    thanks,

i know i wont get a better deal than those from retentions but they are offering me worse deals than those for new customers to the extent that i would be better off financially to cancel the contract port my number out to a PAYG sim on another network then comeback on a new contract or just switch to another network.

The best deal the upgrade dept. offered me was 5 quid cheaper than a new customer get for the tariff. The CS said that it was a mistake to offer me the deal and i would get it only if i was to say yes at that time, otherwise what i would get, be 200 mins and 1000 texts for 35 pounds on a 18 month contract. I could do better going for a new deal via quidco.
but please read my post above Re: black berry storm few posts above this. I think you will get a really good deal if you are patient.

That's amazing. how did you manage that? It's exactly the deal i'm looking for, although I don't need that many calls/texts

I called 191 then selected 3 (upgrades/thinking of leaving) then 2 (thinking of leaving)

i then asked about my pac code and what happens if i requested it now (my contract ran expired end of july so only just within the 70 days) and he explained that i'd have to pay the remainder in one hit.

He asked why and i said i really wanted an iphone then he mentioned the magic and offered me the deal there and then, i asked if it was 18 months and he said i'll see if we can get it on 18 and then said fine and that was that.

Will be calling to double check the offer on Tuesday after reading some of the stories on here.

Not a bad deal as you have the nokia 5800...they want me to pay £65 for it. You may be able to get better, but I doubt it with that phone. Im now on a 24 month contract, 300 mins, unlimited texts and internet for a tenner a month. Total contract (including the £65) is £305 or £12.50 a month

so it works out cheaper for you right? as i'll be paying £360 for the 18 months.... ?

Also, does anyone think asking for STC & free internet (in addtion to what theyve offerd me) would be "pushing my luck"? :D

    Thanks..

What they are offering for £20 is not that good. As a new customer you could get the 5800 with 600 mins; unlimited texts and unlimited internet at £35 per month on an 18 months contract. However the online offer is half price(i.e. £17,50) for 10 months. Now for the extra saving if you go via Topcashabck you can get £90 from Vodafone which makes the deal equivalent to approx £20 per month. I'd tell them you can get all that as a new customer so push for £15 for the above contract features, which others on here have said they've been offered by retentions.
