Vodafone Retention Deals

Well I'm on £25 pm contract whatever minutes or texts that includes and I'd thought I'd give Voda a call to enquire about an upgrade - not even asking for retentions department. Spoke to a girl who didn't seem to have a clue.
I asked for a N95 8Gb on a £35 tariff which is normally free to most peeps and she said that the phone was worth £500 and that's how much it would cost me. So I asked if this was an upgrade and she quote me some other figure. I said that if I did the upgrade online then the phone would be £210 and I could probably get a phone on fleabay for that amount. She then rattled on that the N95 wasn't a phone but a computer with GPS blah blah blah. It sounded as though she was being trained because every time I asked her a question the line would be put on hold and she "would have to check".
Not a pleasant experience, so I'm writing for my PAC.The man without a signature.0 -
Ive been offered a Sony Ericson W910I with 500 mins and 250 texts on a 12 month contract. £20 a month for first 9 months then £35 month for last 3 months but can upgrade again after 10 months.
Is this any good?0 -
Hi Everyone
I’m new here on the board, I used to work for Vodafone and would like to share some of my knowledge.
I thought I would explain the way that Vodafone sales works so you are assured to get the best mobile phone deal.
Firstly when your contract is ready for renewal (last 60 days ) you are eligible to upgrade your mobile phone, you call 191 and go through to the inbound sales team, they will give you very little free , possibly a very basic handset for free and not discount your line rental.
Most people accept the deal given as they are none the wiser and that’s it, however some customers will then threaten to leave because they have seen a better deal elsewhere or for whatever reasons, the inbound sales team will then advise the customer that they will need to speak to 'cancellations', these are a team of more experienced sales advisers equipped with more money to save you as a customer, they can’t cancel your contract as your contract can only be cancelled by giving 30 days notice in writing, they will tell you that the deal they are offerering is the best you will get from Vodafone and try to pressure you into doing a deal there and then. Now this is NOT the best deal you can get as the best deal is still to come, if they can’t retain you as a customer they will tell you to send in your 30 day notice letter which puts off more people from cancelling as it’s a hassle to put pen to paper and write this letter. What you can do is request your PAC Code (Port Authorisation Code) , this is the code you need to keep your existing mobile number and transfer it to your new mobile phone provider, when this team requests your PAC code it immediately passes your account information to the last and final sales team to retain your business.
This department is called the Outbound Retention department, their job is to call people that have sent in a letter to terminate their contract or have requested a PAC code, they are outbound which means they will call you, they will tell you that your PAC code has been raised and it’s in the post to you or your letter has been received and your account will closed as requested, they will then continue to question around the reasons why you are looking to leave. This is the department that can offer the best mobile deals , they can give you 9 months half price line rental if you sign up for a 12 month contract or 15 months half price if you sign up for an 18 month contract and they will also be able to offer you an expensive mobile phone and always remember to ask for a free Bluetooth headset and in car charger. Also remember that even though this department can do you a good deal it doesn’t mean they will so look around for the best deals available before you call, use a mobile phone comparison website like www.CompareYourMobile.com or similar and then call them up with your knowledge of the best deals available.
So in a nutshell , call Vodafone and ask for your PAC code and don’t do a deal until someone calls you back from the Outbound retention department and also it’s a good idea to check a mobile comparison website before you call to see what the best deal around currently is as they change continuously.
Aim for the phone you want for free and then 9 or 15 months half price line rental and then when this is agreed ask for accessories free (If you don’t ask you won’t get)0 -
nice one defect.
last yr i asked for my pac and got it and i don't think i had an outbound call, and didn't really want to leave and only got an average deal.
had my contract for 8 years or so and have another one under my name. never heard of tariff deals, well i do try to ask for a decent phone at the time.
i want the n95 8gb for both contracts and don't want to pay for more than £25 a month each, more so less really, if possible0 -

i was offered, as a first pass offer when i casually enquired about upgrades earlier this month - for £25pm, 500x-net plus stop the clock, 500 texts, plus free Nokia 6500 classic. I'm sure they can do better than that, as I havent even sent them a letter or requested my PAC yet.. so hold out for a good offer..We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Surely you can only request your pac when in your final month, as opposed to with 2 months to go?
Edit: I know you can request an upgrade with 2 months to go, but if you threatened to cancel if you declined the upgrade at this point, surely they would say you had to wait another month before sending in a letter?0 -
i was thinking that
i went onto voda upgrade online it says my 60 day period for upgrade isn't until end of this month.
so can they give you a pac code in last 60 days?0 -
