  • I am currently on a 18 months contract with 600mins+unlimited text+unlimited internet for £30 a month. My Nokia E66 was stolen 6 months ago, and I have been using a nokia 8310 since then. With my contract coming to an end in March, i thought it would be a good time to get an upgrade (jan 13th).

So I took a look around on the web, and all other network operators seems to have better deals (even new vodafone customes). Which has always been the case in the past, and I really don't understand why. I have been with Vodafone for 5 years now, and the only reason that I've stayed with Vodafone was because most of my friends are on vodafone (which is no longer the case). So I am considering switching to Orange to take advantage of Orange Wednesdays.

My girlfriend is also due for an upgrade (who is currently on the same tariff as me), does anyone of you know if we could get a better deal if two of us upgrade together?

i don't believe you can use a pac code on the same network, it's either an upgrade or a brand new number customer

... or you can PAC to PAYG on another network (free sims always available - T Mobile, Virgin and Orange seem quite quick from memory), then 2 days later request your PAC and come back to the network of choice ;)

  • Dear Web Retentions Team

I have now reached the point where I am eligible to upgrade my two numbers on my Vodafone account but after calling both upgrades and disconnections yesterday looking for a sim only deal, I was not offered any kind of deal despite mentioning some of the deals offered on here and available through quidco etc.

I was left feeling a disappointed and despondent and certainly had no incentive to remain tied to a contract where I could get the same benefits from a no tie in 30 day sim only or massive savings on 2 x 12 month contracts using quidco.

I have sent a message to you through the links you provide with the WRT135 tag in the subject line so I hope you can help as I have received great service from Vodafone throughout the contract.

    Kind regards

I am currently on: 600 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet for £30/months (18 months contract), which I am eligible for an upgrade in 2 weeks time.

Saw other people's posts on the thead that they were offered a storm 2 with 600 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet & blackberry service for £30/month (18 months contract).

So I contacted the web retention team and ask if I can upgrade to bold 2 and get the same deal. Sadly, the best offer they could give is:
600 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet & blackberry service for £40/month and 4 months half price(18 months contract).

Despite providing the links to the posts mentioning the strom 2 deals, the web retentions team insist that they can't verify whether those deals are real, and this is the best they can do at this moment in time. (and bold 2 is even cheaper than storm 2!!!)

I would have waited until my contract finishes if I didn't lose my phone. It's ridiculous how differently they treat you when you ask for an upgrade vs when you ask for you PAC code. If Vodafone treats their upgrade customers better, they wouldn't need to waste so much time trying to retain customers afterwards when they have asked for their PAC codes.

O2 and Orange certainly treats their existing customers better, and I will certainly be leaving vodafone after my contract expires, in fact I might even terminate it early!

Don't think I would agree with you regarding O2 treating their existing customers better, just look at the O2 retentions thread. Haven't heard of anyone getting decent deals in a long time.
