Vodafone rang me and cut my contract by three months for free so I can upgrade early (upgrade day tomorrow!) Has anyone heard of this happening before, I'm just waiting for the catch now....
Check whether your new contact will start from the original end date of your current contract. e.g.:
Would a new 18 month contract finish in April 2011, or July 2011?
I suspect the latter..0 -

I'd get them to put it in writing.
They did something similar with me and I upgraded last January for a new 12 month contract. I've just tried to upgrade again, and their website said I couldn't until January - the contract ends in March.
Now I'm not THAT bothered as I'm on an okish tariff (300 mins, unlimited txt for £15 a month, plus they threw in a Nokia 6300 to replace my older 6300), but as per another thread on this forum, they can be lying toads :rolleyes:0 -
Hi
My Vodafone contract is ending early March. My phone is getting old now so is it possible to upgrade early and tack my remaining 5 months onto another contract? Or would I just get a rubbish deal?
No, I doubt it. If your phone is that bad, then you could call them and have a chat (Be friendly and really cheerful, it really helps).
Personally though, it's nearly November, you'll be able to phone to argue the toss and upgrade in 2 months as they let you upgrade 60 days from contract end, so I'd try hanging on, you're bound to get a better deal.
If the phone is really really decrepit, you could get a very cheap PAYG phone and stick the sim in that for a few months. You can get the now old, but incredible in it's day Samsung E250 for next to nothing just to give one example. For what that phone does, it's a steal0 -
Hi there I am a newbie to the forums and I have been watching for all the offers that people have been getting. My contract was due to finish in December. I rang them up to enquire about an upgrade as I was able to upgrade from 17 Oct. I was given rubbish phones and ridiculous prices as I was on the old OFF PEAK 1000 MINS costing £12 per month.
I decided to ask for my PAC code which they gave no probs and sent out a letter. I also paid for the last month of my contract £26.34 so was now out of contract.
Today I managed to get : Free Nokia 5800 with no contribution
500 anytime minutes and 100 texts
Unlimited mobile internet
Vodafone passport
Was £35 p/m discounted to £20 p/m (18 month contract which I had already)
All this was confirmed with a Text message and an email (As advised by this site)
I am happy with the 5800 as I have an N95 8gb and like nokias.
What do you guys/gals think
:j

Not bad, but can be better.
Satio @ T-mobile with 700mins for 18months is also going at £30, but on top there is potentially £45 by redemption and £20 quidco. Perhaps you use this to negotiate more with Vodafone?

The deal I just signed up to is:
Free Sony Erricson W595
300 mins
unlimited txts
£15 a month for 24 months on Vodafone
£15 a month is what I've been putting on my pay as you go phone for god knows how many years, so I've now got a better deal for the same price. I needed a new phone too, so I'm pretty chuffedTSB: £4900
Virgin: £4700
Today is the first day of the rest of my life...0 -

This is a standard deal available everywhere.
For example, if you sign up from the mobiles dot com you will get
£40 quidco
+ possible £135 cashback
or £50 Auto Cashback
or Free Nintendo Wii Fit
or Free Sony DAB Radio
In the best case you can get £175 back in cash, which make the monthly cost down to £7.71. Otherwise a straightforward £50 cashback or other freebies is still better than Voda's "retention" deal.0 -
