Vodafone Retention Deals

Well after talking to someone today in the returns dep I have got myself a brand new W880i havanah gold with free speakers. I did have to pay a one off £20 towards the handset. I could have had the moto u9 for free but I like SE handsets. I still get
Not as good as some people but I just got 112mins 100txt with vodafone passport for £10pm. Was on 500min 250txt with voda passport £35pm which was reduced to £17.50pm due to coolnewmobile saga.
I struggled to use the mins and texts and I am happy with a tenner a month would have liked a new phone as well but they would not budge.
I rang up to grumble because the original person I spoke to didn't belive virgin would give me a phone and 100 txt and mins per month for £10.
Today I had a flyer through the door from virgin outlining the deal so rang up armed and the person basicaly said what do you want? she gave me 24 hours to think about it and when I rang back to let them know someone else said that I should no way have got that deal on a 12 month contract and I would have to loose all the discounts.
I pointed out that was not what I had been offered and she spoke to a manager and said that they were not able to go back on deals that had been offered so gave it to me.
I hope that the person who made the deal didn't get in to trouble. But it goes to show you get a different offers from different people.

I have been with vodafone for quite a few years now. I am a low user and have been on a half price tariff of £8 per month, 75 mins and 100 texts for some time. I rarely go over this amount. When I get to 9 months I just phone up again and ask to remain on the same reduced monthly amount. I don't bother asking for a phone upgrade as for me personally it works out cheaper to go and buy a "pay as you go" phone separately.0

Hi, i'm on the old £25 400 mins tariff. Never use my minutes as on friends and family. Can i still get the 12 month contract for the N95 8GB as mentioned on here or would i need to do an 18month contract which i dont really want this time.
Also is the viewty availabel on vodafone
thanks0 -
I've actually just joined Vodafone as a new customer, after two-and-a-half years on O2 (the retention deals they offered me were rubbish).
I've gotten 750 mins (more than enough) and 250 texts a month for £25 a month on an 18-month contract. Bought it through their web store.
I'm also getting two phones for that - a Samsung U700 (which I'll use as my main phone) and a Samsung E250 on Pay As You Talk which I can use as a spare phone or to give to my OH when she inevitably loses/breaks hers.
I did shop around extensively and there were a number of better deals out there but inevitably those deals were a) by redemption which is often a hassle and never guaranteed and b) dealing with a third-party website which - given the horror stories you hear on this forum - is not always recommended.
So I'm happy with £25 a month for those minutes/texts and (hopefully) the straightforwardness of dealing with the network direct.
My only gripe is that all the networks seem to now charge for voicemail - it's no longer part of your inclusive minutes - which I think is a bit of a swizz.0 -
your voicemails comes out of your allowance on vodafone see here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=7551770

Time to upgrade on vodafone, would ideally like a viewty, but vodafone don't do these direct, so considering a n95 8gb or the ericsson w960i....
I'm hoping, as a very long term custoemr to get either of these on a 12month contract (got thrown on to a 18 last time!!)
What chance do i have, currently paying £35pm for 500mins 1000#texts which i don't use so would like to reduce the monthly if i can, 250/250 would be plenty.
Any thoughts, opinions or advise?0 -

ID say your chances of getting either of those phones free for the sort of monthly fee your looking at for 12 months is very little
If your willing to stick to your current amount a month or possibly go 18 months you may just about blag it if you stand firm0 -
Does this sound a good deal?
Free Samsung F700 12 mths
500 mins
250 txts
£17.50 (half price) for 8 months then it goes back to £35 but i can call up and lower my price plan in month 9.
3 months free insurance
1 month free internet
Bose headphones.
I accepted the deal but id be curious to hear some opinions.0 -

I reckon thats a good deal. I want the F700 but my contract doesn't end until July. Just don't forget to cancel the insurance if you don't really need it.0
