Just under 1 month to go on my 12 months contract. Got the PAC and then a phone call from retentions on the same day.

I said I wanted to pay only 10 pounds a month and want a new phone.

Was offered Nokia 5800 on a 24 months contract for 10 pounds.
Turned it down saying I only want 12 months contract. They then offered 18 months contract, same price plan.
Turned it down again, and finally got offered 12 months contract, bill will say 20 pounds a month but they will apply 10 pounds discount throughout the 12 months to reduce it to 10 pounds.

Phone will be delivered on Monday.

Will be double checking all paperworks & phoning CS to confirm my package just to make sure the agent have not lied to me.

My contract ends in just over a month, if they offered me a 5800 for £10 a month I'd go for it. Whats the best way for me to get this deal from retentions ? I've yet to contact them to cancel the contract
  • the phone was not delivered on Monday, phoned up CS and was told no orders were showing up on my account. Got another call from retentions today, told the guy what I was offered previously and he agreed to give me the same deal. Delivery is tomorrow.

Again, I'm not convinced they will put me on the right package/contract length/discounts etc. So will be calling them several times to get different CS to tell me what my package is once the phone is delivered.
  • After requesting my PAC code and rejecting the samsung tocco. I was called again this evening-this time i happened to mention my husband was also after a new phone. In the end we have been given N97 32gb for £24.57 (inclusive of vat) 600 anytime/anynetwork mins, unltd texts, and unltd internet, 24mnths (i.e they will charge twice that for two phones on two contracts...).Begged for an 18monther but they said no cando. Not sure if this is any good. But its coming on tuesday!

Is that £24.57 line rental EACH or for the two phones?

Thought so... would have been the best deal ever if it was for both of them... cheers.

Being very cautious with these people, I phoned them twice before delivery of the phone to check the upgrade package. Not surprise to find out the package is for 30 pounds a month with 5 pounds discount. It should have been 20 pounds a month with 10 pounds discount on top.

CS said I can refuse delivery of the phone and they will revert my account back and re-issue me with a PAC once they receive the handset back.

Obviously the retention guy (Shaun) was hoping I would sit back with the new phone and passed the 7 days cooling off period by the time I found out he conned me into a different package, and he get his commission. No man, not in this case!

Hopefully someone can give me some advise, I'm looking to help my dad lower his monthly plan costs - currently he has a blackberry which he is paying £30-ish a month, 100mins 500txt (will clarify and update in the morn) and the blackberry services.
He's not bothered about a new phone or the blackberry service - just lowering the price.

Do vodafone do anything like o2 when you upgrade your contract you can have ~£150 credit instead of a new handset?

What I'm looking at as options:
If they do credit - go with that and cheap contract
    Go for a sim only and quidco cashback (£15, 12m contract, £70 cashback = ~£9 a month)
See what they offer as an upgrade and sell phone to sub the contract

Can anyone point me in the right direction or possible deals available?
    Thanks :money:

They reduced my line rental by £25 a month over 12 months, when i didn't take a phone last week, which is a saving of £300 over 12 months. Double that of o2
  • I work for vodafone so if any of you are looking for a good deal on an upgrade - let me know what you have at the moment, how much your bills are usually and what phone your looking for and i'll tell you what you can expect to get as the best possible deal!
