Phone them back if you're still within your 'grace' period after renewing your contract threatening to leave, and return the handset as you've been offered that elsewhere for the same price!
*assuming you haven't tried that and it didn't work.
They'll let him leave.
He's already got an extraordinary deal, so asking for more would just be greedy.
If you say you saw deal at X Y and Z and can't give a place they can tangably look at it they'll know you're lieing.0 -

I don't ever think asking for more is greedy - they're making a profit out of him either way so regardless of whether its good value for money, pushing for extra is never a bad thing and can only get you a better deal. Perhaps you'd be satisfied with that deal, but its always that much sweeter when you can get extras...
I don't see any harm in trying, quoting that you've seen it elsewhere, perhaps say "it was with ____ (insert company of your choice here)" and say they've offered that, over the phone - they can't trace it and won't chase it up - either they'll match it, or reject it.
Oh and just because he threatens to leave, doesn't mean he is obliged to go through with it.
Finally, whilst I'm sure the C510 is a good phone, it is hardly a headline grabbing one, and as it is on sale for £77 payg somewhere, I would say its definitely worth a shot.0 -
I'm not going to try it on for the Internet, I'm not bothered about it. Got a blackberry at work and can use that for Internet anyway. The C510 is not bleeding edge but it's a good handset none-the-less.--

Not a retention post but another reason for me to have gone off Vdafone. All the wonderful publicity about free summer roaming-- I have just found to my cost it did not include Jersey. Comes up very expensive!!!!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Last month I posted my new deal which I'd happily accepted when offered, however, as part of the deal they promised me a 8mg memory card for the phone, which despite mw making 3 calls over the weeks when it has been promised each time and once they even told me the day it had been despatched it still hasn't arrived. Why oh why do they blow it, cos now I'm getting very annoyed :mad:0

I have just called vodafone to upgrade my phone to a samsung jet only to be told they are going to discontinue them as they are very bad and have had alot returned. Has anyone else heard this?
If I really wanted one then the minimum I could have it for was £30, when I said it was £20 online he said that didn't include internet so if I have that then I would get a whopping bill because it connects to the internet all the time.
He is trying to persuade me to have a Sony Ericsson C905 as this is the best phone on the market????0 -

He's chatting crap. Unless you are getting heavily discounted line rental on the c905, I would recommend the htc magic to you.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0 -
Just off the phone with Vodafone retentions and I've been offered a new deal. My contract ends on 1st October and I'm in my 30 day cancellation period, already rejected one offer from them when I gave notice so this was their follow up call to me. They have offered me a Nokia E71 with 600 anytime any network minutes, unlimited texts (3000 cap) unlimited internet (500mb cap) on an 18 month deal for £40 discounted to half price for the full minimum term which, with the VAT reduction makes it about £19.60ish per month. All details confirmed by email. I'm happy with that:p0
