My contract runs out in December and I was able to get an upgrade from October, called up and asked if they could do me a deal on the Storm2.

I ended up accepting: Storm2, 24 months, 600mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and blackberry email for £30 per month. It is getting delivered tomorrow. The same deal is £35 on the website so not sure if it's that great a renewal afterall what do you guys think?

Edit: phoned up and got it down to an 18 month contract with everything else the same so pretty chuffed with that.
  • I am near an upgrade on another of these lines and have been comparing on the market what is available.
One thing I have noticed which has surprised me is Vodafone and sony ericcson (SE)
Vodafone on their web site are marketing only 6 models
One of which is top line- Satio
TWO OF WHICH ARE BEGINNER phones w595//c510
    Then the w715/c905/c902

Choice in SE is so limited !!
    No T707; Jalou, Aino; Jari; naite,yari or w995 w760i or any G range (g900/700)

The Jalou Aino have been released. Aino a great phone, not on Vodafone direct

I use that "myphone explorer " a lot so want to stay with SE , but the phones offered will probably temp me to a cash back company with more choice
Vodafone doesnt give the upgrades it gives to these cashback companies , also bad phone choice
    More reasons to leave
    I am a #!!!!!# for price
  • My contract is eligible for an upgrade today and the best deal I could wrangle was:

    Sony Ericsson Satio
    24 months
    £30/m
    500 texts
    600 minutes
    Unlimited mobile internet

I'd like them to lower it to 18 months or £25/m but I don't think they'd even offer that post contract since it's a new ultra high end phone.

    Shall I go for it?

Been on voda for 12 months on 500 mins and 100 text for £35. Asked for pac the other day and they have offered me 500 mins, no texts and new SE C510 for £9.80 on 18 month contract or same price without phone on 12 month contract. What do you guys think? I would prefer the same mins sim only for £5, like my brother has on 3, any chance of them going this low?

Phoned again and got through to a much friendlier chap. Was offered £24.47 over 24 months for the Sony Ericsson Satio with 300 minutes & texts and unlimited internet.

That's a huge £240 saving over the web offer at £35/m over 24 months.

    Still a lloooooooooooooooong contract.....

Its a new phone out, no one would ever pay £35 a month for 24 months for it.... (or they would be mad if they did).
  • its always worth phoning them up. Always get a better deal.

That is not a good deal. Total cost of contract is £720.

If you were to go to topcashback and link from there to vodafone, complete the deal for that Satio, 24 months, 900mins unlimited texts, unlimited internet it would be £35 per month. Total contract cost £840 - £120 = £720 so the same price but more minutes and texts.

18 Month contract on their website, for the 900 mins etc. is £40 per month. Total contract cost £720 - £120 = £600, so £33.33 per month.

I'll bet if you called them up and said you'd only take it if you got 900mins etc. and on an 18 month contract you'd get it, they might ask you to pay a small fee for the handset (£10 i got asked to pay when i done it) but if you say you'll take it if they can waive the fee and are nice throughout the call I reckon they'd let you away with that too.
  • As mentioned above:

Total term cost of £587. Much better. I'll never use more than 300 minutes.
  • Vodafone rang me and cut my contract by three months for free so I can upgrade early (upgrade day tomorrow!) Has anyone heard of this happening before, I'm just waiting for the catch now....
