    Hey all,

Hope you can offer me a bit of advice. My mum's contract with O2 is due to upgrade, she has been with them for 7 years, and usually always had good deals with them. Last upgrade, she had the LG Viewty which was new on the market, and 400 mins and 100 texts for £15 p/m (they applied a £15 discount to the £30 tariff) however, now their policy is they will only apply a £5 discount to the same tariff.

Me and the boyfriend are with Voda on the same account, alongside 2 other family members, so because of the number of lines we have on the same account, we can usually get quite good deals, so I suggested that my mum came over to Voda.

Voda have offered us (for this new connection, so technically not retention)

    600 mins
    Unlim texts
    Vodafone Passport
    Samsung Jet (Free)

    £20 p/m on a 24 month contrac
    t

What do you think of this? The guy said that their deals aren't as good now because they have to make at least 40% profit on each line, and the system will not allow them to take this profit down any lower. He spoke to his manager, and he allowed him to take this down to 30% because of the lines on our account, and came back with the above deal.

We've asked him if he can do anything a bit better (like 18m not 24m) with a phone which is a bit cheaper, like the Blade or the Nokia 5800.

    What do you think? :)

I've just been offered on 24month contract:
    600 mins
    Unlimited text
    Unlimited internet
    N97
    £29 (cant remember the pence)

Anyone got better than this? Not sure about the phone as not seen one working

He said vodafone also match the 12month contract £45per month N97 and £20 for the phone

    Finally sorted with Vodafone.
But I will think long and hard about going with them next year.
When they finally contacted me it took about 10 minutes!!!I was so pleased with Vodafone especially after 3! but this has totally changed my opinion of them. Although the eForum young lady that sorted it was very pleasant.

It's really what your happy with, My view looking thru these deals and seeing what vodaphony offered me, I can honestly say they havnt got nothing much to offer, vodaphony is pushing for a 1 billion £ cut back, i guess where in the middle of it,

fatboy88, 24 mts would put you at £696 in total line rental, is the n97 worth that ? i dont think it is, back in march it was worth 430£ now its priced at around 550£ mark, your better off getting one on ebay for 380£ ish get it on 0% card if yourlow on cash, and grab the new O2 deal http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/445040/o2-800-mins-1600-texts-plus-bolt-on/ remember its 100£ cashback quidco aswell!!

and same thing for Charl__x maybe just that o2 deal and a standard phone would be a better option,

24 months is a flipping long time,

Saying that my friend just got N97 on vodaphony paid 50£ for it, plus 25£ per month 300mins xnet unlt txt - passport wait for it.. 24 months, and hes happy with that,

the plan is to always hook you in with the latest phone, i stopped falling for that years ago, i just would take a nice phone as long as it was free and sell,.

Justpaper: I thought that as well, thats seems a good way to get the N97. I'm not sure how i went from looking at the N97 to getting the Tocca Ultra on an 18 month contract £25 500min 100 text unlimited internet. I pay for Friends and family so dont really use many minutes outside of that.
I might try and take the internet part off as i'm not sure how much of that i will actually use?

How long would the contract be? 12 or 18 months doesn't sound too bad but 24 too long for that price I'd say.

lol they will keep on giving you more mins, and pushing the line rental up, even when you tell them you want to lower it, and only X amount of mins,

i asked for my pac code the other day and the voda rep didnt even offer me anything,

Here's an interesting one and perhaps a warning for some of you. I have 6 phones on contract with Vodafone all due to end within a month. As I have done many times in the past, I've given them 30 days notice to cancel the contracts and requested my PAC codes.

Yesterday I was contacted (as expected) by their Retentions Department to see what deals they could possibly offer me to keep my business. After lengthy discussions and negotiations we came up with some phones and excellent deals (all slightly different) for 5 of the phones and the operative was going to discuss the terms of a deal for the 6th phone with his manager because I wanted to change some bits, and he would get back to me later that evening. I was hoping to then do business, but the return call never came.

Whilst I was waiting for that call, another operative from the same department phoned me that evening about possibly offering a new deal to retain my business. I mentioned that I was already in negotiations with someone else there (told him their name but not the overall price) but he still went ahead to try and negotiate. After discussing the same deals as before, he came up with a total price more expensive than the first caller. When I pointed out that the first deal already offered was cheaper he said he couldn't possibly go lower and the first guy was wrong. So I said I would wait for the 1st guy to come back to me.

Today I had a 3rd phone call from the same department. This guy had been passed my file from the 1st guy who apparently was now off sick. Apparently this new guy wasn't aware of the price deals already offered to me (surprisingly?) and negotiated again with me for the same price plans and deals as before. Surprisingly he came up with a deal that was more expensive again (by about £15 per month) than the other 2, which I did point out to him. Again, apparently it was the 'rock bottom' price, no way he could go cheaper and apparently the other 2 were wrong. I declined his offer stating that I had already been offered cheaper by the same department.

At this point I fired an e-mail into Vodafone Customer Services complaining about this fiasco over how 3 people in the same department can apparently all offer me the same deals for the phones, but come up with 3 very different total prices, and then complain that the other people are wrong.

This evening, I had a 4th phone call from someone else in the same department. Same discussion again. Initially didn't tell him the price offered by the other 3. Discussed the same deals and hey presto – more expensive again than the other 3. Again, rock bottom deal, lowest he could go etc etc. I said that I was getting tired of this as a deal had already been laid on the table by the 1st operative and now Vodafone were not going to honour that deal. At that point the operative wished me a good day and hung up.

6 new phones with 6 new deals, and 4 different prices for the total package all from the same department, with each operative trying to claim that the others were wrong with their quotes and that their deal was correct. What a fiasco and what an appauling way to treat customers!!!! Lay a deal on the table and then take it away again.

At this rate it looks like I'll be taking my business elsewhere ...........................
