I've pretty much given up on VF retentions, I have found an excellent deal on a 12 month contract, should get delivery tomorrow (Sat) If it all pans out I'll post details of the deal (12 months contract, 12 months cashback)

What phone mate? Can you pm me details?

Through a third party company? care to share what the deals are? ;)

Yeah through a third party and its a cashback deal (but should be reliable)..

HTC Hero (Pink unfortunately) - 24m = £12.50 per month after cashback
HTC Hero (not pink, must be brown or white i think) - 18m = £17.50 per month after cashback
HTC Hero (unfortunately pink) - 12m = £22.50 per month

None of the above include internet though so would need to add £5 per month. All are with Vodafone.

PM me if you want to know more details.

I'm currently on a 12-month pay monthly contract and thinking about staying on vodafone with a 30-day rolling contract (due to my fieldwork abroad which is to begin in 6 months) or move to O2 PAy&Go. Does Vodafone retentions offer a deal on the 30-day rolling contract for existing customers at all?

As I said above mate, tell them you can get the HTC Hero on a 24 month contract for £18 a month (its a cashback deal but don't tell them that unless they ask).

The Hero is a much better phone than the Magic so you should be aiming for £18 a month IMHO.

They will tell you it can't be done, they'll lose money on it, they aren't allowed to give discounts that big yada yada yada...

Its just a case of how far you want to push them... it usually takes at least 3 calls from them to me before I get the deal I want.

Who is offering the Hero for £18/month? He said he will be calling back on Monday so shall see what happens.

Sorry guys... it seems you can't get the deals by going direct to mobiles .co.uk

I'm conscious that I don't want to get accused of spamming here... I have no affiliation with any mobile phone sites, I just want to find myself a good deal and maybe help others do so too.

I found them by going to a website called best-mobile-contracts... should be easy to find on Google.

If you search for the HTC Hero on there and then when it lists the deals, (ignore the prices it states on that website) click through to any of the deals on mobiles.co.uk

Then it should add the deal to your basket at the prices I listed previously.

PLEASE anyone who goes for this a) take plenty of screen prints and print T&C's to cover yourself and b) report back and let us know if you have gone for it and how you get on.

    M

    EDIT:

Looks like the deals are changing / being withdrawn / getting sold out...

The Vodafone 24m @ £12.50 deal (300 mins, unlimited texts) is still there, plus a deal on Orange now 18m @ £20 a month (900 mins, unlimited texts)
