Does anyone know if its possible to contact the Vodafone Outbound (retention ??) team, as they phoned me yesterday following a PAC Code request & offered me an acceptable deal. Unfortunately i got cut off.
I assumed they would ring me back, but heard nothing :confused: ... I now neither have a PAC code or a someone who i can talk this offer thru with

    Any help appreciated
I'd suggest phoning 191 and choosing the wanting to leave option. Ask them again for a pac, they night put you straight through, if not you'll be called back. .

I am currently on an 18 month contract paying £40/m (750 mins, 200 texts, unlimited land line calls)...

14 months in, I thought I'd give the upgrade team a call enquiring about the N97, and the best they could offer me was pretty much the same deal I currently have on a 24 month contract plus 5 pound extra a month for unlimited internet (all in all £45/m) ...

How is that an upgrade? I am not getting a reduction in line rental OR an increase in talk/text allowance, and I am being tied into a LONGER contract...

I am completely and utterly annoyed at vodafone, and unless they learn how to value their 'valued' customers, will be asking for my PAC code once my contract is up and join 02 or Orange.

    Unbelievable...

atro out of principle now I would cancel. Push it to the wire and let them do the offering. If you finally accept a great deal always always ask for their full name and a copy of the tariff/deal in writing. Good luck!
Dont I wish i had listened to that sage advice!!
It has been a nightmare all but one month since with broken phones phone accounts cancelled now i am trying to get what I was promised!
Does anyone have the address of a top line manager, director or such please.

To be honest that is pretty standard. You're not in a position to haggle in the middle of your contract. You need to wait until the last month, if not the last week of your contract to get any special retention deal. A lot of people complain that they are valued customers or have been with vodafone for x amount of years etc etc, but to vodafone you are a paying customer just like any other paying customer. Nobody should expect special treatment, so whilst you are still locked in a contract, and are asking for the most sought after and expensive phone at a time when you aren't owed an upgrade, you are only going to get it at the standard rate you would get in the shop.
    Oa lot

I am actually 'eligible' for an upgrade 14 months in to my contract, as was stipulated in the deal I agreed to. Also, I have a contract with O2, who for the past four years have strived to keep my custom and offered me outstanding deals to stay on with them.

And forget the N97 being a sought after phone, they were trying to flog me the same monthly deal with the HTC magic. I feel sorry for any poor mug who would have accepted that pathetic offer. I don't expect 'special treatment'... I expect 'not' to be offered a deal WORSE than what I received the year before.

Anyway, I will be waiting to see if I will be offered anything better in my final month of the contract, if not sooner... and if not, Vodafone will have lost a customer.

I think you miss the other person point. It is not being "eligible" for an upgrade is important. It is being at the end of the contract that is important. Cause once you are at the end of your contract "you are free to leave." So now if they dont offer you a good deal you can ask for your PAC and goto other network. And as they say it is quite expensive to get new business, they will give you some discount in hope to get you to stay. But to pre-empt these ppl who try and get cheaper deals, the networks sometimes allow you to call up early to upgrade / call you up to "offer" an upgrade. But as the other person said in these situations you normally only offer RRP.

About O2 currently they are not offering any good deals

I like how they are sneakily offering 24 month contracts now as standard. I remember it was 12 months, then 18 months is the standard, and now it seems 24 months is.

I am trying to upgrade 1 of my 4 lines with the samsung Jet. They wont match any of my previous offers which I have had which are: Free Samsung Soul 600 mins, Unl txts for £12.50 pm on an 18month contract ( x2 ), and I also have a Samsung Omnia on 600 mins, Unl txts for £17.50pm on an 18 month contract.

I have been told they can do me 600 mins, unl txts on 18 months for £24 with the Samsung Jet. I have refused, and requested my PAC code. I am sure I will be getting a few phone calls in the next few days, but I will not settle for anything more than £17.50pm on this one.

They can make all the excuses they like, but when I got the Omnia, it was a £300 phone 5 months ago, and they managed to do me the deal then.

Well to be frank they might now realise it is not good business sense. £17.50 X 18 = £315 for duration of the contract. if you take £300 from the handset cost that leave just £15 profit, but than they are giving you 600 minutes cross network calls, unlimited SMS etc. per month. They can quite easily make a loss on it! Whilst at £24 x 18 = £432 for duration of the contract. Which leave a much more healthy £132 profit which even after taken those 600 minutes / sms / etc (and taken into account calls you receive in etc.) probably will result in them being still in profit. Cause of this credit crunch alot of places are now looking at ways to cut back expense / increase profit margins, reduce borrowing / exposure, etc..

Vodafone have changed they way they do retention deals, it's no longer based on "Reinvestment Value" but rather profit.

You can't ask for stupid none profit deals anymore, as it's unlikely you'll get them. So, Matt, you're probobly going to have to sup it up.
