car charger & Free delivery. (They intitally matched my find on T-mobile's offering with £15 a month for 300 min, unlimited text/ internet). I know I go over 300 mins every so often so rather pay £2.50 more a month for 600 mins.

So I guess I did alright getting this deal. :)

Update on desire delivery-BE AWARE of DPD!!!been waiting yesterday all day for DPD they did not turned up!!!happened to me at last upgrade too...phoned vodafone who contacted dpd and what did dpd say???it was returned to depot because i hadn't answered the door...well if true, why no calling card was not left, i am asking???{happned to me before}. so there is a pattern in dpd's behaviour. please don't take them seriously and if you will you ll end up in nutshouse:)
PS been offered 10 quidd good will gesture by vodafone for all the hassle

same issue here, got given a 1 hour time slot (1617-1717) so made sure someone was in. In fact there were 3 of us in during this period. 1620 heard the letterbox and rushed into the hallway to find, yes you've guessed it, a missed delivery card from DPD. Luckily the driver was still on his way to his van and surprisingly with no package in his hand. Asked if he'd bothered to ring the bell and told he'd both knocked and rung the doorbell. So amazingly I missed his attempt but managed to hear the fainter noise of the letterbox flap. Complete Muppets.

The "Deal" I managed to get was

    Free Desire HD
    300mins
    Unlimited texts
    500Mb data
    18 Month contract

    £25 per month

    PS

(I confirmed 500mb data at the time of agreeing the deal although the confirmation email shows 250mb, just called them and they still maintain it is 500mb but just to be sure have given me a free addon for another 500mb, so it is now either 750mb or 1gig)
  • Hi everyone, I was well chuffed with the upgrade I got this afternoon with Vodafone.

I am on a £20 a month 12 month sim only contract with 900 minutes, unlimited texts and 500mb of mobile internet. This is the original deal which had when I joined back in December 2009 via Quidco which got me £100 cashback too.

Rang Vodafone upgrades today to ask what they could offer and was told I was already on the best deal they could do and they couldn't offer me any free handsets unless I chose a higher priced tariff. I declined as I never go over my minutes, texts or internet so theirs no need. I thanked the young lady for looking anyway then before I hung up she advised me that as I joined Vodafone online I should try logging into my Vodafone Online Account, go to the upgrades section and see what I get offered there. So I did.

What a difference online. I chose the following deal:-

    24 months at £20 a month
900 any time any network minutes
    Unlimited texts
    500mb Mobile Internet
    HTC Desire Z for £21.11.

I was well chuffed and think I got a pretty decent deal especially as
my monthly bill is always £20 and I never ever go over it. I thought you had to spend loads each month to get a decent upgrade deal but online I guess not. Not bad for the sim only contract I started out on 50 weeks ago.

I'm glad you got a good deal but I am surprised as I have never found a good upgrade deal online. Last time I upgraded I had to practically beg them to give me the same deal as they were offering to 'brand new customers only'!

Another thing that annoys me is that if you upgrade online you don't pay delivery charges but if you upgrade on the phone you do!

When was your contact due to expire?

    600 minutes
    Unlimited texts
    Unlimited internet (500mb FUP)
    24 months

Just been offered this, anyone know if i could flog the phone on ebay, buy an iphone 4 and everything work ok?
  • Hi, my contract was due to expire in the next 2 weeks. Online in the upgrades section I had 3 options:-

    1. Upgrade and select a new priceplan and phone
    2. Keep my existing priceplan and pick a phone (had a choice of 12 and the best 2 phones were the HTC Desire Z & the Blackberry Torch)
    3. Choose a new priceplan only.

I chose option 2 and the 2 dearest were the desire Z and Blackberry Torch. Cheapest way to get the phones was to select 24 month contract instead of 18 or 12.

Where I live the only decent receptions are on Vodafone & Orange. I looked at the Orange website but found nothing came anywhere near to what I picked. Plus Vodafone supplied mobiles come with a Vodafone 12 month warranty and the manufacturers bog standard 2 yr one. Orange supplied phones only have an Orange 6 month warranty then they want you to pay for insurance on top.

I bet in 2 years time I won't have anywhere near the luck come upgrade time. Need to make the most of it so off to buy a lotto ticket.

We need a new phone AND priceplan (it's my son's phone but the contract is in my name). He currently gets 100 mins and 500 texts for 25 quid, which is rubbish. He needs more minutes and a decent amount of internet usage, plus a decent phone. HTC Desire HD is top of the wishlist at the moment but he doesn't want to spend more than 25 quid and the online upgrade is not offering that presently.

I'll see what happens when I ring for the PAC next week.

  • Hi noelphobic jeez your price plan is well expensive. I've tried the new HTC Desire HD and to be honest its ok but in my opinion it's not worth the current £35 a month plus monthly price which Vodafone want for it. Because its a new phone and its expensive too they kinda want to attach it to the dearer price plans to attract customers.

I've just had a quick look and the current contracts with phones on Vodafone aren't that great. They've got one for £25 a month 2 year contract which is the Motorola Defy which is a waterproof, dust proof and drop proof Android mobile phone which has internet on it with only 300 minutes and 500mb internet. Can't remember how many texts it had. Even this would be an improvement on your current deal. Go through Quidco and with this deal you'd get £90 cashback.

This is just an alternative suggestion, I hope you don't mind. If your son doesn't mind having a new number try the following. Join http://www.quidco.com/vodafone/?ac and going through here once you sign up you can get scroll down to the offers bit and select the Vodafone sim only 12 month contract for £25 a month which has 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500mb of internet. Yes you don't get a phone with this one but you do get £150 cashback. The cashback will take a couple of months to be paid. Before trying quidco you have to shut down your internet browser and clear the cookies, cache and history. Then go right to quidco, join if your not a member and go through them to get the deal.

Using the £150 buy a mobile you can use the internet on. Vodafone currently do the HTC Wildfire on Pay as you go for £160 as do the likes of play.com etc which could be used with your Vodafone Sim only. Or buy a different phone.

Overall if you did any of the options above I think it works out pretty amazing compared to your current deal. In my opinion the sim free with cashback offer wins hands down. You'd (your son) have 12 times the minutes you currently get, unlimited texts and 500mb of internet. Put the £150 towards a new phone so if you got the Wildfire you'd be (or your son) £10 out of pocket but plan wise it's much better. Or put the £150 towards anything you like. Its a case of weighing up how much your son wants to have to pay for that HTC Desire HD. Maybe you may get somewhere when you request your PAC Code but if not then at least here's some other possibilities for you both.

As with all technology in next to no time it's outdated by newer and better technology. I've been doing these cashback offers for years with different networks and so have the rest of my family, it's pretty good how much you can save using these Quidco deals.

The cashback deal I mentioned runs out 2nd December 2010 but Quidco usually have various cashback deals with all of the main UK Networks all year round but with varying cashback amounts.

    Good Luck. :money:
