just to jump onto this thread, i need some help, im not a vodaphone customer at the moment however im after the HTC Hero (as MORPH3US is) and have seen it on e2save at a good price but i would rather buy direct if i can. However vodaphone customer services today told me they dont sell the hero and tried to palm me off with the magic ???? is this correct, the advisor couldnt tell me if it would even become available any time soon and just said they have alternatives so there is choice on the market, which seems daft giving the better phone to another site !

I'm in the same boat as you mishkanorman, I have been looking at the Hero on mobiles .co.uk on Vodafone.... how can a third party sell it if the network don't?0

Could someone please tell me quite how you go about speaking to the retentions team?
do i just phone vodafone like normal, tell them my contracts min 18mth term has ended (it actually ended in July, but ive had alot on my plate) and ask what i can get, then complain its not as good as o2?
Or do i have to actually ask to leave and request a pac code before they put me through?
This might seem daft, but i dont wont to actually go through the hassel of leaving vodafone, so dont wont my bluff called!
Regards
Ring up 150 (i think its that) from your mobile mate. Choose the option "if you are thinking of leaving us" option and tell them you are out of contract and want your PAC code. They will ask why you want to leave, tell them you have seen a good deal with <insert name here>, they will ask what the deal is and say they will see if they can match it. Tell them the deal you have found and then see what they offer.
I would VERY MUCH DOUBT they will make you their best offer on this call. Normally if you reject their offers and get your PAC code, they will call back 2 or 3 times with better offers each time...
Its obviously up to you if you accept on the first call, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. You don't necessarily have to actually leave, just make then think you will. That is the ONLY way to get a decent deal.0 -
thanks alot morph3us, i'll give it a go.0

Morpheus, i look forward to your calls with the retentions team. They're really not doing great offers this time around, i'm into my last week now and havent heard anything back from them...luckily i'm looking into a few o2 deals which could be good. So if i have to say bye to them, im willing to.0 -

Cheers isayhello, i'm not looking forward to them...
What are the offers you are looking at for O2 (if you don't mind me asking).
Failing that I have two options...
1. Go sim only 30 day contract with Virgin (keeping my current phone) for 200 mins and unlimited texts = £10 a month until something better comes up
2. Go with one of the HTC Hero deals listed previously, probably the 18m £22.50 a month deal.... REALLY do not want an 18 month contract though... its a slippery slope after that to 24 month and 36 month contracts.
Whatever happens i'm perfectly willing to ditch Vodafone if they don't make me a decent offer so i'm happy to push them as far as I can.0 -

Well i'm thinking about their simplicity deals and maybe buying a pay as you go phone. Then im not tied into any long term contract and can pick any phone i like. It will be more expensive though i know.0 -

Receive a email said my contract end on 19-11-09 , a few hrs later received a call from Vodafone they keep saying can't offer me a deal for 12 months , only 18 months or 24 months . And keep ask me what provider offer me 12 months deal n l just said if u can't offer me any deal for 12 months contract that it l will go somewhere n l no need to tell u which provider offer me 12 months deal.because u can't do it.Discharged nearly 15yrs and happen again😓0
