    Retentions rang after requesting PAC
    Took :-
HTC WildFire on 18months for £17.50
    600m/unlimited texts as before
    Discounted to end of contract
    No delivery charge

Did they throw any internet in with that?
  • HTC Desire Z was out of stock for a few days but turned up yesterday. What a cracking phone it is, well worth the £21.11 upgrade price.

Brucie bonus was the fact that its not locked to the Vodafone network. When its powered on once the HTC screen disappears the Vodafone symbol appears for about 4 seconds and thats it. I tried an Orange sim card in it and it worked fine. Plus it actually runs flash 10.1 so that means all internet pages with flash content should work on it.

Now just have to decide what apps to install from Android Marketplace, decisions decisions.

Just heard someone on another tech forum got offered £10 per month for 12 months - 600 mins, 3000 texts and 500mb data and someone else got BT wifi as well (not sure how well that works when out and about in London?).
I was told by retentions to check my upgrade so I did. One of the so called upgrades is my current 30 day plan on a 12 month plan...er 'up'grade?!
I would like to get £15 pm, 12 months, 600 mins, 3000 texts, 500mb data and my 100 international texts.

2 questions: is 500mb data enough if I change phone to an android handset or even possibly iPhone 4? I have no interest in signing 24 month contracts with anyone but don't want PAYG. The signal in our area is variable - T Mobile and Orange are hopeless, O2 is ok, Voda is reasonable, haven't tried 3.
last q: why is it that Vodafone retentions offer better deals to some people than others. I have been with them, paying £20 pm for over 2 years!

£20/25 per month for 4.5 years here, but last time I upgraded I had to practically beg them to let me have the same deal (nothing special) that they were offering to 'brand new customers only'!

I requested my PAC online on 3rd December and got an email saying it would be sent by text within 24 hours but still waiting. They have phoned the mobile a couple of times but as it is my 22 year old son's phone and the cord was cut many years ago I have never been around to take the call. The online upgrade offers are rubbish so unless thay can give us HTC HD Desire with 600 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited internet for £25 a month then I will be off to pastures new as I know a company that can!

I would be off to a phone dealer that can do that deal instead of getting a phone from the carriers. The main reason is that the HTC handsets are unlocked and get all the software updates as HTC release them, not 6 months later when Vod/Ora/O2 etc want to give you it loaded with their bloatware.

500mb but rang back and got 1000mb
  • Hi Just noticed online that I can upgrade on my current contract which is 600mins / unltd texts / 500mb a month at £9.99 sim only which I got last January but the tariff has just gone back up to £20pm as it was reduced. Should I just request my PAC code as nothing suits with the online offers and I want a new phone but with the same talk/text/web as I have.
What is the best thing as I am looking for a Nokia N8 or HTC DHD and am not going to keep paying £20pm for sim only.

Didn't even bother speaking to Vodafone in the end. Got HTC Desire HD 600mins, 500 texts, unlimited internet (1GB cap?) 24 month contract. £25 per month with TMobile through Phones4u. Ordered Thursday night, arrived by Special Delivery this morning. Already have PAC so just need to port number in a couple off days. Will hopefuly also get £35 Topcashback, but good deal even if that doesn't come through.

I am off the hook after 4.5 years paying for son's contract as presents for various occasions, so am £30+ per month better off as son now has contract in own name- I know Christmas is coming but times are hard!
