Vodafone Retention Deals

Just a warning to those wanting to upgrade on Vodafone. They really don't give a monkeys! I've had 1/2 a dozen phones with Vodafone ever since I took out my first contract way back in 1988 with Executive Car Telephones. Now I'm down to one phone and one mobile broadband contract.
I thought I'd try out their online upgrade service and is offered about 10 cruddy phones, all free on 24 months, so I clicked 18 months and got the same phones for free, then clicked 12 months and again got the same phones for free.
Each time Vodafone peed me off I took a phone account to another provider. Seems like I won't be with Vodafone for long. The man without a signature.0 -
have just rung Vodafone and got the HTC desire on 300 minutes talk, unlimited texts and unlimited internet, for £20 including VAT per month, 24 month contract. Only slight setback was the phone is £99, but I was going to be stung for my current tariff on 1 moonths cancellation so not having to do this, and I get to keep my number.
VF don't have unlimited data anymore... according to them, they stopped marketing "unlimited" data plans since January... we all know that's lies of course, the info on their own website only changed from "unlimited" to 500MB at the beginning of June.
Edit: so if the person on the phone told you "unlimited" they were lying. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
iPhone 4
Has anyone enquired about upgrading to an iPhone 4 - if so what deal did you get ?
I'll probably get an HTC Desire, just curious to know what deals can be had.

Vodafone outsource customer service, is retentions ? you know does the better a deal you get at upgrade depend on the profit an outsourced loses ?If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:0 -
i called up to request my PAC code as I want an Iphone4 and 3 are offering a much better deal than vodafone. After 5 years with them they didn't even ask why I wanted to leave, said my PAC code will be with me in 2-4 days! Great to know you're a valued customer eh!0

The more I think about it the more the move to T-Mobile makes sense.
3GB internet allowance and free land line calls, and no more of Vodafone's malarkey.
The only downside is the hassle of switching.
I will be at the end of my contract at the end of August, hopefully Beepy and other resellers will have lots of HTC Desire's in stock by then.

Called Vodafone earlier, giving me such a rubbish deal on the HTC Desire, worse than buying it as a new customer!
24 months contract, free phone, 600 minutes, 500mb internet, unlimited texts £35 a month!
I was chatting to the "High Value Retentions" department, Yeh right!0 -
Hi everyone, i hope this is not too long for you - i have missed out a bit to try and keep it short but the basis is here.
Today after a bit of trouble me and my girlfriend have just taken out new contracts with Vodafone.
We both came to the end of our 18 month contracts with Vodafone (this is the first contract we had with them and was for 18 months) which gave us the following;
A Samsung phone (nothing fancy)
A playstation 3 console (car phone warehouse deal)
600 minutes
500 texts
And I think no internet access (if none, then not much)
My girlfriend used the online method of cancelling our contracts and asked for a PAYG sim.
A few days later someone from Vodafone retentions called me up and offered me a deal if I would stay with them.
I said no a few times and I told him that I just wanted a PAYG sim and that’s it but he kept trying.
He then just came out and said I could have a HTC Desire handset (free), 600 minutes, unlimited text and internet access for £17.50 for the life of the contract (24 months)
Not knowing too much about phones I told him to phone me back the next day after I had talked to my girlfriend, which he did not do.
Both happy with the offer I then spent 2 days phoning Vodafone and trying to make them believe that this offer had really been given to me (They kept telling me that that offer was impossible, Vodafone would make no money from it and that there was nothing on there system about anyone making this offer)
To cut a long and painful story short, We both got this deal BUT the sales person who took the contract gave both of us 900 minutes for the same price saying that the phone came with that contract so it would be easier for him to process.
So we now have two contracts with;
HTC Desire (free)
900 minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited internet
£17.50 a month for the life of the contract.
Don’t give up and if they take your number and say they will phone you back – DO NOT BELIEVE THEM.
I refused to go off the line and take a phone call back even when the manager came on as they lie to you, I hung on even though my right ear hurts a lot from the phone being pressed against it
