BellaGredz wrote: »Hello everyone, Im new here, but I've been looking at this website for ages, its so useful.
This is best vodafone thread I've found, and I was wondering if my naiive idea would work. Vodafones site is currently down so I cant read their t&c's
I have about 3 months left on my 18month contract and I am due for an upgrade. I really want to leave vodafone however and go to a pay and go tariff with O2, is it possible to get my new free phone from vodafone (which requires me to renew my contract for another 18months) but then unlock it (it will be a Nokia) and stick in my O2 sim?
Basically I would like to know whether a renewed contract contains the same cooling off period as a brand new contract, so i can cancel in time, or is this just for new customers?
Perhaps I'm being far too cheeky! Any help would be appreciated, thanks
Hi BellaGredz,
All our over phone and online deals have a seven day cooling off period in accordance with distance selling regulations.
However, if you wanted to cancel then you'd need to return the phone to us.
If you wanted to keep your account open with us and keep the phone the you'll be able to use any SIM in it as we don't lock any of our pay monthly phone with the exception of the BlackBerry Storm.Hi
I was on 12month 600 min 1000 txt new phone £40pm, I was coming to the end of the contract so inApril rang to cancel. I was inundated with calls offering different deals but none which could tempt me to stay. A few days before the contract ended i was offered the same deal without a phone for £10pm, i took it. A week later my phone was disconnected, i rang and they said the disconnection instruction was not lifted, they appoligised and immediatley reconnected me. In June I recieved a bill for £6.58, it seemed low but i did not question it. Yesterday i recieved a bill for £382.86!!! this was a charge for cancellation. I rang and told them i didnt request a cancellation, the man said he would lift the charge and i would continue to pay £29pm, I stressed to him that my contract was for £10pm but he said there is no record of that deal on my file.
I just don't know what to do.
Hi jase_uk,
We'd be happy to take a look at this if you could email us your details using the 'Contact us' form on the Vodafone website. When sending your email you'll just need to state the link to this thread and the code WRT135 to make it comes through to us.Just called Vodafone after sending back my phone due to Retentions Dept not honouring deal (post 1946) which they offered. Called Vodafone today and told that even though i sent mobile back in Special Delivery envelope provided by Vodafone on Monday there system still showed as new contract and no phone/contract returned or cancelled, checked with Royalmail website and believe this or not Vodafone Special Delivery envelope provided has been re-directed to another address , surely Vodafone can send envelope with actual address on it to where it should be delivered. As it is showing as being re-directed does this mean that cooling off period will be over as it's still not showing as delivered due to re-direction.
Hi deekmcc,
I know you've emailed us before and didn't get the reply you were looking for but if you could PM me your email address I'll get this looked into for you.
Thanks,
Lee

I'm so down on Vodafone now. I've been a loyal customer for years and was going to leave them in April as was wanting the iPhone, they innundated me with phonecalls to stay. On 3rd April 09 at 10.15am Gabriel offered me a 50% discount on the £46.90 package with a free upgrade to the Sony Ericsson Cybershot 8.1, I took it, as I had been badgered and it did sound like a good deal. The phone was then delivered to an address I had changed with them 3 years beforehand and the discount has never been applied. They are currently charging me on average £74 a month and I can't get to talk to anyone on the phone. So much for loyalty.0

I wasnt going to vent my anger but what the hell..
Vodafone company representative .. I hope you can/will look into this for me, as although I'm 6 weeks into my new 18month contract I am still not happy with Vodafone/Customer Service.
Rang up as soon as I could (the monday) to upgrade and was offered Nokia 5800 600mins, 500texts, free MI for £22.50per month. (Just 10% saving with and a few handset - i've been with VF for as long as I can remember!)
Not too happy, I took this offer (working on the the fact I had a cooling off period) and was informed by new handset would be with me at WORK the next day. Waited all day Tuesday til 5pm (even missed a work meeting for it), but still no phone arrived.
Received HALF a text form Vodafone that night about dispatch so rang up and they said it was with the dispatch team and I would receive it the next day. (wed).
Again.. worked all day and no phone came. Got on the phone again and was told it was on route. Went absolutely mad, as you could imagine. and was promised on between 8-10am Thurs. Got to 12:00 Noon Thurs and no phone so I called up and was told it was out of stock., hence no delivery BUT, offered me an instore upgrade. As i was going away on holiday on the Friday, I took that offer of the upgrade, and went instore (waited 20mins to get served - all reps were busy - and explained my story), girl rang VF CS but couldn't match phone offer and I was then asked for ID to upgrade in Store anyway. I left store without phone and said I would call back. - I never did.
That night (Thurs) I rang them up on the way home from work - again explained about all the hassle I had and asked for Rentions, of all people what the best deal was. Between Tuesday (£22.50 and this call) I was offered 3 "best" prices, with Rentitions (get this!) offering me a best "stay with us" price of £29.50.
Surely rententions should offer the BEST price? or is that me being stupid!? Spoke to a very rude lady (amy) who said - and I quote "its not vodafones repsonsbility to pay customers to be on Vodafone - the customer pays us to be with Vodafone"... Outraged by this, I told them to cancel the whole current contract and asked for address to cancel (said I could do it online so replied, "brill I'll do that!)
Now, friday morning comes and I'm just ready to leave the house (going away for weekend to see friends) when mobile rings - It was work who explained that a parcel had come for me. So, mad as a hatter by now I rings up VF again to find out what is going on, and was told my contract phone had been signed for this morning (fri) at 8:05am!
Spoke to a nice chap .... Explained AGAIN my story, complained/explained about the rude lady on the phone and that I wanted something done about this.
Apologised for colleagues behaviour (he shouldnt have too!) and was offered
600 mins
Unltd Texts
FREE MI
18month contract
£19.99pm
which is still only £5pm saving (as i've had free MI for 6months by this stage but that another story*) Said he would escalate my concerens and them a member of complaints (i think he said) would contact me with a few days. NOTHING!!
I rang them up following Tues, explained I was waiting for call back, but it was basically a "how can we help you now" question. Nothing was said about the complaint, and to this day Im still waiting for some-one to get in touch.
* Since Jan/Feb 2009 i have had free MI has VF have messed up and over charged me 5 times in 5 months, so had offered me this for free.0 -

I just spoken to a nice chap in the outbound team (Harpal) and got this deal.
Of course I'm reserving the right to heap praise or join the condemnation of vodafone depending on if what I was told on the phone is the same as what is on my paperwork when it comes.
HTC Magic
600 mins
Unlimited text
Unlimited Internet
Passport
12 mth contract
£22.50 per month
A great deal me thinks, but given what some folk have been through on here I will reserve full judgement pending delivery and paperwork.
PS - I did make comment in reference to mis-selling of renewals and was told this would benefit neither party. I was assured of the deal in full 3 times. fingers crossed0 -
If I were you, I'd grab it! Get it in writing though, if possible.0
