Minor point, but I got called by someone claiming to be vodafone retention, (I'm a month or so away from the end of my minimum contract). Googling the number and it looks legit, however when you ask about anything to prove they are vodafone they won't tell you anything citing data protectino act.
Now we get told time and time again not do divulge personal details and the first thing they ask is for you to ask you your details for security reasons then get upset when you won't give out. It would help if they told you something about your account, something no use to anyone else, say the name of your bank, or what phone they supplied you last, but anything that identified them as the "real" vodafone.0 -
Hi, been with Vodafone for 2 years and need to go through the lovely process of requesting a PAC to get a decent deal. My contract is up on April 2nd, can someone confirm exactly what I have to do - written letter, how much notice etc.0

I have just went through an awful period trying to cancel- I won't go into details, But Vodafone are chancers!!
If you want to cancel my advice is as follows (I learnt this the hard way).
1. Do everything via email/or letter. Email via Vodafone website. I would avoid talking to them unless you really have to.
2. Vodafone will accept cancelation requests via email, but I suggest you also send a copy to Vodafone Disconnections, PO BOX 549, Banbury, OX17 3ZJ
3. In your email state clearly you want to cancel, request cancelation date, and if you want a PAC code request this also, and ask them when you can expect to recieve it.
4. 30 days notice is required. So if your contract is up within the next 30 days and you want to move - SEND EMAIL NOW!!. Tell them you want to cancel on the date you are out of contract.
5. They will call you back. If you still want to cancel make this clear (if you give them any indication you are not sure they can over-ride your cancellation request, and they will deny it later)
6. Keep all corespondence. Sounds Easy - Was not made easy for me - Vodafone take note..............
Good luck -Adios Vodafone0 -
Thanks rolo1. I phoned up a few weeks ago (believing I could upgrade) and asked about canceling or requesting PAC code, he wasnt too clear about it, If I just want a PAC code I think he was telling me I could phone up on the day my contract ends and receive the code by txt and as soon as im set up with a new provider then Vodafone will cancel my contract.
Is that correct? Does a PAC cost?0 -
I've just contacted Vodaphone through the email on the website with the MMM135 in the subject line please can someone acknowledge that this has been recieved.0

Good Evening gjchester
I can understand you not wanting to give out any information over the phone, particularly if you were not expecting a call.
If you've got a PIN set on your account for security we'll ask you to confirm this when you call which should give you an idea that we're the real deal. You can also request to call 191 to verify that the person calling you is indeed from Vodafone.
You can contact us directly using the link below and we'll be able to get in touch to see what we can offer you. If you can include the code MMM135 in the subject field the email will come directly through to our team.

You can also use the same link to get in touch with us. We'd be more than happy to see what we can offer you, and we can request your PAC if that's what you decide to do.
If you're in the last month of your contract there is no cost to get your PAC. If you wanted to get your PAC before this time, you would just be charged for the line rental up to the end of your contract. It can take upto 48 hours (2 working days) for your code to be generated.
All the best,

Hi lilangel
I've just checked through our email inbox and we don't seem to have anything from the same email address that you've got registered here.
We'll get an email sent over to you now though, if you can reply to this we'll be in touch to see what we can offer you.

Something for those who have obtained their PAC code to remember...it lasts for 28 days and, if you don't change in that time, you will have to request a new one.
Umm...like I will have to due to pressure of work!
It IS worth getting your PAC code though...even if you end up staying with Vodafone. However, as is noted on various posts, new punters seem to get a better deal and other companies want you!0
