Vodafone Retention Deals

welshman1982 wrote: »Hi noelphobic jeez your price plan is well expensive. I've tried the new HTC Desire HD and to be honest its ok but in my opinion it's not worth the current £35 a month plus monthly price which Vodafone want for it. Because its a new phone and its expensive too they kinda want to attach it to the dearer price plans to attract customers.
I've just had a quick look and the current contracts with phones on Vodafone aren't that great. They've got one for £25 a month 2 year contract which is the Motorola Defy which is a waterproof, dust proof and drop proof Android mobile phone which has internet on it with only 300 minutes and 500mb internet. Can't remember how many texts it had. Even this would be an improvement on your current deal. Go through Quidco and with this deal you'd get £90 cashback.
This is just an alternative suggestion, I hope you don't mind. If your son doesn't mind having a new number try the following. Join http://www.quidco.com/vodafone/?ac and going through here once you sign up you can get scroll down to the offers bit and select the Vodafone sim only 12 month contract for £25 a month which has 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, and 500mb of internet. Yes you don't get a phone with this one but you do get £150 cashback. The cashback will take a couple of months to be paid. Before trying quidco you have to shut down your internet browser and clear the cookies, cache and history. Then go right to quidco, join if your not a member and go through them to get the deal.
Using the £150 buy a mobile you can use the internet on. Vodafone currently do the HTC Wildfire on Pay as you go for £160 as do the likes of play.com etc which could be used with your Vodafone Sim only. Or buy a different phone.
Overall if you did any of the options above I think it works out pretty amazing compared to your current deal. In my opinion the sim free with cashback offer wins hands down. You'd (your son) have 12 times the minutes you currently get, unlimited texts and 500mb of internet. Put the £150 towards a new phone so if you got the Wildfire you'd be (or your son) £10 out of pocket but plan wise it's much better. Or put the £150 towards anything you like. Its a case of weighing up how much your son wants to have to pay for that HTC Desire HD. Maybe you may get somewhere when you request your PAC Code but if not then at least here's some other possibilities for you both.
As with all technology in next to no time it's outdated by newer and better technology. I've been doing these cashback offers for years with different networks and so have the rest of my family, it's pretty good how much you can save using these Quidco deals.
The cashback deal I mentioned runs out 2nd December 2010 but Quidco usually have various cashback deals with all of the main UK Networks all year round but with varying cashback amounts.
Good Luck. :money:
I've suggested the Motorola Defy to him but he said he doesn't like Motorolas so that's that! He does want to keep his current number so if we don't get a decent deal from Vodafone we will be going elsewhere - which means that he can have his own name on the contract!
I've seen the HTC Desire HD for 25 a month at places such as Phones4U and Dialaphone but the offers keep changing. I think if we do change there will be an overlap between the two contracts because December/early January is not the best time to change your phone. I'm not too worried about that though as he will be paying for the new contract himself.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Two upgrades due for me and my son. We got the following via retentions after requesting PAC codes online:-
12 month contracts
600 x-network minutes
Unlimited Vodafone to Vodafone calls (need this as all family on Vodafone)
Unlimited texts
Vodafone passport
For the pricely sum of £12.50 per month, with a Samsung Solid Extreme Phone (son works in a chippy and this phone looks and feels indestructible, oh and woo hoo has a torch too :rotfl:) and a Viewty Smile Phone. None of us use the internet so didn't need a fancy phone, although could have had the Wild Fire with a bolt on of £5 per month for the internet.
I was originally told there was no chance of a 12 month contract but stuck to my guns when I said I wasn't interested in a fancy phone using the £7.50 T-mobile deal at the time as a haggling point.
Could possibly have got sim only for £10 per month.0 -

I didn't realise you could get a PAC online. How did you do that?3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

There is an option for contact us on the home page - give me a sec and I'll go and find the location....
Support (right hand side) then...
Get in touch then...
Email us
You just fill out your details on the form, leave a brief message and your PAC code is texted to you within 24 hours usually and also posted out to you. With the text message it says someone will give you a call to confirm. This is the part where you can haggle as it's retentions and a UK based call centre.0 -
HTC Desire HD (£20 upfront)
300 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet (500mb FUP)
18 months
£25 per month
Settled for that, had to drop 300 minutes but apparently I don't need them, I'll ring up and blag it back up to 600 soon anyway0 -

if they think you don't need them then why would it hurt them to give you them, if you see what I mean.
My son only has 100 minutes on his current plan (contract in my name) but he wants 600 on the new contract - no doubt they will tell me that 300 is more than enough!
He is currently interested in the HTC Wildfire for 20 per month maximum. Would still only get 300 minutes with Vodafone but T Mobile will give 600 so that will be my bargaining tool - assuming the offer doesn't change before 3rd December (first day I can get PAC).3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Secured the following deal from the outbound retentions team last week:
HTC Desire HD (free)
900 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet (500mb)
Unlimited landline calls (was also offered the option of unlimited vodafone to vodafone calls)
18 month contract
£25 per month
I'm not a heavy user and my previous contract was for £25 per month (originally reduced from £35 for the 18 month contract duration), however then my monthly minutes were only 600 and I did not have unlimited landline calls included.0 -
Fair play they don't half talk some !!!!, I was told there was absolutely no way they could do the DHD for free on £25 p/m
Looks like I'll be ringing them back up tomorrow then0 -
Retentions rang after requesting PAC
Took :-
HTC WildFire on 18months for £17.50
600m/unlimited texts as before
Discounted to end of contract
No delivery charge
Now changed 4 an HTC DESIRE, same deal0 -
Retentions didn't offer me anything interesting. Said he'd possibly be able to include 500mb data in the SIM only £15 pm plan (600 mins, unlimited texts) but only if I moved to a 12 month contract, but he'd have to 'ask his boss'. Oh please. I decided to sit it out as think (?) there may be better deals in the new year and may get a better upgrade
They are very quick to contact you with your PAC code imo, not really trying to keep SIM only customers. I spend £20 per month as have a intl text add on too. I wish they'd copy O2 and have 50 countries with 10p texts. Voda are 28p or something.0
