 After requesting my PAC code and sending my 30day notice, a Vodafone advisor phoned me last week and offered me a sim-only deal of 600mins & unlimited texts for £10 a month (on a 12month contract). I wanted to have a think about it and he was to phone back the next night. Unfortunately i had a death in the family and couldn't take his calls so i phoned Vodafone yesterday afternoon to renew my contract on the deal i was offered but was told that this is not available and he couldn't have offered it in the first place. I am extremely annoyed with Vodafone as i was made to feel as if i was lying about what i was offered and am also very disappointed as the best deal they would offer me was the same as a new customer signing up. If this is how they treat a customer of 9 years i am not surprised Vodafone's customer service gets such a bad press.

To top it off she went on to say that there were no notes on the system regarding this call but yet she knew who the person was from the system, and then continued to tell me she could not contact that person as they 'didn't work for Vodafone' as they were an outbound call centre. To me this isn't acceptable - this person phoned me with all my vodafone details so as far as i am concerned he worked for Vodafone!

Do i have any come back or where can i take it from here to get this deal – any advice appreciated. Thanks

Try ringing again and speak to someone else, who is more helpful.

I've been reading the last few pages of this thread now and I'm confused.....

Do Vodafone actually have a stock of the HTC Desire HD phones? And if so does this mean they can offer deals on them?

I'm just out of contract now with Vodafone and my current handset barely works, having been with them for over 10 years I phoned about an upgrade on Friday evening. I'd seen a colleagues Desire HD and being very impressed with it I thought I'd upgrade to one myself. I spoke to someone from the Retentions team they offered me 300 mins, unlimited texts and 500MB Internet at £35 a month with a free handset.

I explained my colleague had purchased his through e2save and had a better deal at only £25 a month. The guy explained that he could only offer me the standard deal as per their website as they didn't actually have the phones in stock, when they did they might be able to do something. I'd noted that day that T mobile were offering a Desire HD, 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500MB internet for £25 a month which I explained to the chap on the phone, he again said he couldn't do a thing as Voda don't actually have the phones.

In the end I asked if it was possible to take my number with me if I took up the T mobile deal and he explained about a PAC code and that he'd request one for me. He did tell me I could wait a couple of weeks and phone back as Voda might be able to do something once they have the phones in stock but he couldn't guarantee that and I'm concerned about missing out on the T mobile deal.

After my long and rambling explanation....what I'm looking to find out is:
    - Is that correct that Vodafone cannot do deals on phones they don't have in stock? (I notice other people on this thread have deals a week ago and Voda didn't have stock then)
    - Does anyone think Voda will be able to offer me a HTC Desire HD with 300 mins, unlimited texts, 500mb internet at £25 per month? Is that realistic?

As I've said I've been with Vodafone for over 10 years, I've had some really bad service in that time, and I've had some really good service also. At times I've spent a considerable amount of money with them and at others just kept to my tarriff. For the last 10 months I've had numerous calls from them explaining that I'm a loyal customer and wanting to try and sell me this and that. If they can offer me the same deal as I can get as a new customer elsewhere then I'm happy to stay with them.

    Thanks, Paul

Just to update my comment. After posting this the Web Retentions Team asked me to email them which I did and this morning was phoned by Paul. He was incredibly helpful and has offered me what I wanted, which was 300 mins, Unlimited Texts and 500MB Internet for £25 per month.

I'm a little disappointed that I had to post here in order to have someone who knew what they were doing able to help me as I'd spoken to them twice on the phone and had conflicting information. However the overall result is that I've been offered what I was after and Paul and the Web Retentions Team are well worth speaking to.

    That's a really good deal.

I've spoken 3 or 4 times to Vodafone about an upgrade since I was due one on 24 September and I'm now in the last month of my contract. I've been on a discounted rate (£17.50p/m, 200mins, 1000 texts and unlimited internet) which has suited me perfectly the last 17 months and I was hoping to secure an upgrade on similar terms.

I had my heart set on the Desire HD but to be more realistic, I'd happily take a Desire on similar terms. Nobody at Voda has offered a remotely good enough tariff to renew my contract which is surprising when there are a number of deals on other networks around the £20 mark.

I guess I'm posting here in the hope that web relations will be able to step in and rescue the day! :D

Upgrades can't do anything and if you're not a heavy user (I'm not) then they won't really do anything. Best to wait until you're in the last 30 days, ask for a PAC code, find a deal and then match it. The outbound retentions team can normally do a good deal for you.

There are some cracking deals on other networks for 24 month contracts but I can't see myself using the same phone for 2 years, I've been bored of my nokia 5800 for the last 4 months :rotfl:

I have just had the oddest experience - rang up to give my notice, armed with my list of possible new phones to see what they could offer. The advisor told me he could not process my disconnection request, and to send them an email instead, no question of why I might want to leave and what they could do to save me?!!? So it looks like they are losing me ... How very bizarre!
    Gone ... or have I?

Email them via the contact form on the website. Retentions will ring within 24 hours and offer.

I have, the problem is I'm not good with phones (MH problems) and I don't/ can't answer incoming calls. Not to worry, plenty more offers in the sea! ;)

    Is that £25/month + VAT = £29 or total £25? I think I need to reneg. my deal :(.
