Vodafone Retention Deals

I got:
Samsung Galaxy S 8gb
600mins
Unlimited texts
500mb data
12 month contract
9 x £17.50, 3 x £35
Normal upgrade line, not retentions.0 -
I got called today about upgrades, but was left disappointed.
I Really want a galaxy S, but was told they could either do 600/unl. texts/1 gb data at either 30 for 24 months or 35 for 18 months...
exactly the same as a new customer deals online. I said i want to upgrade but feel 5 years of loyalty should be rewarded with a discount, even when i upgraded in store once they gave me an account credit!
He tried to put 300 mins in to bring the price down but it didn't work on his system
Not impressed : /0 -
Another point is that the focus here seems to be on the web relations team as the people who can offer the most. Since this deal looks like it was through the cancellations department can we assume that the web team don't have the clout we are led to believe?
Certainly none of the deals they have offered have come close to this - or actually been that impressive to be honest. Maybe the web team themselves can shed some light...credit where credit is due!!
ben called me yesterday, and made me an offer of
Samsung Galaxy S ( 8gb)
600 free minutes
unlimited texts
1gb data
16 months @ £25 6 months @ £30
Ben was a delight to talk to, and offered me other deals too. Can't fault him and his team, just a shame that customers need to haggle in the first place.

That's a huge difference in plans for a Samsung Galaxy S. Chris1983 clearly got the best deal and he got it from the upgrade line. dandan666 got his deal from Ben from the web relation team and it was a horrible plan in comparison.0 -

Don't expect the loyalty line to get you a good deal. If you're not a customer that makes them money, you're of little interest.
Adding a few extra minutes to your tariff is a classic tactic to make you think you're getting a better deal. Often customers don't use these extra minutes and even if they do, it costs the network very little.
Try retentions and if necessary request your PAC code to tempt them into giving the best deals they can. It's a discount on your line rental you're really after.0 -
Hi everyone,
Thought I'd address a few more posts to see if I can help again
John 3:16 - When you filled in the Contact Us Page did you ensure you used MMM135 as the subject line? This routes it directly to my team. You'll also get an auto response from our inbox too to say you reached the Web Relations Team.
Jimgee / nickmack / Chris 1983 - I won't lie when I see this is a rather out there deal. While I don't doubt it exists for some customers wo have accumulated the right kind of usage and payment history (see my previous post for examples) it's certainly not something I can arrange via my team for new connection customers.
While we'd always check the system to see what the most we can offer is, I can't guarentee it for every customer because we do have to ensure we make money on the account. We're a business just like any other; the difference with my team being we aren't comissioned or targeted so we can usually do the best plans available.
Justlikethat / Mr Joe - You're both more than welcome to get in touch via our Contact Us Page to see if we can get the plan you want. Our tariffs are typically £5 per month cheaper than the online store for upgrade customers. There are exceptions such as iPhones or where discounts are already in place online but it's worth a shot!
Fila - As mentioned in my previous post on this thread, different customers with different usage history will be entitled to different offers. The aftercare my team offer is priceless to most customers who deal with us and if the usage in the past allows us to go lower then we will.
Hope this helps answer a few questions everyone. Have a good weekend!
Kind regards,
Ben Haslehurst

I phoned the standard Vodafone sales line to ask about an 18 month Desire tariff and within 2 minutes was offered a £12 discount for 15 months on a £45 plan with free phone. And then there's any potential cashback deals to factor in.
So 2 minute experiment over and the results are in. The web team are clearly a friendly bunch and the cream of the Vodafone customer services crop. However they appear long on blandishments and short on impressive deals.
Until they are irrefutably offering better deals than any other Vodafone department (and I include if we just cancel and sign up again as a new customer) I'd suggest they should stop giving that impression.0 -
I have submitted a request for an upgrade deal using the link and details that the vodafone rep provided. Fingers crossed that I won't have to end up moving phone company again. I only moved to vodafone last year after getting truly tired of 3's customer service and not being offered anything better than new customers get. Hopefully they will want to keep me since I regularly rack up more money that I should when abroad for work!.:A :A :A :A

Logged on to check my vodafone account and suddenly realised that for my current bill and the previous two I haven't been receiving the discount that is included in my current deal.
The contract is 12 months long and it runs out this month and the deal should have run for the whole 12 months. I will now have to chat to them about this too.:A :A :A :A

Good morning everyone,
I thought I’d just pop onto the thread for a quick update.
MoneyGypsy: I’m sorry about the issue regarding the discount on your account. I can see that Kirsty has already responded to your post.
Jimgee: Thanks for your post and the compliment regarding our customer service skills. It’s much appreciated. Vodafone has taken a battering on this thread regarding it’s level of service to our customers and we’re here to try and put it right.
We’re on here to try and help offer you the best deals we possibly can. As Ben has previously mentioned we’re not commission based, or targeted and our deals are usually the best available.
However as we’ve previously mentioned there is a new upgrading method is available to our sales channels. There are times that this will be better than the deals that the Web Relations Team can offer, in this instance we will use that tool. If one of our deals is better, we will offer that.
Hope to speak to you soon,
Ian
