Vodafone Retention Deals

Dear all, I received a phone call the other day from the outbound team and after negotiation we did not come up to a conclusion. I received another call today from another lady who offered me an unbelievable deal at around 5.30pm. I asked if she could email the offer in witting to confirm, but was happy to go ahead with the deal. She put me on hold, whilst I waited to be emailed. After approximately 5 minutes she returned saying the system was down and that she will call again tomorrow at 10am. I told her I will be at work and unavailable to answer the phone so she agreed to call back after an hour.
I have not received a phone call, or email and I did not take her name or number down. I rang 191 and they are now closed. The system were also down so she would be able to write the deal she offered me so what do I do now?
Thanks in advance!0 -
Be extremely wary of anything offered by Vodafone over the phone. There is a long list of people on relevant threads who have signed up only to discover various problems later; basically being signed up to longer contracts than they believed and at higher cost with hidden extras. You should spend some time reading the threads on this rather than worrying about them calling you back. Also make sure that it IS Vodafone and not a pretender. I wouldn't be surprised if you're already converted to a deal without being told - and quite possibly not the deal they told you it was. Beware Vodageeks bearing gifts...

If you are out of your contract or close to reaching the minimum term, you should be getting a call from retentions (an 0808 number if I can recall correctly).
They offered me a c510 for both contracts i have with them for £9.79/month one has 75 mins rollover mins (does this mean if i dont use the phone for 12 months i'll accumulate 75 x 12 minutes?) + STC and the other one has 100 mins 500 texts. both are 18 month though. Was this a gd deal ?0 -
I called Vodafone yesterday to request my PAC code and a nice guy from retentions called me, after Vodafone text me earlier to advise they would be calling.
I initially wanted to move to a 30 rolling contract (sim only), but he has offered me the following on a 12 month deal
600 anytime cross network minutes
Unlimited texts
Unlimited mobile internet
Vodafone passport (which I have used a lot in the past)
for £14.68 per month (or £15 when VAT goes back to 17.5%). When I didn't agree to that, he offered me £30 account credit, so in effect I get my first 2 months free.
I have asked for it in writing, as my contract is not up until 19th September, however it does sound a good deal. The only thing he did say was that the paperwork will say £25 per month, but they have added a "manual discount" of £10 per month on top.
Any thoughts?0 -
Hey guys, as some may know, I ended up cancelling my own contract with vodafone. My wife's Vodafone contract was however up for renewal, and despite my prior poor experience with vodafone, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the offer given off the bat.
After much negotiation with the pleasant 'Megan', I managed to probably nab the best deal out of my last three upgrades this month.
HTC Magic (free), 18 months, £27/m (inc. VAT) offering 1500xnet minutes, unlimited landline calls, unlimitied mobile internet, 500 texts and vodafone passport.
While initially having trouble confirming this deal with 2 customer reps, I contacted Megan through the email address she provided me to air my concerns. I was contacted within 1 minute of sending the email and reassured that the discounts (over £26) had been noted in my account under the appropriate section and that the 2 reps did not look it up properly.
I called again to speak to a normal rep and everything was as it should have been.
Well done Vodafone for offering a great deal.
On a side note, I have a HTC Hero (best phone I have ever owned) and for anyone considering the Magic, there is probably only 10% in it between the two handsets, and was pleasantly surprised with the quick and lagless interface of the Magic.
So anyone desperately wanting the Hero but can't afford it compared to the Magic, or you just want to save a few bob, just go for the Magic.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0 -
well done Fork86. There is an art to negotiation, especially with contracts, you gotta make the other person sell you the contract without trying to be rude. Always justify your choice, I find saying 'I want to stay with Vodafone, but you aint giving me a good enough reason to stay' works. Anyhoo yeah I got the HTC Hero and damn it's good, only 10% difference between it and the Magic - but come on the Magic looks vulgar yet the Hero is just really sleek!
I'll be selling it in a short while to get the Nokia N900!!!!!!0 -

I took simonly monthly contract with Vodafone at Paddington station store. Nice guy gave me one free pay as you go sim card as well. In a 2 weeks time I thought I do not need it so I gave notice to cancel it after a month. My plan was to take long term contract so that I can save money on phone.
Few days after I got call from a lady from Vodafone retentions team and she gave me 12 months contract with E71 for 15 Pounds per month. This deal includes 600 min and unlimited texts. I confirmed this atleast 3 times that it is 12 month contract and total money that I will pay will be 180 pounds for whole contract duration. I agreed to this deals and I got the phone as well. Since online account showed 10 Months Half Price Rental, customer service gave me credit of 30 pounds for last 2 months of my contract. I could see my contract renewal date (the date when i will be eligible for next upgrade) as 10th May 2010. So far so Happy.
I just asked can they transfer my 3 network number to vodafone so that I can use one number instead of two. Vodafone agreed to do it as a favour as they do not transfer after sim card is activated. Finally my 3 network number was also transfered to vodafone.
All my online account details were deleted and register again with new same vodafone account number. When I logged in I could see my new number is also updated. Surprisingly contract renewal date (the date when i will be eligible for next upgrade) is changed to 12 December 2010. I called customer service to check with them and .....
I am told that I am on 18 month contract. I explained to them it is software glitch and they should revert back to old details. After an hour of talks, Finally I am asked to return the phone to vodafone as they cannot honour the deal. Reason given to me is they will not make any money from the deal they gave me. They did try to give me additional 3 months half price rental.
Any way they are collecting the phone next tuesday. I am really worried about my PAC code. I hope they donot mess up my PAC code now.
Morals of the story -
Always record calls with dogdy vodafone customer services.
Always confirm again what you are getting in an email.
Take screenshot of your online account and if you find change immediately call customer services.
Finally - Leave vodafone !
Hi twinkletwinkle
I have replied to your other post about this with an offer of help.

Be very wary with Voda, I have a colleague who upgraded to a bb8900 to include the data plan, I was sitting next to them as they repeated everything out loud so I could hear. A month later my colleague had a huge bill for data. They phoned Voda who weren't interested just stated that no data plan was on the account. My colleague told them to go and check the recording but was told that it was only for training purposes. Colleague also told them why on earth would they have upgraded to a bb without a data plan. Voda really needs to start looking into this type of dodgy selling as it seems a very regular occurrence these days. Disgusting!0

Are voda doing any of the blackberrys on a 12 month contract? Or are they all 18 or 24 months0

I finally sorted out a mobile contract for myself on Friday night after thinking it over for a long time (I asked on here for advice months ago!).
I rang Vodafone direct and managed to haggle a contract with a salesperson that I'm happy with. I'm now worrying after reading some horror stories on here that Vodafone may not keep their word. I agreed to the following (and made her repeat it many times too!):
24 month contract at £20 a month
700 minutes
250 texts
unlimited landline calls
unlimited internet (well probably capped)
a nokia n85
I already had a PAYG sim card from vodafone and so apparently the contract will be on this number too. The phone is apparently being delivered tomorrow or possibly Wednesday but I'm going on holiday tomorrow night (My parents will be at home to sign for it so I don't need to worry about that).
Will there be a letter with it saying exactly how much I'm paying and what for? Is there anyway I can find out now? I'm probably panicking over nothing but its the first thing like this I've signed up for!:o0
