Had a call from retentions last week having returned my upgrade due to the whole "Unlimited Internet" FUP and requested my PAC. At the time of the call I was actuallly online about to place an order with T-Mobile...

The guy I spoke to said to get me to stay he could offer me a 50% reduction on my current line rental making it £12.50pm for 500mins + 100txts. I said I wanted the HTC Desire, he said he could do that for free on the same tarriff for 24months. If I wanted to add internet it would be an extra £5pm making it £17.50pm for 500mins/100txts/500mb Internet.

At this point I'm thinking this seems too good to be true so was mulling it over for ages on the phone - I really want to leave Vodafone due to awful customer services and problems every time I upgrade (spent the last 2yrs paying £5pm more on two contracts than I had agreed too...).

Eventually I said I really can't decide now to take this or not, so will have a think about it - he said he'd make a note and someone would call again tomorrow. Spoke to someone again a few days later who was offering me:

    A free Desire
    300mins, Unlimited txts & Internet for £20pm

    or

    A free Desire
    600mins, Unlimited txts & Internet for £25pm

When I told him about the deal i'd been offered before he said that is just not possible and there is no way that they could do that, as over the 24month period @ £12.50 it'd only cost £300 which wouldn't even cover the cost of the phone - so the computer wouldn't actaully allow it to be sent out.

He then actaully said that the person who offered me this was "probably just trying to get me to sign up" and I wouldn't end up with that deal decribed as it's not possible - which we all know seems to happen a lot. I then said that things like that are the exact reason that I want to leave and if I'd taken up the offer then now be stitched up again (across two contracts) which I think is disgusting to be honest.

With that I told him I would leave his two options as well, his response - "I don't blame you". I will say though that I believe the two deals he offered above are genuine (I was on the £25pm option before I returned my upgrade).

To add to that the supplier I was going to get the Desire from on T-Mobile is now out of stock, having delayed my order to consider this bogus offer - cheers voda....

    Hi...

    I've been with Vodafone for 9 years but will not be upgrading with them again - I'm off to T-Mobile, the reasons being;

1, Vodafone took £600 to much from my bank account and are refusing to refund it all - they offered a poultry £200 refund of the £600 they stole from me. I have contacted OFCOM and will pursue complaint and full refund - I wont let them get away this.

2, T-Mobile offer 3 gigs monthly allowance for mobiles that use the Android operating system. BTW, the HTC Desire uses Android

""Pay monthly plans which include internet on your phone on an Android phone

You'll need internet coverage, check it at t-mobile.co.uk/streetcheck. Remember that you can only use your internet on your phone Booster in the UK and you can't use your phone as a modem or use web'n'walk Plus for peer to peer file sharing, or making internet phone calls. *Internet on your phone comes with a fair use policy of 3GB a month. We'll monitor how much you send and receive each calendar month so that we can protect our network for all our internet on your customers. If you use more than your fair use policy amount, we won't charge you any more, but we may restrict how you can use your plan, depending on how often you go over your amount and by how much. As your phone is always connected to the internet, if you remove your internet on your phone Plus Booster from your account you'll automatically be charged up to £1 every day. That £1 a day rate has its own fair use policy and other legal stuff, which you can see here: t-mobile.co.uk/services/uk/fairuse/#fup5.

    www t-mobile co uk/services/uk/fairuse/ "

It's a no brainer for me, and I've seen good deals for T-Mobile too like £25 a month for 18 months with 300 mins, 300 texts and 3 gigs of internet with free Desire handset.

    Goodbye Vodafone, hello T-Mobile.

    Does any body know...

...if Vodafone offer to match t-mobiles Android internet usage allowance of 3GB ?

If Vodafone actually do the right thing and refund all the money they owe me and offer to match the t-mobile Andriod internet allowance I would probably stay with them if they offered a HTC Desire on an 18 month contract @ £25 a month.

After seemingly months of calls about my old contract with Vodafone, I received, firstly:

About six weeks ago an £80 credit to my account and the contract I wanted (SIM only) until the HTC Desire came in.

HTC Desire now in and offered

18 month contract, £30 per month including VAT

    600 anytime minutes
    Unlimited texts
    1Gb of mobile internet data
    HTC Desire free of charge
    £20 accessories credit
£45 credit (in lieu of 16Gb memory card as none available)

    Deal or no deal?

Got that in writing? Sounds to good to be true unless they can back it up by text/email. I've been with them for nearly 8 years and can't get a decent deal out of anyone at Vodafone on a Desire. I'm currently on £35/month for 600mins and unlimited txts, want the same talk plan with the 1gb data for £30 over 18months and they won't budge- only on a 24 month plan. This is despite me regularly having a higher spend with them (some months earlier this year were £80-odd due to being abroad). There seems to be zero recognition for customer loyalty at vodafone!

Well, the good news was that I DID get it in writing, via email. In addition I was going to get a spare SIM as well:beer: :T

Sadly (and I am sure other Vodafone users can guess where this post is going) since then it has been all downhill

Having been promised a delivery of the phone and the SIM card the following day between 8.00am and 10.00am I had to break the news to the Missus that she couldn't have a lie in as I had to travel out of town and was leaving at 6.00am.
So, as I headed Oop North the following morning I got a text just after 7.30am saying that my delivery would NOT be arriving and I would get another text, at some stage, saying when I would do. Within 5 minutes I got another text saying my delivery would arrive between 8am and 10am :j.

I couldn't speak to the better looking half of my relationship until lunchtime. I rang her.
    "Has it arrived?"
"Well, a package did arrive in a package measuring two feet long by 1 foot wide."
    "Great, the phone", I said
"No, just the SIM card!!", she said (sure enough, in the biggest waste of carbon they sent a SIM card in an envelope I could hide a small South American country in!).

Cue dictation to Mrs H of a stroppy email to vodafone. Cue, a couple of hours later, a call from my friendly Vodafone guy at Web Relations saying he was just as exasperated as I was and had sworn as often as I had done (I bet he hadn't) and he would do his best to sort it out and there may be one in my local shop that he was trying to source and he was in on Saturday and would keep me informed and, anyway, as he had said they were due another delivery in on Monday so one would definitely be sorted......

...this morning, as I had heard nothing further  I emailed again. Apparently, bless him, he had been out of the office and couldn't contact me (but was in on Saturday and must have been in today but, hey, why should I split hairs) and there was nothing that could be done.

So, the moral of this story is don't believe them when they tell you something over the phone; don't even believe them if they stick something in writing. I am tempted to say to you don't even believe it if you get a phone delivered as it will probably be a mirage! Frankly, this once excellent company has gone down the pan and I can well understand everyone's frustrations. Strangely, however, the only rep who has delivered on his promise (he got me my £80 credit into the account) is the much maligned (on here) Tom! :rotfl:

    PS
Just checked my email and Vodafone are now thanking me for renewing my contract!! They really are a joke now!

    Hey...

Well, if I wanted to I could now upgrade my handset and renew my contract with Vodafone today.

    Not sure I will though.

Just been speaking to billing support about the £600 they have overcharged me - last week when I phoned they said it would all be resolved by now.

Now I have been told that my refund is going to be dealt with by Banbury head office and all will be resolved within 24 hours - Hmmm.

I really am at my wits end. I've been with Vodafone for 9 years, and they were once so efficient and competitive, but now they are the opposite.

I wont hold my breath, but lets see if they can sought things as promised.

If they do, and it's a big if, I might actually stay with them if they can match t-mobiles 3GB internet allowance for handsets that use the Android operating system.

The Vodafone of yesteryear would have been aware of t-mobiles offer and would have been matching it, or more likely bettering it - how can such a huge, profitable company treat it's loyal customers so badly, oh how times have changed.

Vodafone, if your reading this, when your long term loyal customers begin to seriously consider leaving you for the competition, which offer better deals & bundled allowances at lower prices, you should really wonder if this is the beginning of the end... remember what happened to Cellnet ?

    Whinge over.

Hefferlump - after reading your post and noticing that Vodafone offered you a 1GB internet allowance I had another look at there website and saw this...

    Tethering - a 3GB monthly internet allowance for £15 a month, or 5GB for £25 - http://online.vodafone.co.uk/business/business-internet/broadband-via-mobile-phone .

Now an allowance like that is more suited to today's all singing all dancing internet smart phones - but I am miffed that what is included in an Android t-mobile tariff at no extra charge costs £15 extra on top of a standard monthly Vodafone tariff :(

Maybe if I do get my refund sorted to my satisfaction Vodafone may offer me a deal on tethering, or at least offer to increase there internet allowance for me, as they have for you.

The offer to me is all well and good...but if they can't do the most important part of it, supplying the relevant bleedin' phone in the first place, it doesn't really matter, does it? As others are saying on this and other threads and forums, the old Vodafone would not have let all this happen. Sadly it is as if the new Vodafone are operating out of a three wheel van with "Trotters Independent Traders" emblazoned down the side. It's probably parked in Banbury!

I'm approaching the end of my 12 month sim only deal with Vodafone. For £15 I get 600 mins, unlimited texts and crucially free Vodafone Family. I am willing to commit for another 12/18 months...given its a sim only deal is it worth calling Vodafone to either reduce my monthly line rental or throw in a phone?

I'm on a 12 month sim only deal with Vodaphone - 600 mins/texts, no internet @£20 p.m. Just got my pac as under a month till contract up. I'm looking for a new contract ( preferably 12 months but could go 18 months ). Wants - need a new phone ( good but doesn't need to be the best ), 600 mins/texts again & internet, this time. Plus max £20 p.m. but preferably less. What do you think I could get out of Vodafone ?

So far, the only offer was the HTC Desire (which I did mention to them) at £25 p.m. on 18 month contract. Equivilent terms as per the £30.00 p.m. 24 month deal on Vodafone website. I'm not sure I believe the CS on that one though, it was a first offer !
