For christ sake, just used that link, typed up a message (using all of the allowed space - stupid feature anyway) then clicked submit = 'Error'. Message deleted. AAHH

Having noticed a climb in the cost of my vodafone bills each month, I reviewed all my statements available on the vodafone billing website. I usually just check the total bill amount and if it is about what I expect, don't check the full itemisation.

You all may now refer to me as a muppet.

Upon checking back, I started being charged for every text SMS message that I sent on the 10th of May 2009. When I renegotiated my contract, I was given 500 free text messages a month as part of it.
This was still showing as being on the Price plan summary on the website, but I was clearly still being charged for every message!

I contacted the Customer Service section, who after some investigation agreed that I was correct and that the 500 messages had been "accidentally removed" from my account on 10/05/09. The Senior person in the call centre wiped out my current bill and has credited my account with the difference, which I am satisifed with.

I'm curious though, how this happened in the first place and would be interested to hear from the Vodafone rep who MSE allow to post on this
thread. Are the Vodafone IT systems that poor that they allow this to occur accidentally? or is this a slightly more sinister business practice that takes advantage of people who aren't in the habit of checking bill itemisation regularly?
To all Moneysavers, please check your bills to make sure that I am the one off mistake that I have been lead to believe. If I'm not, I feel an OFCOM referral coming on.........

    Hi lilangel

It can take up until your first bill is produced with your new priceplan before you see any of the additional services of your package detailed online.

I've just checked on your account and can confirm you do have Unlimited Texts and the Mobile Internet package.

I'll get an email sent over to you shortly to confirm this too.

    Thanks,

    Hi jimthediver

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with your account and I'm delighted the team have got this sorted out for you now.

It certainly does sound like it was accidental that the text bundle was not allocated to your account. Each section of your plan needs to be manually selected when you make any changes, so it seems as though human error has played it's part here, and it's not been added to your account when you upgraded.

If you have any further questions or issues with your bill, you know where to find us.

    Thanks

Yeah, mine went unanswered for 2 months - I am now with 3 (excellent so far - I can now get 3G inside my house which was no go with Vodafone) my message still hasn't been answered .....

Personal opinion, I think Vodafone have a lot of troubles just now.

    Hi Vodafone Rep.

My contract with T-Mobile will be ending soon.
I am looking to get the HTC Desire when it ends.
Is there anyway to get a good deal which will be cheaper from what they will be offering when its released?

    Hi All,

Just wondering what the latest sort of retention deals being offered are?

GF's contract is due to expire shortly and while our experience this past 18 months with vodafone has not been brilliant (things missing from agreed contract, prices not being stuck to, discount not being applied despite being agreed to) I figure we're more likely to get a better deal by sticking with them, than going somewhere else and starting afresh.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

    Dan

Personally, I wouldn't bet on it mostly the deals I was offered were the same as the website, I think that Loyalty is fast loosing currency as a chip to bargain with.

Note that's not a swipe specifically at Vodafone my wife had a similar experience at 3.

I think that mobile companies profile their customers and you go into a particular category depending on your spend and usage and this, more than loyalty determines your range of deals - have mobile companies got wise to the loyalty bargain?

In terms of suggestions, wait till the contract expires then call for your PAC. They will then try to persuade you to stay, tell them what you want in order to stay and see how close they can or can't get - don't be afraid to move if you can't get what you want although do have your backup plan ready first.

    Good luck.
