Vodafone Retention Deals

Do Vodafone negotiate on their SIM only deals? basically, I currently have 75 free mins, 200 free texts, unlimited internet at £20 a month. I never use all my free texts or minutes, but realise I'm never going to get the phone I want (HTC Desire) for free at the end of this month when my upgrade is available, or at a decent monthly rate.
Even if I get it free and at £20 a month,(very unlikely, more like £35) over a 24 month contract that is £480 (or £840 @ £35). The phone only costs £399, so I think I will buy it outright, get a 30 day SIM only deal. I find the SIM only deals though have huge minutes and texts I never use, and would rather have a lower monthly cost for (say £10?) if this includes a larger data limit. The 30 day contract means I can just sell the phone after a few months and get something else when it comes along without being tied into a long contract, or jump ship to a better deal.
Anyone managed to negotiate something like this?0 -

A sim only deal for 75 mins, 200 texts with UI as an upgrade should be £10 MAX. Its such low usage. A lot of mobile companies a few weeks ago (appreciate thats no good now but the same deals may be around again) were offering decent cashback on sim only deals that occasionally worked out at under £5 a month.
If you can get that and afford the initial outlay of a Desire then that is clearly the way to go.0 -
Thanks for the prize offer Three1ne but what i would really like is the same as yourself, to be offered the same deals from vodafone that other customers have recieved!!
I was offered (by retentions) :-
600 minutes
unlimited Texts
unlimited net
24 months
£25 a month
'free' desire
Only the phone never turned up, then when i phoned VF to check details i was told that the actual deal was only 300mins.
Needless to say i hate being lied to so i cancelled the phone upgrade!
Very unhappy with VF and now looking to leave for another provider0 -
Finally got an upgrade sorted;
free nokia n900, 900 mins, unlimited txts, unlimited landlines, 500mb Internet, 18 month contract, for £35 Inc vat (£5 cheaper than currently paying).

How did you get this deal? I have been asking for exactly this from Voda since Feb only to be told not possible. After being with Vodafone for years I am now ready - out of contract - to move!0 -

current (old) tariff: £24/month with 125minutes stop the clock + text + web bundle
new tariff: £25/month 300minutes unlimited texts and web bundle.
The desire handset is going to be free
Oh yeah, getting an 8GB card thrown in too
Should ave mine Tuesday/Wednesday!
Yes, perhaps if Vodafone had offered me something similar I might have stayed with them ..... and perhaps others might stay with them if there were some consistency in their customer offers..
I've got Free unbranded+unlocked Desire, 900xnet/anytime mins, 500 txts, unlimited web at £30 per month on T-Mobile but 6 months half price making it £26.25 over 24 months. and a free 4GB card !0 -
The 4GB card is free anyway :P0
-
Yes I have to admit that T-mobile price plans are quite tempting!0

Yep, now I look at it again I see that.
Do you know if the Vodafone Desire is unlocked and unbranded ? That was the swinger for me !0 -
I've not seen any branded screens yet on it and I played with one from bootup at Vodafone store as well.
Vodafone handsets are not locked either0 -
My contract is up in 3 weeks at which point I will be cut off as I have emailed to cancel. Am tempted by the 16gb 3GS @ £30 a month for 24 months, however as a VF customer of some 7/8 years I naturally don't want to pay the £149 fee for the phone.
I know the price plan costs are set in stone by Apple but is there any leeway on the phone fee or is that locked as well ?0
